Hey Guys....

Alex (greatdarkwing) just checked in from the Ft. Lauderdale show. Wanted me to let you know it's the same Dreams setlist from Vegas. Currently she is singing Stand Back. Stevie's having/had ear monitor problems and is NOT very happy about it. In fact she cursed about it and thinks the audience deserves a free show!! He did say that her vocals are awesome though.

I'll let you know if I hear anything else!!

Yes, that's the quote.

Alex says she is off. At least she is giving them good vocals. I'm sure she's screwed up cause of the monitors

There is something so sexy about Stevie cursing. I love all the demos with her banter and sailor talk. "it's that FU*KING note, that fu'king note!"
It was also hot when Lindsey cursed at the audience member over in England during SYW. "get the FUC* outta here". :D

Show's out. Alex is pissed. The crowd was soooo bad. Security didn't let anyone up for the Edge walk. She went to go shake hands and there wasn't anyone there, so she just bowed and then went back and sang the rest of the song. Alex almost got into a fist fight with some random guy. Hopefully by the time he gets home, he will be in a better mood and give everyone a few more details.

I think for the May set we will see duets for Solitary Man and It's Late - maybe another cover like Circle Dance and R&R. IF she were smart, she would do high harmony on Wicked Game and Spanish Sky - which would send me into orbit!

Damn, It sounds like the venue owes Stevie a HUGE apology and more percentage of the ticket sales because of this.

Stevie, ya gotta get a new ear monitor or hire a better stage hand or something. I will volunteer. :wavey:

Man, I hope she adds at least HSML back in the Vegas set. I am going to finally see her in Vegas and I have never seen HSML done live in concert before in person. That song/Stevie just oozes sex appeal.

I just got back from the FL show and I agree about the crowd! I looked at my husband when she said the F word and said "Did she just say F***? LOL, she doesn't curse on stage!!" Anyway, she did not sing HAEWAFY. She did look so beautiful during BATB, though. I think that one would have sounded prettier sung alone without the 3 birds of Rhiannon. I was on the floor and couldn't see (since this venue didn't have screens). I was wondering why she didn't shake hands during the Edge walk. She finally did take a few things from the audience and shook a few hands at the far end of the stage.

"You know.. why create technology if this is going to happen...

...this would never happen with teleprompters

I was so shocked that she cursed.

She's so hard on herself.. a perfectionist..

I hate that about her.

Thats probably why she doesnt want to make new music; her perfection would confine her to a studio for 2 years or more.

I think she was great. Amazing. Better than Vegas.

i'll go for free with work if the opportunity presents itself. if not, i won't go at all. i've been listening to the same concert since the first vegas show -- it was exciting then. not so much now. of course, i think we've established the shows she's doing aren't for hardcore fans but rather those nostalgia tripping or else she wouldn't have the same setlist and tour at every opportunity with said setlist. the only thing that will be exciting for me is what she'll sing with chris.

Well, sadly, the highlight for me was the whole cursing incident. It was downhill from there. Her vocals were great but this had to be one of her lowest energy shows I've ever seen. I kept waiting for her to "kick in" but it never happened. Very, very uninspired. I'm not sure how much of that was due to her monitor problems. I wouldn't even have minded the setlist if she had put a little more energy into the whole thing. Her outfits were exactly the same as her Gold Dust shows except for the first few songs when she wore the Superbowl ensemble. Sorry to say it folks, but this show was disappointing.

I saw Heart perform there last spring and security wouldn't let anyone to the front of the stage, because , get this the tribal chief didn't want anyone blocking his view from the front row. After several songs Ann Wilson gave the OK and we made our way to the front of the stage.
I am sorry to miss a Stevie show, but I will never attend a show at that venue again .....

I just remember when The Enchanted tour happened and she hauled crap out of the cellar - I mean we got Garbo, Sleeping Angel, Rose Garden, After the Glitter Fades, etc. She also sang like 18 songs each show -

Outside The Rain
Dreams
Enchanted
Gold Dust Woman
Gold and Braid
Stop Draggin' My Heart Around
After The Glitter Fades
Garbo
Rose Garden
Sleeping Angel
Stand Back
Rhiannon
Whole Lotta Trouble
Landslide
Twisted
Edge of Seventeen
I Need to Know (encore)
Has Anyone Ever Written Anything for You (encore)

And - she did that cool acoustic part that ended with Slleping Angel, which she nailed.

I just do not get why she is so uninspired lately, esp. when Circle Dance was great and she was electric in the Petty shows.

Come on Stevie - haul some oldies out of the cellar and get a new dress or ten!!!!!!

Almost all musicians I know have them on stage. It is real easy to get lost in a song and the TP is a security net if you will. I think in this instance, she was talking about the speakers directly in front of her mic that allow her to hear herself sing instead of relying on the IED - it is hard to hear yourself and others on stage - thus, these devices.

I know, but let's keep in mind:

Then: She had just gotten off The Dance tour & was enjoying a resurgence in popularity. She was very proud of the box set, and Behind The Music & Storytellers was all over TV. Lots of confidence.

Now: Superbowl pregame appearance had some going "wow, she's still around?" However, touring with Petty last year was a great idea. It can do nothing but help her.

Then: She hadn't toured solo in 4 years & was in great voice. Anything would have been fresh & new, although the setlist did end up being a wonderful shock.

Now: She's been touring every year since 2001 (except '02), either solo or with Mac. The past 20 months she's toured on & off with NOTHING to support. Yes, she's tossed in IFA, HSML, R&R, CD on & off, but that's it. There's no reason for her to change things up, she's realxing, having fun & making some cash while she's at it.

The above is why I'm hoping that she WILL make some changes to the set - she'll have something new to get excited about. And since it's a GH package, she really should play some songs that are actually on the CD/DVD to support it - like the Timespace tour. Dump Enchanted, put in Talk To Me. Do Blue Denim and/or I Can't Wait. Make sure IFA stays in. Etc.

As much as we hope and want her to, she will not sing anything from '86-'94. Talk To Me was too difficult to record, let alone sing it live now, with a lower tone in her voice. Songs from Street Angel? Forget it.

I'm going to be really honest here........

I'm really dissapointed to hear that she hasn't changed the set list, but not only that, she cut AMAZING songs like HSML....

I have never seen Stevie solo, and I just want to be blown away when I see her this summer. I am worried that her voice will be even more fatigued and uninspired.

I wish I could figure out a way I could meet Stevie during the tour, but all my attempts so far have failed, so maybe it just wasn't meant to be, but oh well.

Hope you all are well.

Much Love,
Ethan

I think her voice sounds okay. There is a clip of the concert (Landslide) up on the 7W board (all due credit given and thanks again to the poster!!!!!!) - and she sounds and looks good. So, if you are into the GH and the same non-GH songs, by all means have at it

Yes, this FL setlist makes me unhappy. Greatly. If this ends up being the setlist for the summer tour, I would seriously have to think long and hard about whether or not I want to pay to see the same show again (although I know I probably will...but I won't travel far!).

Having said that though, and maybe I am being overly optimistic, I do think she'll change it up for the summer. She'll have more time for rehearsal between now and May. Clearly she snatched Brett and Taku up from Lindsey, so would they have had time to rehearse anything new for these FL shows? I'm not sure. I'd like to think that it's possible...but maybe she would just rather debut the new setlist with the new tour?

I don't know. Girl better step it up if she wants to keep her fans as avid as she has the ability to!

see, but that's the point i was trying to make earlier -- yes, she has the ability to do so but this tour isn't about her avid fans -- if it was, she'd make multiple changes so it's not the same show we've been seeing and hearing for the past few years. this is about getting paid and fulfilling a contract from what i can tell. it's about going on the road and people hearing she's touring -- again -- and saying, "wow...stevie nicks...i used to love her...let's go!" and i'm not saying there's something wrong with that -- it just is what it is.

I know she was having pack problems that night, but she plays with her pack quite a lot. To me, it's distracting. I've never been to a Stevie show where she doesn't fiddle with it in every song. I've never seen another artist do it so much.

she does play with it a lot. I can understand why though...she probably needs to hear herself more during certain songs. if the audience is going wild and starts to drown out her earpiece, she probably turns it up or if it's a slow song where the volume of the earpiece is too loud, she probably turns it down.

It seems to be a nervous habit. I was at last nites concert.....Stevie was awesome and beautiful........and showed that she is only human and was really pissed that her earphones weren't working......but she was a pro and did great. She was very talkative and "cursed"..... as well as joked with her drummer with the wild hair....paxton.....she was teasing him about being from "Jersey" saying it in a really cute jersey accent. The fans were into it......as you can see from Landslide video.....I love Stevie regardless of what she sings.......most of the crowd were not true fans like on the Ledge....that is what they want to hear.

But I refuse to believe that these "casual" fans come wanting to hear Enchanted, Outside the Rain, Fall From Grace, Rock and Roll. I agree completely with Strand that these are the songs that Stevie can switch for new stuff. Of course she's gonna do the hits, but I don't think she's satisfying anyone except herself and her comfort zone by continuing to play Enchanted, etc.

I would have been happy with this set list if she didn't tell Jim Ladd (and essentially us) that she was going to change her whole vegas show around. If that set (in Vegas) was just suppose to be normal it would have been awesome. She amped us up for diaster. I'm glad im not alone with the disappointing set list. I just DON'T get it. Why add crappy ass covers when she had a 30 year span of songs. Taku has stated numerous times he can't be of any assistance when it comes to Stevie's set list. He shows up to rehearsals, and plays the songs they have on the sheet with them.
Plus, Taku won't be playing with Stevie this summer, so it won't help regardless.

Ok, Ok... I think I might finally be coming over to the dark-side. Maybe it's taken me this long because I haven't actually spent money to see Stevie in concert. I don't know.
But, yeah, I'm starting to feel everyone's disappointment with the setlists and I'm starting to finally understand where you're all coming from.

Truth be told, if I had a chance to see her, I'd honestly want to hear all the songs she's currently playing (they are still among my favorite songs -- "overplayed" or not). But if I paid (and travelled) to see her frequently, I guess I'd probably be really disappointed too.

Having said that, it doesn't surprise me that she didn't change her setlist for the Florida shows. And I don't mean that in a cynical way. Just given that some of her band is currently touring with Lindsey, I doubt they had time to rehearse anything different.
Hopefully there will be a few "new" songs for the Summer tour with Chris Isaak though.

Part of her band didn't show up until the day of the actual show and were on the road with Lindsey before. How was she supposed to come up with something new? This wasn't an actual tour, these were just some scattered dates. She has a month and a half before Vegas. Though I don't think she will change much of the setlist for Vegas, surely she'll make some changes for the summer tour. Even she has to realize you can't tour for two years with the same setlist.

I hope.

Okay, so no one loves this setlist.Well, we should probably qualify that by saying that the diehards don't love the setlist.
Obviously the majority of the audience does. Which is why she still plays to several thousand people per show.

I'd venture to guess that we only make up about 25-35% of her concert-goers.

I thought you were reducing - BAD BAD BOY {{{spank}}}I have a bad attitude when it comes to diet and exercise. I don't want anything bad enough to deny myself the foods I love and to walk around with my muscles sore and aching constantly.

You were, however, exercising there for awhile and not eting as much fast food.I've really never eaten a lot of fast food, but I do like a Big Mac & fries from time to time.
I just refuse to deny myself my love of greasy pepperoni pizza. Or pasta. Or bread. Or mashed potatoes and gravy. And so on.
If I can't eat those things, I'd rather not eat. And I'm not interested in spending an hour, or more, every day "working it off" with exercise.

See, told you I'm stubborn about this kind of stuff.

I did mean no one here loves the setlist and should have been more clear.

I wonder if the non-diehards love the setlist. They get most of the hits, so maybe. I would love to interview them and get their thoughts on songs like Enchanted, OTR, Fall From Grace, Rock And Roll and whether they would want to hear them over and over.

Hm, see that's what I was thinking also. I can't believe you guys actually expected something new.

I hope.

I'd think any band worth anything would be able to come up with something new with just a little bit of time. I find it so hard to believe that this band Stevie has had for years only knows 14 songs or whatever. As someone said on sevenwonders (full credit given), this isn't first grade music class.

If Stevie wanted to do something different, they could do something different.

...and no, I never expected a change in setlist but I am pretty surprised two songs from Vegas were dropped. This is an extremely short setlist.

There are a lot of various reasons why I haven't seen Stevie since '90... but the two main ones are my panic disorder and the cost of tickets.

I'm always working on managing the panic disorder though (meds-free)... I have an occasional setback, but I've also made great strides... so maybe within the next few years, I'll get to see Stevie.

They do that thing at every show. Stevie never knows her cue to start singing, Waddy is counting for her "one two one two three four". They do it on all the DVD's I have, they do it at the middle too. I can understand why the beginning is hard to start off but that part after the wail is fairly easy.

In the dark before she starts singing, you can see her motioning "DOWN" firmly with both her arms to someone to the left of her off stage... Obviously it was way too loud - then during the song it looks like she pulls out the earpieces a little so they are so embedded in her ear... Sounds like she says, "but I'm cool" just before the high tech remark...
