View Full Version : Caesar's: A New Day, er, Set?

I just noticed at Taku's site that Stevie's band will be rehearsing in Los Angeles from March 13-16. That's four days to rehearse for a four-night run. Surely they don't need that much rehearsal time for a show that they could all practically perform in their sleep. I recall that for the Vegas show in December, all they needed was a single day.

So okay, y'all, speculate! :p Four days! Could this possibly mean that there will actually be something new added to the set? I don't think this show is being touted as the "Dreams" show, so perhaps it's not going to be a standard issue "Dreams" set list.

So how many new songs do y'all think we'll get? And what about the rest of the days leading up to March 21? Perhaps they will be used to put the finishing touches on the new video images/animation?  Can you feel the winds of change? Is it a new day, Celine???

Well, isn't 4 days pretty routine? No? Usually with a new tour, or new stuff, they're in rehearsal for at least two weeks. No?

I really doubt there'll be anything new in Vegas, but I think there will be new stuff during the summer tour.

Actually rehearsals for a new tour would usually take at least a couple of months, especially if the group has not played together for years. But we are talking about a group of people that have been playing the same show together for almost two years. And this is only a month after the mini-tour of Florida. I could understand a day, maybe two at the tops to do a dry run-through. But four days? That's definitely enough time to work through one or two new songs, especially if everyone comes prepared, i.e., mp3's of the arrangements are sent out in advance by Waddy.

And I just realized... isn't there a Lindsey conflict here? Obviously Taku knows where his bread is (best) buttered. You always come home to Mama.

I really meant for a new leg of the tour, which is what these shows basically are. One long two year tour with the same stuff. Considering that, I think 4 days is actually rather short, so I'm not holding out hope for some new stuff. Before the 2004 leg of the SYW tour kicked off in May they were in rehearsals for a couple of weeks and they didn't make that many groundbreaking changes.

I'm pretty sure they'll throw something new in for Vegas...four days...as Hejira said....if it's the same show they rehearse a day before or do a long soundcheck...I think Waddy might have mentioned that the fans wanted to hear Rooms On Fire to her and she took it into consideration:D

maybe ONE new song, if we're lucky. That's probably it but I ain't holdin' my breath. I do, however, hope they work on those graphics. I payed closer than usual attention to them during the Hard Rock show and man, they sucked! They need some serious attention. That stupid dove during Edge is particularly annoying.

I have to disagree! For those first couple of shows we got:

-"Don't Let Me Down Again"
-"I Know I'm Not Wrong"
-"Red Rover"
-"Destiny Rules"
-"Sara"

And I think "Say You Will" was kicked up a half step or two in key. Or was that later on during the 2004 leg? And didn't "Second Hand News" replace "Eyes of the World" during this leg? Can't remember... oy, it's a bitch growing old. :distress:

From the Caesar's website...still billed as the "Dreams" show.

Extraordinary Stevie Nicks returns to The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in a four show engagement of "DREAMS", the exclusive concert experience. This limited engagement is presented jointly by Caesars Palace and AEG Live.

I really hope you're right, Ed. I want new stuff as much as anyone and I used to be very optimistic around this issue. But Stevie's given no reason to think there will be anything new in March. And after listening to these incredible demos, I think it's almost unforgivable that she keeps doing the same 13 songs or whatever when there is a goldmine of material out there for her to record and tour behind.

She probably just has to adjust her timing to some new Unicorn pics she has in the background...

If anything, she should be throwing in something that she's basically going to be promoting from the "best of" like "Talk To Me", "I Can't Wait" "Rooms On Fire" or even "Leather And Lace" done either solo kinda accapella with the girls, or with Waddy...

Question... For those of you that went last time, what makes it the "exclusive concert experience?"
Better sound, stage production? Or is it Vegas marketing? I love that town, but it does have a tendency to put it's own spin on ordinary events.

I'm putting my money on Rooms on Fire. Talk to Me is possible IF she hires a sax player. I Can't Wait is the long shot.

Well, at the time the background video screen was new, but since then they incorporated that into all the shows I think. It was pretty much Stevie that started all the hype about how it would be different from any show she had ever done before.

One of the best things to come out of the last couple of years was to take that huge back screen out on the road and not leave it just for the Vegas shows.

Duh, it's the unique, proprietary combination of "How Still My Love" and "If Anyone Falls."  :p These songs are never performed together in the same set except in Vegas. I thought everyone knew this.

I have to admit that the screen really adds oomph to the show, especially on songs like "Rhiannon" and "Sorcerer." Those creepy images of dolls and skeletons are really haunting. And the whole OTR/Dreams rain/water imagery is a very nice, memorable touch too. However, I do miss the running unicorns. :distress:

I think RoF is probably the most likely. But I wouldn't be surprised to see "Beautiful Child" or "Leather and Lace" make an appearance either. "Planets of the Universe" would be awesome with visuals- the earth, sea, sky, planets... TTM ain't gonna happen due to the sax solo and the demanding vocal. ICW is probably impossible to recreate without a bank of those (dated) Korg synthesizers and drum machines. By contrast, Stevie's live gear these days seems to be pretty basic.

But if anyone in Camp Stevie is out there reading... "Bella Donna," please!!! I would have an aneurysm.

I thought so too, until Waddy told fans a few months ago that Stevie won't sing it for personal reasons, or because it was too painful, something to that effect. Of course, she's changed her mind before, so you never know.

Personally, I would really love Bella Donna, Talk To Me, or I Can't Wait. But I'm not holding my breath for any of them to happen. :o

It is Vegas hype. I absolutely loved the concert and thought the venue was a beautiful place for Stevie to perform, but there was nothing exclusive or special about the show. Except the IAF/HSML thing...but that hardly warrants language like exclusive.

Besides, ROF is such a bore live.

Of course it is, Curty, but I'd be willing to settle for pretty much anything different at this point, as long as it's not something that's been done in the last 5 or 6 years.

This ain't gonna happen. I'm pretty sure nothing new will surface. She's had all this time to do something new- I woulda thought she would have done something "new" for the taped deal in Austrailia/New Zealand, but it didn't happen (no big surprise).

Geoffrey just found out that he's not going to be able to get away for Vegas, so if the set list changes by some miracle of nature I'll catch her show in LA.

I cannot recall if she used at Red Rocks or not. I was having way too good a time to notice! I released alot of energy at that show!

That first Vegas show in May, 05...I bawled like a baby. Not so much from the screen but from the entire package. Mostly her vocal and how she looked. So beautiful and it was eerily quiet in the venue. Honestly, I do not think any of that can be felt by watching the bootleg. You have to be there to feel the energy coming from Stevie and the crowd. It was my favorite performance of that song, ever. The way the movie segments were choreographed to her lyrics....frigging amazing.
I really like the photos during Rhiannon and Sorcerer as well. There are alot of neat images during Rhiannon. My all time favorite is Skeleton and the Lady, :p during Sorcerer.
