___________________________________________

In celebration of Crystal Visions and the exciting events heading our way, I will be sharing all of Stevie's unreleased songs.

I've been wanting to do this for a while, in honor of all the nice people who originally posted these for me to enjoy. I'm "twirling it forward," if you will...

Yousendit offered me a promo business account this week (the fools  ), so there is no time like the present to start this project. The downloads should be good for 14 days or 500 downloads. Tell your friends, and get them while you can!

These are of varying quality and are by no means the definitive or best versions of each song - they're simply what I've collected over the years from various sources. If you've never heard one of the songs, lost your copy, etc. - something is better than nothing, right?

I'll be continuing down the list ( http://buckinghamnicks.net/sn/snlyrics.html#unreleased ) a few songs at at time until we get to the end. I'm limiting this project to the unreleased songs, for sanity's sake.

Thanks again to the people who shared these files in the first place. I've spent countless hours enjoying these songs. Hope everyone else does too.

:xoxo:
Chuck

Oh!! You are simply amazing!!!! I can't wait for the next batch!
*blush*

Thanks - I was trying to finish batch #2 tonight, but I got distracted. Probably tomorrow afternoon.

[Musicman408]

I love these songs, even though I already have them.......

Tooo many threads on the same thing. We have about 4 of 5 already.... Let's post in a pre-existing one.

Hope this doesn;t come accross as B^tchy, but if it does I am sorry. I had a really bad day.:sorry:

Love Yall,
Ethan

[amber]

You are so kind, of course, I already knew that. :xoxo:

I'm not sure I like any of these, though. I've heard most in passing, but which is your favorite? I've heard all but All These Years and the last three.
Do you like all of these? Just curious.
I'm listening to All Over You right now, which is interesting. There's a funky beat going on here that I never found in evidence in Stevie's songs before. Unfortunately, the execution doesn't live up. It is odd, though, so I'm glad I have it. It sounds very early 90's late 80's. I expect the theme to "In Living Color" to come up at any moment.

[michaelD]

This is awesome...

THANKS!

I LOOOOOVE All the beautiful worlds:]

once again Chuck thanks for posting these...i had some of them but i was making a cd for someone on enchanted and i moved them to a new file folder and now i can't find where they went...i'm probably going to have to go thru all my music files to find them but at least i have these 1's in my stevie nicks file...makes me so mad...i was doing something smart (or so i thought) by making a demo file so they could be copied easier...now i have doubled my work load...darn computers...anyway thanks again chuck...u rock...pat:thumbsup:

My favorite? Amber, of course! :xoxo:

No, I don't like them all. But I can appreciate something in each one - a few lines here and there, the inflection or emotion in her voice either on a single note or entire song. Plus, I couldn't count how many evenings I've spent with my best friend listening to them in random order as I'd come across a new batch somewhere on the Web. So those memories are all tied up in there too.

I still can't believe All The Beautiful Worlds was abandoned - that chorus just kills me. And I love that we know now that she stole the "You say you're leavin baby..." lines from that B/N Telephone song that popped up last year.

I do understand about the "beat execution". When 24 Karat Gold starts out, I think, "OOOH! This is gonna be hot!" and I start looking around the room for my dancin' shoes. Then the clunky keyboards start in.

[Nixxxed]

This is awesome... THANKS!

You're welcome! I'm serious - spread the word. There's no reason we shouldn't take yousendit to the limit.

you sweetie! you're awesome.

:xoxo: Without you, none of this would have been possible. When you mentioned your promo ysi account the other day, I hunted around the website.

That's why I f*cked up batch 2! I was trying to organize things in folders to keep track of what I'd posted. Then I got click happy and things just started disappearing. I had to take a break.

I was going to do this as well. I'll help out if I can or if you need me to.

Hey, thanks for doing this. I lost all my Stevie demos when I sold my desktop PC last year, and I just didn't care enough to go about trying to find them again. But now that they're all here in one place, I figure...what the hell. :D

[Nixxxed]

Here's the next batch - I decided to keep everything in one thread. Going forward I'll put a link to each update in the thread's first post so you won't have to dig for it.

 Welcome to my hell. I almost didn't get thru the Castaway files... And I didn't even mess with the Master Reel that someone (gldstwmn?) posted earlier this week.

Thanks for the PM reply. Which sites still list all the demo versions? The one I always used was the SNUnderground ... RIP. I have a link to Nancy's site in the first post, but that's just the songs individually. Help!

I blame the advertising industry and their damn Valentine's Day commercials. Or menopause. Maybe a little of both. Anyway - enjoy!

:xoxo: Thank you so much for your kindness. What a nice (and time consuming) thing to do!

Thanks for posting all these demo's. I had only heard a few of them. It's been like Christmas Day the last hour downloading and listening to them! Thanks!

You're welcome. When you finish listening, tell us which are your favorites!

(All the Beautiful Worlds) deserves to be on a record. It would be perfect for Crystal Visions. I would love to hear the track in it's clean, remastered glory. It's a beauty.

Yes! It's funny - that track has been downloaded twice as many times (approaching 3 times...) as the other tracks. It's definitely a "community fave".

If only they'd finished it for Mirage while Stevie still had that edgy voice, and booted one of Lindsey's clunkers. "Moment to mo-MENT!!!" Imagine the video we might have gotten for it!!!!

I'm reposting here the .wav file for "Julia - Outtake 5" that gldstwmn ripped a few weeks ago. It's 63 Megs - I didn't want to include it with the others since they're all mp3s. If you're broadband-blessed (or on dialup and don't mind waiting 2 days for it to download ;) ), it's a must-have.

I'm not sure I ever heard the TITN demo for Joan of Arc...just the other version you posted. Sounds like they were onto something. Lord knows it's not catchy in the slightest, but with some editing, you can bet it would've been more compelling than When I See You Again. Her vocal is certainly stronger on this than on anything that actually made it onto the album.

I've never really understood the song - I can't imagine writing about Joan Of Arc without mentioning (or alluding to) fire. But I guess that's the poet that she is.

I do wonder what it would have been like with some backing vocals. Oh, and with the damn handclaps taken off.

About 95% of the demos that I have I actually downloaded when I had dialup. It was NOT fun. But I'm compulsive and had no choice, so... I've wanted to share forever, but uploading takes even longer. Thank gawd for broadband.

You make a good point about the amount of material she has in reserve. I think that her reluctance is how the songs end up. If You Were My Love is a perfect example. Each of the ones I posted is a completely different arrangement, mood, etc. It just comes down to the producer, and whether she likes the outcome.

Have you seen the TOSOTM UK special where she talks about the demos? And how disappointing it is to her when she spends millions making a record, and then people say they liked the demos better? I think that is a big part of it. The remaining part is that she's unsure how to distribute her music now, since she's been brainwashed into thinking the Net is evil.

Oh this thing is hilarious. I used to have it on LP. I remember one crazy weekend when my friends and I got super (and I mean SUPER) baked and used the answer-only side to make our own fake Mad-Lib-style interviews on cassette. There's one question on here that works really well with "The Rumour." Or at least it did at the time.

What did you think about the new Erasure album info?

I have a higher-quality version of the Demo version of All The King's Horses - it's the same thing, just a little louder. I took it nonetheless, lol.

and that's awesome about the Erasure album! I didn't like the last one much, mainly because it was odd hearing them do accoustic.

Outside the Rain (alternate lyrics)
http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=0796EE1A71670552

Here are the words...I love, love, love this:

Outside the rain
The heart skips a beat
Are you lonely?

Creature in the night
You’ve been almost weak,
Love me only

I never knew, no
You would not stop
Till I answered your questions
And I do not lie

The stiletto cuts quick like a whip
Through the wind
Sometimes through the night

Sometimes in sad dreams
Love is real blind
Somewhere in that sad darkness
Love is real blind

For the loss of...

So I would love to believe
That you believe what you say
Better to believe in something
Than to tell me, go...go away

Are you risking my feelings?
You would not give me up
Because you love me, could not help me
So you ran away
You ran away from love

Ooh, but to run was not enough
I know that it’s difficult
In that my life is not my own
You’re so very much upon the ground
As I diligently search for my...search for my home
Search for my home
You’re so much more on the ground
Search for my home.

It's hard to fight for your soul
It forces you to challenge your pain
To learn just to listen and to be told
To be crazy and completely insane
And completely insane
And completely to blame

Remember the beauty of innocence
Believe it or not you say
You quite managed to get your things together
It's only right that you should play
Play my way

i had no idea - i just assumed it was hers cos . . . well i don't know why really.

i have been totally enjoying this thread for the downloads and now i get extra bonus info to boot -
thanks so much

is it to early to start nominations for "Thread of the Year"?
I just checked Nancy's site again, and she's listing it as Stevie AND Lindsey as songwriters, so I could be wrong. I always thought it was Lindsey's song (but I can't remember how I got that impression).

Anyone know for sure?

Anyone know why "Don't Treat Me Like A Stranger" says unavailable for download?

I'd still love to hear it.

That song could have been epic. It was even mentioned in a Rolling Stone blurb about Stevie's up and coming album, along with The Tragedy of One's On Soul...which is similar in "style". Obviously, it didn't make the cut. The tempo is a little dirge-like, and the lyrics....well, they are a little dicey...garbled, overreaching, and she never really hits it.

Her tendancy to use "he said, she said" in her lyrics, coupled with ever changing tenses really makes her lyrics uncomprehensable. That is my one big beef about her writing.

Here are the lyrics (as I remember/hear them)

The sky is not crying
No, he said, the sky is blue
I remembering saying that to a friend of mine
Him saying yes baby the sky is blue

And me saying you don't understand at all what I mean
The sky is raining, raining, raining
He who looked at me so much,
For so very long

Don't treat me like a stranger
That sounds like a song, she says
And I never put you in any danger
But you've known that all along

Well, he said, you could come right through my door any night
And I don't want to know about new people in your life
Let me make one thing in all all your dreams real clear
Now lets talk about faith (or fate?)

But he called me as I walked through the door
He ran down his long hallway
And I turned around for more
No, there is not as much laughter as there used to be
Not to speak of you and me

Don't treat me like a stranger
That sounds like a song
He said I never put you in that danger
And you've known that all along

No, the sky is not crying
Oh, yes the sky is crying
So were you, so were you

Don't treat me like a stranger
Don't treat me like a stranger

[steviefan59]

This was outstanding! It's snowing like crazy in Chicago today, so this was a good project... I have heard several songs that are "new" to me. Including Space Needle, Castaway and Blue Water which are GEMS!!!!! It's good to hear old school Stevie in 2007. Thanks to everybody who contributed, and to Nixxed who shared the gems with all of us... In a quite organized manner too!

Again, it really makes me wonder why she wouldn't release an album with 10 or 12 of these on it?

[Rickypt]

Okay, the amber song is really bad. "well her mother says here is your coffee and everything will be better". or something like that. But there are some real gems here.

Can someone tell me about "Blue Water"? What era is it from? It's very pretty.
the story I heard is that the night Sharon and Stevie met in Hawaii or shortly thereafter they wrote it together. so it's, what, late 79ish?

I have a fan edit that adds some chimes to the beginning and fixes some of the hiss.

Smile at You - Mirage demo
After the Glitter Fades piano demo
If You Ever Did Believe demo (there may be more than one, but I've only heard one, so...)

Probably others, but I don't remember what all I had. I seem to remember some other piano demos from the Bella Donna sessions.

[camchristo]

You're welcome. When you finish listening, tell us which are your favorites!

I sure will. I've been downloading like a maniac. Since there is so much, it will probably take me a little time to get through it all. I've found that the quality on my ipod with my car connection is not so great so I need to listen with my headphones or my ipod desk speaker. But, if I do that, I get caught up listening to the music and not working. SO, (after all that) it is going to take me some time. But I will enjoy every minute and I'll let you know as soon as I figure out my favorites! Thanks so much again!

[Nixxxed]

I did have all of this already, but I want to thank you for taking the time to upload it anyway, that's great. :)

These are a few of my favourite things...

Outside the Rain (alternate lyrics)
http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=0796EE1A71670552

Wow - that's bizarre. The lyrics are 1/4 OTR, 1/4 Fireflies, and 1/2 completely unpublished. Amazing - thanks!

[Nixxxed]

I hope not, because I've got some requests:

No Light piano demo
The Tower piano demo
Smile at You - Tusk demo
Smile at You - Mirage demo
After the Glitter Fades piano demo
If You Ever Did Believe demo (there may be more than one, but I've only heard one, so...)

Probably others, but I don't remember what all I had. I seem to remember some other piano demos from the Bella Donna sessions.
Lisa posted lotsa Smiles at You here: http://ledge.fleetwoodmac.net/showpost.php?p=644171&postcount=8

I just checked the links and they still seem to be working. I don't know about a Tusk demo, though - I'll keep looking.

I was going to do Bella Donna demos/outtakes next (tomorrow), since Jason uploaded the three RAL discs. I'll throw in No Light and The Tower while I'm at it.

[JazmenFlowers]

Also, does anyone have a version of "Beautiful Child" which begins with kind of like a rock and roll lullaby... before launching into the master take, including lusher backing vocals from Stevie throughout?
uploading now...

Chuck, I loooooooove you!!!

Can I just say that Castaway is my favorite unreleased Stevie Demo (although The Tower and China Doll come close) and for some reason every mp3 I've found of the keyboard version (I think it's from the UR album) changes speed halfway through. It's only a slight change but enough to change the key of the song, and it has bothered me so much because I remember having a copy on a cassette I no longer have where it didn't do that. Yours is perfect (well, it's the most perfect of any recording of that version I've ever heard). I can't thank you enough. If anyone ever found a better recording of that version I'd probably just pass out. That's how much I love it. Thank you so much. You totally made my night. :blob1: :blob1: :blob1: :blob1: :blob1:

[UndoingTheLaces]

Oh, and I forgot to say.. Thank you for all the demos you posted, woo hoo. I'm sitting here up way too late trying to download them all. I'm having such a great time. This was so nice of you (and for all the other people who uploaded a the other demos). Thank you all. :)

[Kris10723]

Speaking of The Tower, is there any way that someone could post it for me? It seems that's one of the ones that I don't have and I would really love to hear it. Thanks ~ Kristen

I got the Smiles. I didn't know there was a Rumours version. Are we sure that's from Rumours?? Only ones I had before were the Mirage "angry" version and the one from Tusk.

Will be looking forward to the BD demos. :D

Thanks for posting all these mp3s, everyone! I had lost most of mine. Some of 'em sounded a heck of a lot better when I was fourteen. :o

Markolas, here's some soul seasoning for you: http://www.sendspace.com/file/ewb5vf

That version of OTR was incredible! You're right about the lyrics...
She's all over the place! That was great to hear.

I'm having trouble keeping up! So much goodness in this thread.

Have to say "Are You Mine" is f*king gorgeous....why it isn't on a Stevie album is beyond me.

[Kris10723]

Is there any way that someone could post Fireflies? I've heard parts of it but I don't have the FM Live cd.

[skcin]

Nixxed - it is so cool of you to do this. I think I have most of them, but I plan on grabbing them anyway, if only to properly organize them. Plus, there are usually so many versions of each song, I'm sure I don't have them all. Thanks so much. :xoxo:

[Kris10723]

I know this has been asked before and it should be in another thread, but I can't find the answer. How many songs does Stevie have anyway?

[Stew_Matthews]

:You're welcome. When you finish listening, tell us which are your favorites!

Just about got finished listening properly to the first couple of batches - just amazing. I've loved the 78-81 stuff. Bella Donna was the album I heard by chance that got me into Stevie and straight after I was given Mirage - I thought Fleetwood Mac were Stevie's backing band  ........probably still do really but can recognise how brilliant Lindsey is  ! So the standouts for me so far were the Mirage outtakes of Smile at You and If You Were My Love. Both were as good as anything she has released commercially IMO. Closely followed up with All the Beautiful Worlds, Beautiful Child (Jaz's recent posting) and the early version of Outside the Rain.

She really could have been singing anything in that period from Tusk to Bella Donna - such was her ability to convey every emotion, just in the tone of her voice. For me the real pleasure in hearing these demos has been to get an insight into the way that she has put these songs together. She seems to have worked on getting the lyrics 95% there and then refined the melodies and arrangements. In some of the tracks the words seem to really hit home more in the simpler arrangements without all the guitar and synth add ons. The frustration from hearing them is why Fleetwood Mac didn't give her one or two extra slots on albums (an old debate I know) and why the OSOTM and the SA CDs were not as strong as I now know they could have been.

But thanks to Nixxed and Jazmen in particular - I feel very privileged to have these recordings.

[JazmenFlowers]

srsly though, there's no telling. it's insane.

no problem! :wavey:

as a sidenote: I'm putting together a Stevie livejournal community for trading this sort of stuff and photos. it's all in the beginning stages, but I'll update you as soon as it's up.

I think you're right about the Smile at You demos - the ones I have labeled as Rumours are most likely Tusk outtakes.

And here is the Bella Donna zip file - sorry everyone, I didn't have time to do these individually or clean up the file tags: http://www.sendspace.com/file/im38gd

I've attached a screenncap of the zip contents. Highlights are the Bella Donna Alt Version, the Blue Lamp/It's Not A Dream keyboard demo, and the Outside the Rain "Champagne Alt" with the Heartbreakers - I can't remember if I made up the "Champagne" name or if it came that way, but at the beginning of the take you can just make out Stevie saying "Can I have another glass of champagne, somebody, please???" Oh - and I just noticed the Tusk Mac outtake of Gypsy is mistakenly in there. Sheesh - will I ever get all these things organized?

[estranged4life]

Yeah, David knows. If you can get in touch with him...

I think most of them were done in Coketember of '82....a few in Cokuary of '76...

:sorry: that just seemed way more funny than the real answer. Plus, I don't know the real answer, anyways. Might as well amuse us while we wait for someone who knows.

[gldstwmn]

I just checked Nancy's site again, and she's listing it as Stevie AND Lindsey as songwriters, so I could be wrong. I always thought it was Lindsey's song (but I can't remember how I got that impression).

Anyone know for sure?

No but the lyrics are so him. So who knows?

Didn't Sara Rhiannon's site have all that info? Whatever happened to her, anyway? Was she sold into white slavery or something? She used to post here, right?

[gldstwmn]

That's like Docklands. Papa says wash the clothes, Mama says... or whatever.

She didn't write that song but yeah. It's unusual to hear the word laundromat in a song.

I'm having a very strong reaction to these songs. There are a few clunkers but overall there is a ton of beauty and potential here. Rick Rubin could come in and take 12 of these songs and create a Grammy-award winning album and Stevie could end her career on the highest note.

Huge missed opportunity for Stevie. I know you've all discussed this to death, but this is all new to me. I had no idea she had this treasure chest.

I'm glad you're enjoying them. "Treasure chest" is the perfect description - and is exactly the reason why so many fans (who've heard all these songs) freak the F out when we hear Stevie say things like "why should I record a new album?"

And thanks for the nice comments, everyone. This was fun. My hard drive just needs a little rest, and then I'll post some more. We still have a few solo albums and a buttload of Mac demos and alternates to get through!

I used to have very vivid dreams of going to a "local" record store and finding all these demo albums similar to "Uncirculated Rumours" (which, I have) and "Almanac" - but, undiscovered with tons of demos on them. When I actually started finding other demos online it was really weird- like the dream came true.

I have always been from the camp that Stevie is missing opportunities to release this material. She could completely pull off "Julia", "The Dealer", "China Doll", and on, and on- with one or two great albums worth of product.

Stevie is laaaaazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzyyyyyy. Big time.

I do not know what her contract requires her to do. But, I do know this, she could make a few hundred thousand putting high quality versions of these songs and other songs we do not even know about - for sale on her websiut. I'd pay $10.00 for download, say, 20 songs that are never going to see the light of day otherwise

I would pay $25.00 to $50.00 or more for a self-released album offered on the Nixfix containing new versions of these songs. Most definitely!!!

Hijacking the thread for a sec-

I saw your Youtube snippet of "The Rose" and it reminded me of seeing you and other ledgies in that loverly version of "Stand Back". My mind has had "Under Pressure" stuck in my head and I thought how much I would enjoy doing that one with you- I want to be Freddie to your Bowie! Although, I'm sure you would fight me for the Freddie part, Sausage Pattie.... :xoxo:

When I typed that out my mind zapped right to "Whole Lotta Trouble" (of course)- two freeeks think alike.

Then I got pissed because I thought- how cool would it be for Stevie to do "Love is Like a River" live in her upcoming shows and really have fun with it and rip the hell out of it. Her current voice could so easily pull off that song.

Huge missed opportunity for Stevie. I know you've all discussed this to death, but this is all new to me. I had no idea she had this treasure chest. She has more brilliant unreleased songs than most artists have released songs. I sometimes wonder if she's forgotten even writing some of these.

Like you said, Stevie could easily release an entire album, consisting of newly-recorded "vaulted songs."
Ironic thing though -- there were actually fans (*cough*) who complained about the "30-year old songs" on 'Trouble In Shangri-La' and 'Say You Will.'
Guess there truly is just no pleasing everyone.

[Rickypt]

I just checked the link, and it worked fine for me. But with ysi, who the hell knows. Want me to email it to you?

I was able to download it....thanks! You have made me the happiest person ever this week.:woohoo:

The only question I ever sent in to that stupid "Ask Stevie" thing was exactly that. I said I wanted demos, as cleaned up as she could make them, preferably with written notes for each song (about anything: inspiration for the song, who came up with the idea for the arrangement, why it was abandoned, how Jimmy Iovine was a bastard for not liking "Julia" ... whatever).

No outlandish packaging, no art, nothing that would cost her money or cause her headaches - simple and to the point. I even said I would happily pay in advance and help promote it in the community.

But, she didn't answer. Not even a two-worder.

And like several have said in this thread, even if they think they already have what you post, they'll still download it again anyway (just to see if it's even the slightest bit different or teeniest better quality). Compulsive!!!

Cool! The links for everything should be good for at least another week (until Friday, Feb. 23rd for the first "A" batch). And I just checked my tracking page on ysi, and there's still plenty of bandwidth/download slots.

So no rush if you can't get everything tonight.

Thank You SOOO much for your generosity!:)

Haven't visited The Ledhe in ages, but this is great !

I have been tapetrading since the late 8o's. Long before the years of the internet. Have collected a lot of tapes (as well as a few CD-R's) with concerts and demos/outtakes. Got rid of my casette-player and put them ayway in a box in the closet.

Downloaded a few demos every now and then and now find this thread....
Started downloading and will put them on my Ipod next.....

My girlfriend thought I'm nuts when I showed her my collection of tapes and stuff....:-)

Anyway, of course I know most of these demos. Haven't heard them in a few years, but is real fun to hear those gems. Also there was some stuff that I didn't knew of forgot about.

Thanks for posting !!!!! I'll see if I can contribute some stuff as well.

Yep. We're not picking on her. We know what's she's got lying around. And we salivate at the thought of the stuff that hasn't even leaked. I am positivie that is a tremendous amount of material.

I've never really understood the song - I can't imagine writing about Joan Of Arc without mentioning (or alluding to) fire. But I guess that's the poet that she is.

I do wonder what it would have been like with some backing vocals. Oh, and with the damn handclaps taken off.

THANKYOU!THANKYOU!THANKYOU! :blob2: This is my FAVORITE VERSION of Stand Back~ I have wanted this forever thank you so much for posting and sharing!:xoxo:

You're welcome. Have you seen then video? She's all dressed in red and her performance is not to be believed. It's fukcing awesome!

[SandyMac]

When I typed that out my mind zapped right to "Whole Lotta Trouble" (of course)- two freeeks think alike.

Then I got pissed because I thought- how cool would it be for Stevie to do "Love is Like a River" live in her upcoming shows and really have fun with it and rip the hell out of it. Her current voice could so easily pull off that song.

Wow, "Love is Like a River", now that would be awesome in concert.

[SandyMac]

Thanks - I appreciate - but again I'm just sharing the joy. If you have something you'd like to share, feel free. Like I said before, whatever you post someone will need/want in their collection.

And like several have said in this thread, even if they think they already have what you post, they'll still download it again anyway (just to see if it's even the slightest bit different or teeniest better quality). Compulsive!!!

LOL, I thought I was the only one to do this. Always have to find more room on my hard drive.

Thank you to everyone who uploaded these wonderful treasures.

[Livia]

I'm having a very strong reaction to these songs. There are a few clunkers but overall there is a ton of beauty and potential here. Rick Rubin could come in and take 12 of these songs and create a Grammy-award winning album and Stevie could end her career on the highest note.

Get out of my head! :xoxo:

Hi everyone. Since there's all these demos floating around would someone mind terribly, if you have it, posting a particular demo of Gypsy for me? It's from the mirage sessions, and it was the take used for the ending ad lib. The music is close to the finished version but with a lot of organ, but the vocal is different all the way through until the end with the vocal ad lib. It's a very cool version. I have one mp3 of it, but there is a clicking sound all the way though, and another that fades out before it's done. I wonder if anyone has a better copy of it. It's listed as the "vocal demo".

And just so I don't feel like I'm not giving back, here's the video mix. I was so excited to hear The Chain unreleased extended version until I found that there are a few tiny parts of Stevie's vocal missing, especially the part where she sings "oooh, see your bright eyes" during Lindsey's guitar solo at the end. Someone else had posted this somewhere but since I don't see it listed in this thread, here it is. :)

I don't think this is what you're asking for ... but on the odd chance that it is:

Gypsy - Alt Mix: http://www.sendspace.com/file/7yddz2

It has the organ part you describe, and the full ad lib at the end, but the vocal is similar if not the same to the album version, plus Lindsey's guitar part is the simpler lick he used on the Mirage tour...

This popped up on my iTunes this morning so I thought I would share:

You have no idea. I have been looking for a cd (or even vinyl) quality of this edit.

It's the Gypsy Music Video Version.

I copied it from a Vhs tape to Mp3, and that is the quality of the track that is floating around..

I think its sooo awesome that she harmonizes during the guitar solo finale of the song.

"ooooooooh... i still your bright eyes...."

I have the "making of the gypsy video" on vhs somewhere

you can hear that vocal very good, because she had to film that part a few times

I was so excited to hear The Chain unreleased extended version until I found that there are a few tiny parts of Stevie's vocal missing, especially the part where she sings "oooh, see your bright eyes" during Lindsey's guitar solo at the end....A few years ago, I made a mix of the song that combines the original album version and the alternate version on '25 Years - The Chain.'
Still doesn't include that little "ooh-ooh, I see your bright eyes" part, but it does restore a couple other vocal parts.

Here you go (by the way, I only put my screenname in the name of the file, so as not to confuse anyone into thinking that it's an official version)....

I want to finally get to thank everyone who has posted on this thread, my collection has grown by leaps and bounds and I was able to delete a lot of stuff in return for the same recording in a better quality... Thanks again!

You made this mp3??? Thank you so much. I don't remember where I got it but after years of bad cassette copies from third generation mono vhs tapes it was so great to finally get a decent sounding version. It's really good quality. I do wish it would have been released on something. The funny thing about the extended version on "The Chain" is that even though you don't hear her sing "..see your bright eyes" during the guitar solo, you still hear the "oooh" before it if you listen close enough. It's like they were mixing it and heard the beginning of a vocal and pulled the fader down thinking it was a stray vocal from another track.

mp3 Du jour:

Behind The Mask Tour Rehearsal- 03-Rhiannon.mp3 This is pretty good for this era. Love the way she holds the long note with vibrato whilst singing Rhiannon toward the end.

I dont want to go "against the rules" and post the actual album version, but here is the LIVE VERSION:

enjoy!

[Johnny Stew]

I dont want to go "against the rules" and post the actual album version....I think it would be ok to post "Frozen Love." The album is long out of print and no one (not even Lindsey & Stevie) knows when it'll ever be re-released.

The only one to avoid would be "Long Distance Winner," since it's available on 'Enchanted.'

[LikeAWillow]

Does anyone know if there are any demos or outtakes of the song Freedom? I'm starting to really love the album version and I would love to hear any others you have :D

Due to a hardware crash of both my laptop and my Ipod (grrrrrr) I lost all of these demos/outtakes I've downloaded two months ago which were listed in these threads. Does any one have them all somewhere available online? I do have them on tape, but to listen to them on my Ipod is so much better....so if anyone has them online or wants tyo work out a trade?
