I love this man. He was a bit brutal about her appearance, but overall both Howard and Robin thought she sounded great.

Here ya go... (his rap starts at around 0:55 into the clip)

I didn't listen to it yet, but I'm glad he was semi-nice. Of course he'd have to bash her for her looks but I think he's a fan of her music.

paraphrasing, but essentially he says he loves her... "But What Happened". Says it's horrible what happened to her - Says that both her and Linda Ronstad(sp), where the choice pieces of ass in the day - and they've both kind of gone down hill... She looks like a gypsy witch... Said she sang well... It's live.. It's outdoors.. The mixing wasn't great... But she's soo good... If the music would have been good it would have been fine... He blames the tv audio...

^^^What he said. :p

For the uninitiated, getting a blessing from Howard Stern is like getting a blessing from the Pope. He's a really tough critic of everything, so Stevie should be honored, even despite the comments about her looks. And it seems that if she passes muster with him, she passes muster with his rabid fanbase. I think I would just about faint if Stevie made an appearance on his show behind the new CD.

I think Howard was one of those guys who was in love from a distance with Stevie back in the day.
Plus I think he says the derogatory stuff about her and Linda's appearances to appeal to his young male demographic.

ITA... but come on... you cannot compare Stevie with Linda Ronstadt. For one thing, Linda is really, really large... but then again, she's also been dealing with a chronic thyroid condition :distress: . But then again... Linda's voice is astonishingly well-preserved after all these years.

True. Last time I saw Linda perform about 10 years ago, they rolled her out in a wheelchair due to back issues. I didn't know she had a thyroid problem as well. Her voice is still one of the most amazing voices ever. It gives me chills just thinking bout it.

I'm still kicking myself for not catching Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris at the Beacon Theatre several years ago on the "Western Wall" tour. Ugh!!!!  That album is among my all-time favorites. Linda's powerhouse vocal on "For a Dancer" totally kills me every time I hear it.

The old double standard is so unfair. But it will never go away. We all know the only reason Howard gets laid is because of his money, not because he's such a nice guy, which he reportedly really is.

Yeah, right? But then again, he always looked like Joey Ramone's fuglier half-brother.  So it's not like he's had to fall from a high perch.

He wasn't bad at all. Considering how harsh he can be, this was nothing. He clearly loves her. If she'd had a massive facelift and still weighed 100 pounds he would be hollering about how hot she was. Not the case, so he doesn't. He calls it like he sees it.

Damn, I miss listening to him. He's fun.

Yeah, but it almost goes without saying that he would be all in her deal about the Eagles members she's slept with, especially Joe Walsh, since he is a good friend of his. But you're right... he would be so starstruck. I remember when the Dixie Chicks were on his show last year, Howard specifically requested that they perform "Landslide," since it is one of his favorite songs.

IMO HS usually picks on the girls that put it out there, like Courteney Love, etc. I think if La Nicks did his show, they would laugh a bunch and he would tease her in a less polemic way.

Nobody will remember him 10 or 20 years from now. He'll be drooling in some nursing home someplace grabbing nurses tushies:lol:

Stevie's music will live on and on and on and hell she probably will still be on that stage singing in 10 years:) :xoxo:

You're so wrong. He's one of the best interviewer/broadcasters out there. The only negative thing he's contributed to radio is that he's spawned so many bad imitators that have gone straight to the gutter with their SHOCK tactics and no-limits abuse of other people, i.e. the woman who died recently from water poisoning after participating in an on-air stunt. Nobody's done his schtick right but Howard.

And if Stevie would ever appear on his show, I'm sure he would go for the sex talk, leave her weight out of it and just be totally respectful to her.

Exactly.

I've listened to Howard for 15 years now. He'd probably have some crude questions/comments for her, but overall he'd probably be very repectful. Howard tends to be more respectful to his more accomplished guests. I doubt Stevie would ever do his show though.

I missed his comments about Stevie yesterday, but a friend of mine filled me in. She came up to me at work and said, "jamie- did you hear what Howard said this morning about STEVIE NICKS??" Then she said it wasn't that bad and told me the jist of it. I was relieved.

I'm sure she's never appeared on his show and completely understand him not being your cup of tea. He's really hard to enjoy from the broadcast of his TV shows and my favorite moments come from his interaction with Robin Quivers, his co-host, and his celebrity interviews. I don't care for his boob fixation and he does tend to prefer his women anorexic, but all in all his show is really so much more than that.

Glad he complimented her singing but who is he to talk about looks? Plus she is 58 years old. I'd like to see his ugly ass at her age. Sheesh. Did he talk about Prince's looks or is it the same old double standard?

She hasn't but the rest of the band did once. I have a cassette tape of it. He was bashing Stevie for not being there and the other band members didn't really step up to defend her either, which ticked me off.

Yeah, he did. He said he looked great and was holding it together (true story). Also that his guitar solo in Purple Rain was one of the best of all time. Then they talked about how he was singing the song in a lower key. And that the guitar in the performance was out of tune, which it was.

Howard Stern wouldn't be turned on by a woman unless she was barely 18 and totally naked in his studio having baloney slices thrown on her bare ass cheeks. HE'S A WHORE!

As far as the music goes, I think he's right on the tv audio. We all know Stevie can still sing. We've heard it with our own frickin" ears, LIVE, and in person!
