Personally i think it would be a better decision do a Fleetwood Mac album and tour the world with that and then get back to solo work and release the Rock ablum that everyone is waiting on.

Reason 1) It Gives everyone else a chance to see him play live again, not just people in the US.

Reason 2) A possible Mac Wourld Tour could incerase a new awareness of Lindsey Buckingham and lead to better sales of a Rock album.

Reason 3) Theres a lot of Mac Fans that havent new had an album in 5 years.

Reason 4) A Mac album & world tour would earn him LOTS more Money.

Reason 5) It would help break things up a little for him.

So a good arrangment would be to finish up the current tour by May- ish. Then in july start to get to work on a Mac Album then World Tour it. Then in late 2008 - Early 2009 get on with the rock album. Then tour a 5th solo album not long after that. Much better idea !!!!:woohoo:

I agree if only because it makes more sense time wise. He won't have time to do anything with that 5th album, and it's a little weird if he goes out on tour AGAIN a few months after he toured for the 4th album (I can't believe we're talking about Lindsey Buckingham here...). Though I don't think we'll get a new Mac album, I would say that it makes more sense to get FM 'out of the way' and then focus on that 5th album, do some more touring.

Reason 1) It Gives everyone else a chance to see him play live again, not just people in the US.

Good point, but it would more than likely be seeing him play the same songs you have seen countless times before. Also, there is always the chance he'll tour elsewhere for the next album. Perhaps almost exclusively elsewhere since he toured America exclusively for Under The Skin.

Reason 2) A possible Mac Wourld Tour could incerase a new awareness of Lindsey Buckingham and lead to better sales of a Rock album.

First of all, he was two years removed from a monstrously huge world tour when Under The Skin came out. And that didn't exactly help. The only way Mac touring will help his solo sales is if he is actively promoting a new solo album while on a Mac tour. Second of all, I don't think anybody but the record label cares how much he sells.

Reason 3) Theres a lot of Mac Fans that havent new had an album in 5 years.

False, it's been less than four years. It was six years after The Dance and ten years after Tango in the Night for Lindsey to return. I think the fans haven't gotten good at the waiting game.

Reason 4) A Mac album & world tour would earn him LOTS more Money.

Nobody cares. He's got plenty of it.

Reason 5) It would help break things up a little for him.

I don't think touring with those people and those songs is going to be particularly new and exciting for him.

Gotta be a solo album first for me because then we get more Lindsey than a Mac album and that's what I want to hear. If they will put out a Mac album with the same number of tracks as SYW then I'd be happy enough, but anything else and I'd rather get a solo record first.

Yeah, another several years to put out the rock album?? It could happen if he waits...or FM might use the material. Too risky. Put it out soon!!

No. I say NO. Hear me? NO

soloalbum first. He's NOT going younger. I want an album with the passion and focus he NOW has.

Another FM album would probably end up being boring, with Stevie and Mick likely wanting to play it safe for the sake of the label.

No thx.

Solo plz.

A FM album should not be released because of those reasons - they should release a new album when they feel inspired enough to do so...

exactly. They don't WANT to record, they want to tour and make money.

exactly. They don't WANT to record, they want to tour and make money. That's why I said they should get that out of the way first and then Lindsey can focus on that 5th album. Now he's forced to cram it all in between August and Jan/Feb of next year. It all seems so rushed.

let them knock for a while. He's on a creative high now. Don't let that flow interfere with bandpolitics. Mick talks him into a Macalbum with all his old material in a sec. And then he can force himself into a threequarter of a year to save some Stevie-demo's with no success and boof! gone is another masterpiece. NO. Let them knock for awhile.

Either way, don't care...No matter which one came out first, it would probably entail the same songs...just that the Fleetwood Mac album would have Stevie's songs interspersed.

The Mac can wait if they are going to do something...I think he's enjoying the whole "let them knock" thing. Why not? He deserves at least this.

Well, I DO think that to let a year ending in "7" go by without SOME sort of major Fleetwood Mac project is a crime.

No not true.
He said that the idea was that it would be a more "normal" album, something that would be more radiofriendly according to the label, and that he didn't know anymore if that would be a good idea because he didn't want to wreck what was build up by this one. That's something else Johnny. That's a wish to continue making weird (read: nonradiofriendly) albums. Do you know how unradiofriendly he can rip the Model One? Yes you do.

I think he wants to deconstruct the old material and record the new material in a very underground-hip electronic folkrock-concept.

Which means the "rockin' solo album" will eventually be morphed into a Fleetwood Mac album...c'mon, people, we should be USED to this by now...it's been that way for the last three Fleetwood Mac albums that Lindsey's been involved with.

True. Let Mick record with billy, rick, john and jeremy. Some bluesthing with a 7 on the cover, so Lindsey can do his thing.

I'll ALWAYS lean toward a Fleetwood Mac ANY day over solo material...not just Lindsey, but that goes for them ALL.

I'd like to see some more of the vault stuff come out...the long-delayed reissues (with bonus tracks) of the ENTIRE WB/Reprise catalogue. From Then Play On all the way through Time.

If those happen, then I'll settle for a solo album of new material simultaneously, too.

And, a live album from the current Mick Fleetwood Band would be really nice, too.

Well, I'd prefer the solo album first. Fleetwood Mac are catalogue artists basically, so it's in their solo material where the new, exciting things happen. But the label knows that the big bucks are to be made by strategic marketing of a catalogue.
