I just tried to retrieve the Hijack thread, but it's locked  How come? Anyhoo, what happened to CNN Headline News? It's BBC News (all the time now). I went to put "Showbiz Tonite" on last nite at 11:00 (it puts me to sleep ) and it was BBC news and still is now. Please explain. Or is it just a Canadian Broadcasting thing?

CNN Headline News is different then just CNN. It's on a different channel and it's constant news, no special stories, no news conferences, no specials reports. I only watch it for "Showbiz Tonite", its like Entertainment Tonite but smutier (is that word  ).

I just checked it ,CNN Headline news is still on here on ch 61 comcast cable in Connecticut.I wonder if their rating were down up there and the cable company drop it. Fox news is killing them here. I've have not watch much of showbiz tonight. But I do watch Entertainment Tonight,The Insider, Access Hollywood,Extra and E Entertainment's Enews, some times on a daily basis.

They are worth a thread. I was way into them from about 90-94. Bloodletting is a brilliant record. I am afraid Johnette lost the plot after Mexican Moon. Her writing output has very spotty quality after that. But what a set of pipes.

I had Bloodletting on cassette (why cassette? Don't remember) and I played it a lot. I had briefly moved back to LA, and her dusty dark cowgirl thing, well just the general aesthetic worked for me.

What do you do if you're terrified of spiders and found that one has taken up long-term res in your closet? I have this ugly brown bastard that has been sitting in the corner for ages now. I'm talking a month here. He's still alive, but he doesn't move much. There's no food for him in there, unless you count the peanutbutter on the mousetrap.

Ugh. Go figure, I clean my ENTIRE closet, and leave one little web, thinking that whatever built it has moved on... :p

Eww. Ugh... I checked in the corner a few days ago, and thought it was gone. I didn't know whether to be relieved or scared because I had no idea where he was! I'm glad I don't have much in there, aside from old video games, shoes (eek, wait, those are precious!), and my bird's stuff. I've taken out her food so I don't have to go in there every day.

I should just suck that ****er up, shouldn't I? I wonder if it's the same spider I came eye to uh.. eyes? with a couple of months ago ( ). I tried to vacuum it up and it ran away.

Aw.. it's just a little ol' spider. He won't eat much.

Actually, I used to be afraid of 'em. My husband always had to get them for me. I remember when I first bought this house I'm in, and he was no longer around to get 'em for me, I had them EVERYWHERE!!! I tried to get 4 year old Sara to get one with a shoe for me. She wasn't having it. So I had to get him with a shoe... I've grown to be ok with them now.

The weird thing is, I used to freakin' love 'em. We had a study unit on them in third grade, and I went all over the house catching them to bring into school. And then... I don't know, I was just afraid of them all of the sudden. I can't even kill them with a shoe because I hate the idea of spider guts. I usually just leave them alone. But this bitch has overstayed his welcome!

I wonder if their rating were down up there and the cable company drop it.

Bingo! I just called my cable supplier and they dropped it. They said that they are not told why, but that it is usually because of low ratings and supply and demand. So no more "Showbiz Tonite" at 11:00 p.m. to put me to sleep. That means no more A.J. Hammer :( They also dropped the Speed Channel but they added two Classic Movie channels, so that's good.

So I recorded it (on my Betamax! ) and got up an hour earlier in the morning to watch it before school. So there I was sitting at 5 am, watching Home, and I was scared crapless. When they pulled the mother from under the bed and she does her scary hissing thing, I actually screamed. Woke up the entire house. Ah...good times. :p

Hmm. I'm convinced my ex-roommate was an undiagnosed manic-depressive. For one thing, his mother had it, and was on meds for it (and it's genetic, you know). He definitely did crazy things - risky sexual behavior, buying things he couldn't afford ($1500 vacuum cleaners, trips to Europe) when he didn't even have a job. And then he would get so depressed that he wouldn't come out of his room for two days.

Anyway, Curtis, it's hard to tell just from message board posts. You do seem depressed at times, so I hope you're taking care of yourself. :wavey:

I had a friend who finally got treated when she hit bottom, she tried to jump out of a car on the freeway while on vacation in CA because she thought people were after her. So crazy. But she is happy and well today after getting treatment!

Funny how people so often use ck when the truly appropriate letter combination is ss.

:]

We'll get to that eventually, I'm sure...:wavey:

What I initially meant though was that, while BLOODLETTING is a beautiful album, I thought MEXICAN MOON was just a masterpiece and a perfect swan song for Concrete Blonde. I adore Johnette.

DO drag it out again. In fact, I think I am going to put it on right after I finish my dinner. MM is just perfect from beginning to end...it's a beauty to me!

SXSW is beggin' for you and you know it! There is still plenty of time to register. Livia and I have already planned on attending the HIGH TIMES day party -- a friend of ours is performing (the gorgeous Dave Derrick who truly is the male Jodi Foster and his rockin' band HELLAPENO) where the magazine is giving Willie Nelson a lifetime achievement award! Now, really...how cool is that? LOL

And about that other thing...:)

YES!
That's Dave! I've been a friend of his since 1988. Back then I had a local radio show and I played the HELL out of PARIAH and had them on my show quite a bit. PARIAH was a great band. I was so excited that I got thanked in their credits on their Geffen CD.
There isn't a day that goes by where I don't think about Sims...he was just about the sweetest guy that you could meet.
I saw Dave a couple of months ago and got to meet his lovely wife. I'm looking forward to seeing him again next month. He's an incredible showman!

Kai Hansen (Singer/Guitarist of Gamma Ray) signed his name in regular black ink right dead in the middle of the cover, but over to the right of his name the ink pen had a 'malfunction'

The other 3 members of Gamma Ray - Dirk Schlachter (Bass), Dan Zimmerman (Drums) & Henjo Richter (Guitar/Keyboards) signed in silver Sharpie. But knowing how Kai has a major sense of humor he probably did the scribble on purpose

Or is it just a Canadian Broadcasting thing?

did you get your answer on this? (seven pages is too much to wade through right now - sorry!)

it's a rogers cable thing (are you on rogers?). i got a letter from them a few weeks ago - they took away cnn headline news and a couple others. replaced them with different channels. probably if you go to the rogers website, it'll have the details..

Why doesn't my ****head boss hire another person?

One of the girls quit over a month ago and the cheap bastard still hasn't replaced her. And now another girl is out all this week because of a death in the family. So we've essentially gone from five staff members, to four, to three. And I? Get to work all day every day this week (except Sunday, 'cause we're closed). I worked from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and again today. And guess what? I get to to do it tomorrow, too. And Saturday I get to work from 8:00 a.m. until sometime between 2 and who-the-hell-knows-when. The office closes at 2:00 on Saturdays, but it's not unheard of for the staff to still be there until 4 or 6.
Oh, and this Saturday is pay day, which means I won't see the benefits of this insane week until March 3.

Lucky me.

so I didn't know where to put this, but it cracked my ass up.

My friend told me this story last night.

Last weekend her husband was on call. He had been gone for a few hours and then came home. She was there cooking dinner in her Christmas tree flannel pajamas (she stressed to me.."they had Christmas trees" ) anyway. she finished dinner, and he got another call to leave. As he was walking out, she told him "o.k. I'll keep you a plate for later tonight"

He got overly excited about a plate of dinner and smiled and said "OK!!!!"

about an hour and a half later, he comes in and she's in bed watching tv. Still in Christmas tree pj's. Except now she had a heating pad on her Left elbow and one on her Right knee. He got in bed and started "snuggling" She pushed him away and he got so pissed off.

"WHAT!? were you just TEASING me earlier?!!"
"earlier? huh? what are you talking about?"

he said "earlier! when you told me you'd keep me up late tonight"

I've been to the ER I have yet to have my wife as my nurse

She would have enjoyed poking my wound to deaden it before the staple, just so she could say "See, your ass is owned now bitch!" (This is the same woman, who as I drove the car after giving blood, yanked the damn bandage off my hairy arm in one fast yank!!! Frikkin sneak attack - ouch!)

My hand is healing nicely, but hilariously the wound with the staples closing it up now looks like a, uh, well....A 'certain' female body part
