I can't even remember the last time I watched the Grammys. I used to be such a starfu*ker, I'd watch them ALL and just get so excited at every single camera shot of a celebrity...
My favorite part of those shows is still the random shots of the audience/celebrities....

I second that.
Especially regarding the Oscars. If I had any respect left for the Academy it would've been lost as soon as they announced Marky Mark's nomination for best supporting actor.

Oscars. I'm a glutton for those award shows, I always watch the Golden Globes and the Emmy Awards also. They always start at 2 am here and last until 6 am. (Yawn.) But me and my sis always make a night out of it. I have to steal my dad's cable box though, since we don't get E! and ProSieben (German channel that airs the shows) on our regular cable box.
I don't think ProSieben airs the Grammys. I have to check that, I love that show also, but I usually watch clips and pics the day after.

No way girl, Dixie Chicks all the way!
I am so looking forward to the Grammy's this year, simply for the Chicks. They are performing and I'm hoping it will be "Not Ready To Make Nice", since it is up for song and record of the year, that song kicks ass! With everything that unfairly happened to them and then this great album and everything it and that song represents, it would just be so sweet for them to win. The real kicker would be for them to walk away with Country Album of the year  Eat that all you dumb red necks :D
I'm also rooting for Neil Young. He wrote a whole album about war, he even has a song called "Let's Impeach the President", and no uproar over that but the Dixie Chicks should be burned at the stake.

The first hour of the Grammy's will be good, I am sure. I can DVR Housewives and Brothers & Sisters. But I am SOOO hooked on B&S that, even though its recording, just KNOWING that it's on is gonna make me crazy and I'm gonna have to watch it!
I'm so out of it, though, I had no idea that the Police were playing! SASS!

   How could you not know about The Police performing? That was the rumour that sparked the leak of the reunion tour. They are opening the show. I wouldn't be surprised if the Housewives and B&S are reruns. The networks tend to do that when they know they're gonna be beat in the ratings anyway....if not, then I think you should record the Grammys while you watch the other shows! I'm really shocked that you're not into 'em, being the huge music fan that you are.
***SPOILER ALERT*** (Well, one thing below was news to me - I haven't noticed it being mentioned on any commercials, but I'm excited!)
Blunt, T.I. Added As Performers
February 8, 2007
R&B legends Earth, Wind & Fire will also join Mary J. Blige and Ludacris on 49th GRAMMY Awards
GRAMMY.com
The Recording Academy announced today that current multi-nominees singer/songwriter James Blunt and rapper T.I. will perform on the 49th Annual GRAMMY Awards, and six-time GRAMMY winners Earth, Wind & Fire will join previously announced performers Mary J. Presenters added to the all-star lineup include multi-GRAMMY winners Burt Bacharach, Natalie Cole, and Reba McEntire, rapper/actor Common as well as actors Alyson Hannigan and Cobie Smulders ("How I Met Your Mother"), actress/singer Mandy Moore, Academy Award winner Quentin Tarantino, and actor Luke Wilson.

Rapper T.I. has four nods for Best Rap Solo Performance and Best Rap Song for "What You Know," Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for "My Love" (with Justin Timberlake), and Best Rap Album for King.
Previously announced performers include Christina Aguilera, Beyoncé, Chris Brown, the Dixie Chicks, Gnarls Barkley, Wyclef Jean, John Legend, John Mayer, Corinne Bailey Rae, Rascal Flatts, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lionel Richie, Smokey Robinson, Shakira, Justin Timberlake (solo performance and with the winner of the "My GRAMMY Moment" competition), the Police, and Carrie Underwood. Previously announced presenters include Joan Baez, Natasha Bedingfield, Tony Bennett, Lewis Black, the Black Eyed Peas, Nicolas Cage, Ciara, Ornette Coleman, Melissa Etheridge, Nelly Furtado, Terrence Howard, Jennifer Hudson, Samuel L. Jackson, Queen Latifah, Pink, Rihanna, LeAnn Rimes, Chris Rock, Nicole Scherzinger (of the Pussycat Dolls), Seal, David Spade ("Rules of Engagement"), and Stevie Wonder.
The 49th GRAMMY Awards will take place live on Sunday, Feb. 11, at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles and will be broadcast in HDTV and 5.1 Surround Sound on the CBS Television Network at 8 p.m. (ET/PT). The show also will be supported on radio via Westwood One worldwide and XM Satellite Radio, and covered online at GRAMMY.yahoo.com.

Thats VERY cool about **SOMEONE HOT** joining Mary J (who I think is gonna be a big winner tomorrow night along with the Chicks). I dont give a crap about Ludacris, though.
I hope Tom scores for any of his categories just cause it was a wonderful CD.
"Crazy" should win for song of the year.
I also hope the Raconteurs win their alternative award.
I also hope Bob Dylan wins. I've been listening to MODERN TIMES quite a bit this past week.
Brilliant lyrics, as always....
Other than those mentioned, I don't care about any of the other artists. :sorry:

Okay everyone, what is the deal with Mary J?
I get the whole tragic kicked the booze and drug thing blah de blah. Fer god's sake, I am a homo, I do see that.
But, everytime I have heard her perform I cannot escape the simple fact the she is nearly tone deaf. The bitch is flatter and sharper than a round one American
Idol reject. And that makes those attempted vocal scales, which I hate anyway, even more painful. What am I missing?

You are cracking my ass up yet again!
I hardly think she is the best vocalist out there but I think it's the soul that comes through her recordings. This release that she is repeatedly nominated for really is a good mainstream record.
My tastes are much more alternative/indy...that's why the Grammy's dont get me all excited.
But yeah, Mary J is this years comeback kid. Good press agent?

You know that's what she always says in her interviews. She has "soul".
WTF is that supposed to mean? I mean, Aretha has soul, but frankly, without pitch, it's just a bunch of friggin yellin and screamin.
I am so outta the loop on this one. Maybe my ass is too white.
Plus I am lifting weights and listening to Soundgarden.
Which is some serious screaming and perfect pitch.
