BURBANK, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- February 01, 2007 -- In the news release, "'REFLECTIONS - THE VERY BEST OF STEVIE NICKS' CD/DVD Package Scheduled for March 27 Release," issued earlier today by Warner Bros. Records, we are advised by the company that the title of Stevie Nicks album is "CRYSTAL VISIONS... THE VERY BEST OF STEVIE NICKS" rather than "REFLECTIONS - THE VERY BEST OF STEVIE NICKS" as originally issued. Complete corrected text follows.
"CRYSTAL VISIONS... THE VERY BEST OF STEVIE NICKS" CD/DVD Package Scheduled for March 27 Release
Nicks to Perform at Super Bowl Pre-Game on CBS This Sunday
BURBANK, CA -- February 01, 2007 -- Stevie Nicks, one of the most successful female artists in rock history and the embodiment of the transcendent power of music, is scheduled to release "CRYSTAL VISIONS... THE VERY BEST OF STEVIE NICKS" on March 27th; it was announced today by her label, Reprise Records. "CRYSTAL VISIONS" is an extraordinary collection of songs from the multi-platinum, multi-Grammy Award winning Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee's stunning three decade career as a solo artist and member of the legendary Fleetwood Mac.
"CRYSTAL VISIONS... THE VERY BEST OF STEVIE NICKS" opens with the original mastered studio version of "Edge of Seventeen" and closes with a live performance of the song recorded last summer with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. In between are Nicks' classics including "Stand Back," "Leather and Lace" and "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" with Tom Petty. The CD also has a live version of "Landslide" (also recorded with the Melbourne Symphony), "Rhiannon" and a knock-out version of Led Zeppelin's "Rock and Roll." Other standouts are a haunting version of "Sorcerer" sung with Sheryl Crow which was originally on Nicks' "TROUBLE IN SHANGRI-LA" CD, the Deep Dish dance remix of "Dreams" and "Silver Springs" from the original master of "RUMOURS" -- a cult favorite which appeared only as a b-side to "Go Your Own Way."
The DVD component of "CRYSTAL VISIONS" offers 13 Stevie videos with voice-over commentary by Nicks as well as an audio interview by journalist David Wild. Also included on the DVD is a never before seen Stevie Nicks home video which was filmed during the making of the five-times platinum "BELLA DONNA" album. The accompanying booklet will have original Stevie Nicks art work as well as photographs and personal pictures hand-picked by the artist representing a cross section of iconic pictures spanning her entire career.
Stevie Nicks is scheduled to perform this weekend (Feb. 4) at the Super Bowl pre-show in Miami this Sunday airing on CBS and is headed back to the famous Collosseum at Caesars Palace for a return engagement of her specially conceived critically acclaimed show on March 20, 21, 23 and 24.
This Spring, Nicks will embark on a national concert tour with Chris Isaak. Dates for the tour will be announced shortly.

I actually liked Reflections better...but, I think (if this is actually true) they were probably throwing both names around and then had to decide on one for press releases and at the eleventh hour Stevie changed her mind.

I am sure that is exactly the way it happened. Tis probably why there has been no cover art on Amazon etc. I bet the cover art appears quite soon .

I greatly prefer 'Crystal Visions.'
It's more "Stevie," and it's more original -- since, as has been pointed out, both Carly Simon and Mary J. Blige have recent career retrospectives with the title of 'Reflections.'

Johnny Stew - did the same thing occur to you when you read this? remember the Ledge compiled collection of Stevie demos and live stuff we all put together way, way back and then had a competition to give it a title and I won with...yep, Crystal Visions.
I still have that tape with the awesome drawing of Stevie's eyes...

I like Crystal Visions better because that can be uniquely identified as Stevie Nicks. Reflections could be anybody: Mary J. Blige and Carly Simon as mentioned earlier or even Diana Ross for chrissakes.
Except for some of the song choices being a little disappointing (namely "Sorcerer" -- "Fall From Grace" was a much better song off TISL), it actually sounds like a decent collection. I'm definitely jazzed to get a cover version of "Rock And Roll" on a commercial release, though I'd have also liked "I Need To Know." The home video stuff and the interview/Stevie commentary sounds like the sort of stuff we should be getting from our heroes.
I'd be first in line to buy it on Tuesday, but Tuesdays are the busiest day at my job. I gotta put out a newspaper ya know. lol

I agree... I think "Crystal Visions" is almost on the verge of self-parody. By contrast, I thought "Timespace" was a really cool, original name. Even if Stevie were to stay within the nostalgia column, they could have pulled out something a little more unexpected:
"Lady from the Mountain: the Best of Stevie Nicks"
"Sorceress: the Best of Stevie Nicks"
"Mirror, Mirror... the Best of Stevie Nicks"
"Doing the Best I Can: the Best of Stevie Nicks"

They also gave Sheryl Crow a copy of this at a show with Stevie. I wonder if that copy made it to Stevie?Yep, Travis and George compiled that... and did a fantastic job.
I remember several of us speculating whether or not Sheryl may have brought it to Stevie's attention, since a couple of the demos George & Travis included on the compilation ended up on 'Trouble In Shangri-La.'

Yes, the board. :o Apparently in a thread discussing other possible titles, "Crystal Visions" was mentioned. The next day, Stevie changed the title. Seems a few people over there have convinced themselves that someone must have seen the thread and reported back to Stevie's "family" and then they told Stevie about it and she decided "uh, I must change the album title, I never would have thought of CV on my own" (didn't she write those words???? snort) You should probably head over to Seven Wonders and read the thread, Cat.
There has been no cover art on Amazon etc, so maybe Stevie had not decided on a title until just the other day.
Also, Crystal Visions was a name that Jaz came up with on the Ledge awhile ago. Maybe Stevie was rereading old Ledgie threads? haha

Well thank you John for the props. But George and I can't take full credit for "Crystal Visions", the title of the tape. I'm reading that it was Jazmen who came up with the title. I honestly don't recall but I have no reason to doubt that it is true. I remember we had a round of voting and CV eventually won. My own idea for the title was "Ledge Angel", being it was a tape made by ledgies for ledgies.
I'm not sure if you guys remember though but I posted that George and I attended a Sheryl Crow concert in Camden, NJ - I'm guessing either 98 or 99 and I tossed a copy of the tape "Crystal Visions" on the stage to Sheryl. And two of the songs (demos) that were on the tape made it onto TISL, "Nomad" (aka Candlebright) and "Sorcerer." Probably a coincidence I'm sure, but hey, you never know ;-)

The Nicksfix says the album is called reflections:
Reflections
Stevie is scheduled to release "REFLECTIONS - THE VERY BEST OF STEVIE NICKS" on March 27th on Reprise Records. "REFLECTIONS" is a collection of songs from her three decade career as a solo artist and member of the legendary Fleetwood Mac.
I know the nicksfix is almost definitely wrong, considering the press release was even changed to "Crystal Visions" and everything - but how could her official site post the wrong title? Its pretty hopeless if you ask me .

I agree... I think "Crystal Visions" is almost on the verge of self-parody.
I'm not sure there ever was a time when Stevie wasn't on the edge (verge, I changed it for artistic purposes) of self parody. It happens with very distinctive artists. I mean, in theory. She's so specific and self absorbed and consistent in her themes that it is pretty unavoidable. I mean, it might as well be called Crystal Visions, why stop now?
"All alone...on the edge of...self parody..." :p
Luckily, I love her themes. Or whatever. I mean, really, is she all of a sudden going to become different? Most names you could choose that still evoke Stevie could be considered self parodious. Yes, parodious. Check your Amber to English dic.

Part of the reason La Nicks can still draw somewhat of a crowd is because she set about making up her unquie image over 3 decades ago and has really not deviated much from her Rhainnon persona that initially catapulted her to stardom, that and the high quality of her songwriting for a period of about 8 to 10 years that happened to coincide with the baby boomers coming of age..If people were going to see her for vocal performance alone now she would be playing steak houses and Linda Ronstadt would be selling out stadiums.

I think Stevie has, throughout her career, always managed to be Stevie Nicks without trying too hard to be Stevie Nicks. Her album titles have always been interesting, unexpected, but still quintessentially Stevie Nicks. Well, maybe with the exception of The Enchanted Works of Stevie Nicks. Crystal Visions just makes me go, "meh."
But you're right... in lots of other respects she has teetered over the edge into self-parody. I think the most intensely self-parodious song evah might be "One More Big Time Rock and Roll Star." It's like 5+ minutes of pure, unfiltered, condensed Stevie caricature and cliche! It's so deliciously self-indulgent, you can't help but love it.

One of my favorite sites, MusicTAP (http://www.musictap.net), posted this....
Reprise Records has produced a title for the Stevie Nicks package and will call it Crystal Dreams: The Very Best of Stevie Nicks. It arrives on March 27. Who caught the pre-game show with Stevie Nicks on Superbowl Sunday? She still looks great.
Typo? Or yet another title change?
I'm guessing it's the former.

I think Stevie has, throughout her career, always managed to be Stevie Nicks without trying too hard to be Stevie Nicks. Hear hear! The cover has the same look of design amateurishness that "Live in Boston" has. It's great for student work, but not for professional work.

Haven't seen or heard from them since the great Ledge War of 1998.Travis still posts here from time to time (in fact, he has "Addicted Ledgie" status, with 260 posts), but George tired of the drama and juvenile antics, and no longer even lurks here.

I tend to agree with Nixxed, although your design work is very nice, Danax6. :)
Herbie was great at capturing Stevie's essence back in the day. My problem with the pictures you chose is that they look staged, instead of capturing a facet of Stevie or capturing a special moment. I see more of a deliberately doe-eyed look. Reminds me of Little Red Riding Hood or a Disney heroine.
As for this supposed Crystal Visions cover art, I'm not a fan. The doodads extending from the "S" and "N" bring to mind Middle Eastern hookah pipes. I just don't look at it and think "Stevie Nicks~!," which makes me wonder how engaged the general record-buying public would be by that cover.
I get that Stevie was in a drug-induced haze that resulted in things like the Street Angel CD and the Miss Havisham of the unreleased "Unconditional Love" video. Now that she's clear-headed and has her feet on the ground -- reeboks or not -- it'd be nice to see something more polished.
Trouble In Shangri-La was presented well, for the most part like a piece of art. This doesn't look like it took much thought, or like anyone really cared.
Hmm, it only took me a few years to start complaining.

Do we know for sure that there was a video done for UL? Has it ever surfaced? It was rumoured many years ago, that those pics of Stevie where she's wearing the big, curly blond wig and is surrounded by a ton of candles and other chachki, were taken on the set of a video for "Unconditional Love."
However, in the 13 years since it would have been filmed, actual footage from it has never turned up.

Very good point. But I tend to go with these pics rather than the ones that are on the actual cover is because they express something. I think people would be more interested with a face like that on the cover than the 'Hi, I'm Stevie "Bored With Life" Nicks' cover they came up with.

The others are just OK. I actually like TVBOFM - at least how it continues the theme of the first 2 albums with S&L.I was just thinking that so many of these (and many, many more that I didn't have enough space to post URLs to) either utilize 25-35 year old photos and/or the most simplistic of fonts... both of the things everyone seems unhappy with, regarding 'Crystal Visions.'
And that 'Essential Heart' cover... they didn't even use a decent promo photo, but rather a "candid" taken during an interview where Ann's mouth is formed in mid-speech! Egads.
I would have been happier if Stevie's cover had a brand new (or at least relatively new) pic, but I still think it's very pretty and thoroughly "Stevie."
It is So exciting when we do eventually get a new Stevie album, just for that fact alone
However, when i look at the tracklisting and the cover, i see a bit of a sad situation!
Where do we go from here?
Tours with Chris Isaak who??????
Covers of Rock & roll ( a LZ song i absolutely loathe!!!done to death by Everybody!!)
Why doesn't Stevie just record some of her amazing unreleased songs (Julia/Sanctuary/She loves him still/smile at you etc etc) which wuld be much more interesting!!)

Why doesn't Stevie just record some of her amazing unreleased songs (Julia/Sanctuary/She loves him still/smile at you etc etc) which wuld be much more interesting!!)I was told a few years ago, by someone allegedly "in the know," that Stevie approached Warner/Reprise and proposed releasing some of her old demos and outtakes as they were recorded all those years ago, though with some new overdubs to freshen them up (a la "Reconsider Me"), but Warners passed.
Not to sound cynical or morbid, but maybe Warners thinks those old recordings would sell more once she's no longer with us. :distress:

TVBOFM is okay. I haven't figured out the symbolism behind the hand of god and the prophet's robes. Or whatever those are supposed to be.Crystal Visions.
The font on this package looks more like it belongs on a Harry Potter cover than a Stevie Nicks cover. The image is too crowded and blurred for my taste. It's not particularly artistic. Stevie has this whole romantic/gothic image thing going on. Her image should lend itself to interesting, creative covers. This supposed Crystal Visions art doesn't capitalize on that potential. :shrug:Definitely. I can come up with so many cool things they could do with the cover, if they'd step away from the 'mirrored image in the background' idea and this photo shoot.
