View Full Version : What concerts are you looking forward to this year?

So what concerts are you getting pumped to see... I know I have quite a few!

The Police
Boston (If the tour ever goes through)
Stevie W/ Chris
Van Halen w/ Roth
Dave Matthews Band
Rage Against The Machine
Aerosmith... MUCH LATER in the year, maybe last show of '07?

Ironically, none of these bands have posted official US dates..... Just rumours!

and I know there are a few more I am looking forward to seeing.

Also, I bet only 1 (if any) make it to Wichita this year. I would be shocked if more than one did.

Stevie Nicks
Tori Amos
Sarah Brightman

02-11-2007, 06:22 PM
Hm, well...

Stevie in Vegas
Bob Dylan in Amsterdam
Hopefully The Police
Boudewijn de Groot in Belgium
I might go see Pearl Jam later this year in Arnhem.

And there are a lot of rumours going around about certain artists hitting Europe this summer. I hope they will all be part of a some big summer festival like Classic Werchter or Rock Werchter...artists like David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen, Eric Clapton...those are all people I'd definitely go see if they have a show within a 3 hour vicinity.

I can't think of anyone other than Lindsey, and some various musicians and bands I know locally.

There really aren't a lot of touring artists that appeal to me anymore. I really like electronic music, and that's a different kind of experience.

If Portishead actually finishes an album this year, I'm crossing my fingers big time for some USA shows. They've only played here one time. It's funny.. I always thought I'd live my whole life and never see a Lindsey solo show or a Portishead show. And here's Lindsey. Maybe I'll get to see P one of these days, too. I probably wouldn't need to go to any other concerts ever, because my life would be complete.

Erasure tour?

Say what?

http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003543957

Erasure will debut new material this summer during the True Colors tour, which will also feature Cyndi Lauper, Blondie's Debbie Harry and the Gossip. "I feel like I'm in the company of these grand dames," says Bell of the outing, scheduled to begin in June in Seattle. From there, Erasure will play some headlining shows in North America then head to Europe. A gig at London's Royal Albert Hall is also in the works.

I'm going to see The Lemonheads next week! I haven't been to a show in months. Read - a show that I will have to purchase a ticket to get into. I'm excited.

The only other one I'm definitely going to see is Lindsey. I have 2nd row tickets for his Pittsburgh show. I'm dying to go to SXSW, but that's completely out of the question, and I might have a gig around then as well. Also, there's a powerpop festival in NYC next month with Nikki Corvette, and The Riff Randells, which would be awesome.

If only these folks would add some dates near Pittsburgh..
The Stooges
Lucinda Williams
Cat Power
The Raveonettes
AC/DC
Hall & Oates
Heart
The Romantics
Cheap Trick

The Sirens, and the Gore Gore Girls are releasing new albums soon, too. So maybe they'll add some dates soon.

I wish I lived in a real city. I'd kill to see Midlake. :(

However, traveling is still an option, so...

TV on the Radio (Boston 3/2)
Circa Survive
ARCADE FIRE (Asheville, NC 5/2)

Also, a bunch of bands are releasing albums this year....
Bloc Party
Modest Mouse
Bright Eyes
Rilo (****ing) Kiley (!!!)
Margot & the Nuclear So and So's
Whispertown2000
The New Pornographers
MIA
Voxtrot

and I plan to go see any and all that I can....

Rilo (****ing) Kiley (!!!)

I forgot about Rilo! I wasn't sure if they were planning any gigs this year, since they're in the studio, and Blenny had their respective solo tours, etc. I'd kill to see Rilo. I'd also have to kick some sceniebopper ass, but oh well. And I'd love to see The Arcade Fire, as well.

I also forgot that I'm going to see The Matches in a few weeks with a friend of mine. Should be fun.

Apparently, 06 was the year of the solo projects and 07 is the year of the Kiley, according to the lovely Blake. The album's pretty much done, supposedly (working with some LA producer). The album probably got pushed to the summer since Warner Bros. is releasing it and doesn't want to compete with publicity for all the other big time spring releases (Bright Eyes, Modest Mouse, Arcade Fire, etc) so I'm guessing late spring/early summer they will start touring. They're back to their band full time now. Morgan said they did a cover of one of Whispertown's songs, Goodbye Baby, and it's a "B side" which means it didn't make the album, which means they already know what's going to be on the album, in theory. Also one of my myspace friends plays horn for them and first week in February said he'd just put down a horn track for one of the new songs and apparently it's kick ass, and he hadn't heard the rest of the album but it should be like 10,000 kinds of amazing based on what he heard on that one song. Gah, I can't wait.

Kick that sceniebopper ass, Kate! I know you could do it. Don't worry, they'll tour this year. :) I just found out Arcade Fire is coming to Asheville like TODAY and I'm sort of freaking out about it. It's unhealthy.

I'm going to start a SXSW thread soon...the big names haven't come out yet, but so far I'm stoked about:

Iggy Pop & The Stooges
Booker T and the MGs
Johnette Napolitano

Pete Townshend is the key note speaker. Don't know if he's performing yet, but his girlfriend is - Rachel Fuller. He's also a big fan of The Fratellis. Here's the first official list:

http://2007.sxsw.com/music/festival/

Rumours include another appearance by Morrissey, and a Nirvana reunion w/ Ben Kweller on vocals. I know, I can't picture that one either.

You know that is just killing me...I just can't believe that lightning would strike twice. But he IS touring right around that time.
His performance at last years SXSW was his first in Austin after many cancelled dates in the past. And he was fabulous. I adore Morrissey...I hope he DOES play again this year.

Johnette, Iggy and Morrissey....how happy can you be?
