This is still listed on the Nicksfix (but of course that hasnt been updated since Jan 23) but I cant find any mention of this as being official anywhere. Not to be a downer, but I really dont think this is gonna happen...

Anyone hear otherwise?

for reals.

I heard that it's still up on Jana and Taku's website. and since she'll already be in FL, it just makes sense. Stevie's not big news anymore so they probably don't care to mention her in the promotion.

Given all the different google blurbs and mentions, I think it's going to happen. I just wish I knew WHEN in the 4 hour pre-game show it will happen. I guess I'll go ahead and tape all four hours of pregame show just to be safe. I really wish I had a smaller time frame though.

He'll sing it in a croaky, painful rasp. And look simultaneously constipated and drunk while doing it.

I was talking to my Uncle about this today (he's a HUUUUGE football fan), and he said that Stevie would most likely perform no earlier than 1-2 hours before kickoff, because they'd want as many people to already be in the stadium as possible for the performers.

Sounds logical!

According to the latest local news, Gloria Estefan is going to be presenting the Cirque Du Soleil performance...

I wonder who, if anyone, will be introducing Stevie? Also, Prince has a show here at the Hard Rock Live tomorrow night. Stevie might be in attendance...if she's in town, already.

Hey Stew. I think the pre-game show is always outside the stadium and is open to the general public. The Sheryl Crow concert a few years ago looked like it was on the back of a flatbed 18-wheeler.

The pre-game activities are usually in tented areas in the parking lot - not open to the public......

A few fast facts:

The performance celebrates football and the south of Florida.
Props and costumes are inspired by the works of arts of Romero Britto, a well known pop artist of his time.
Crew has just 4 minutes to build the backdrop of the performance and 2 minutes to tear it down, taking great care not to tear up the field before the game.
The entire performance lasts just 9 minutes!
With this year's theme in mind, "One game… one dream…", Louie Vega worked to create original composition and music to follow the performance.
350 artists, 278 of which are volunteers will participate in the event.
Stay tuned for more details…

It also said that this will air at precisely 5:50pm.....

According to this blurb, which is from the west coast, since they're saying it starts at 11 AM (it starts at noon here, in the central time zone), Stevie should be on about an hour and 55 minutes into it...so y'all do the math for your own timezone. Or do what I'm doing, don't take any chances and just record all of it...

CBS' pregame plans during their four-hour before-the-game-finally-starts show (11 a.m. to 3 p.m.):
-James Brown gets to ask the two head coaches about this first all-black head coach thing.
-Dick Enberg has a piece with former 49ers coach Bill Walsh (kinda like what Bob Costas did earlier this week on HBO's "Inside the NFL")
-Katie Couric (uggg) does a piece on Pittsburgh's Hines Ward and going back to Korea to find his roots (kinda like what ESPN's Jeremy Schapp did earlier this week).
-Randy Cross reports from Baghdad with the U.S. troops watching
-Stevie Nicks (12:55 p.m.), Cirque de Soleil (2:45 p.m.) and Bill Joel on the national anthem (3:15 p.m.) is also included.
The SB related junk actually starts at 9 a.m. with NFL Films filler, Phil Simms' "All-Iron" team is on at 10 a.m., which includes Hannah Storm talking to Doug Williams.
-And after it's all over, James van der Beek guest stars on an episode of "Criminal Minds," where Jim Nantz and Simms make a cameo in a storyline that deals with a murder at a Super Bowl party. How uplifting.
Also, CBS' "Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson" goes live from Miami and will pull in players before they fly home.

Wow, Stevie is an opening act for Cirque du Soleil :distress: . Kinda reminds me of that scene in This is Spinal Tap where they are the opening act for a puppet show. That was classic.

So there is almost a two-hour timeslot between Stevie and Cirque. Hmmm... do you suppose, Mama could possibly be getting a full set in?  I thought I read in another thread that Cirque had 4 minutes to set up and 2 minutes to break down... so, unless there is another opening act following Stevie, could she have that whole timeslot to herself? Let's hope!

Dude - and Sandy Mac - I am practically tearing up at the thought of her name announcement, the fact that she was asked to do this show, and the awesomeness that will ensue. I feel so Stevily justified and vindicated. I feel so proud of my girl. She is great, and everyone should realize such. And it appears they have *wipes eyes* Talkin bout my Ayngeyl.

Thank God we have SOME idea of when her performance will be within that 4-hour span! I mean, I love football, but I am less than excited about this year's Superbowl. (maybe because my Chargers and Patriots missed out)

My little 5-year-old niece is going to be SO surprised! We are going to my sister-in-law's house (her Mom's) for the Superbowl and my niece is a total Stevie fan. She became one on her own too - just from listening to her music when she has been over our house. No brainwashing required. Isn't that cute? :o

Bumper sticker - seriously, I was out at the gay bar this week, and I took an informal poll. Very favorable, in the "everybody likes Stevie Nicks" department.
The one guy wanted her to do Sara at the superbowl, though, so I'm not sure how reliable that is. I tried to say "sure, we all love Sara, but for the superbowl, it's not so good".

Also, I work for a printer that does bumper stickers. I think I shall do this one. I don't have a car, so didn't think of it so much before. But it's so obvious. Why is it obvious? Because really, everybody does like SN. Even if they don't remember they do until you remind them. Then they say "Oh, yeah, she's really good! I like her!"

well, not them personally. I meant the Mannings, in general. the entire family minus Archie and sons. although they were around here and there. in that family, if you are a boy you are a superstar athlete and if you are a girl you are a pageant queen. a couple of the wives of the Manning men were really nice, but for the most part they were label whores that talked about everybody.

I know I'm talking all out of school. my grandmother would be horrified.

Goosebumps even, this is so exciting! Kind of like Christmas morning in a way.
Yes, the idea that so many people will be watching our Lady kick ass on stage totally rocks.

I agree on the whole "everybody likes Stevie Nicks" thing because people at work know I am a fan and when people talk about her, they smile and you can tell they are going back in time to Rumours era or MTV early video era in the 80's

I have STV NX as my license plate and when I am driving around with my window down or in parking lots, I hear a recognition in people's voices of "hey, I remember Stevie Nicks"

So, yes on Sunday, I will feel a lot of Stevie pride and will be wiping away tears of joy from my face.

I do like the bumper sticker idea. I would buy one.
We should think of other cool slogans too for a variety of Stevie-ness we can put on our cars, etc... Her marketing people are totally asleep at the wheel when it comes to this sort of thing.

I wonder how many hits the Nicks Fix will get after Stevie's performance on Sunday or Monday (or Google/Internet searches) will be requested.
Would be kind of interesting to find out. I wonder how one goes about finding that type of information. Would be good information to use by Warner/Reprise or Stevie's Management.

It's awesome Stevie will be playing for an hour, but no one should get their hopes up about seeing any more than two, maybe three, full-length songs.

We might get additional glimpses of her throughout the entire set, but the main focus of the broadcast will remain on all of that "Road to the Super Bowl" hullabaloo.

What we really need is a satellite-feed, or something like that -- that would show the entire performance.

From what Taku wrote it seems pretty clear that Stevie will get maybe 10-15 minutes of airtime - right around 4pm Eastern.

Remember - she is not performing for the television audience - this is a Superbowl Party appearance........

Oh yeah, I almost forgot - Chris Isaak was on Extra last night, doing special reporting at the Superbowl. No mention of Stevie last night, but he will be on Extra again Monday nite, doing the same thing.

That's not how I understood Taku's post.

From what I understand, our appearance will air sometime in the first 15 minutes of the Pregame Show (4:05-4:15pm).

To me, that means, they'll show *something* of Stevie during that time slot, not Stevie during that entire time. I'd actually be surprised if they show one entire song. I'm hoping for more, of course, but I'm anticipating bits and pieces of video throughout the hour.

Hmm... So is that how it usually works then? I have never watched the game before, or the pre-game. Last year I went with the boyfriend to a SB party.. But only because I wanted to see The Stones on a big screen TV!

Subject Performing at the Superbowl Pregame Show
Hey all. Just a head's up that I will be performing with Stevie Nicks in Miami tomorrow at the Superbowl Tailgate Party. The performance will be at 4-5pm EST, and they will broadcast from our concert for the Superbowl Pregame Show on CBS. From what I understand, our appearance will air sometime in the first 15 minutes of the Pregame Show (4:05-4:15pm).

Hmmmm - not sure how you get to the thought that they'll be showing more throughout the hour when he says "4:05-4:15"!

and Stevie could be playing in the rain, since showers are forecast off and on today in Miami (Gives a whole new meaning to "Outside the Rain").

Sucks that the NFL Network wont be broadcasting her performance this afternoon.

Heads up: Right now, they're running about 5 or 6 minutes ahead of schedule, so Stevie may be on a bit earlier.

Macman: Cirque du Soleil is an acrobatic troupe. They've been performing in Vegas for several years. Their current show is all Beatles stuff. I wouldn't mind seeing that the next time I'm in Vegas.

Edit: Eeee! They just said something like, "Still to come, a performance by musical superstar, Stevie Nicks!"

2nd edit: Wow. The echoes are deafening. Someone should really start another "Stevie at the Superbowl thread." :p

Oh yeah, I almost forgot - Chris Isaak was on Extra last night, doing special reporting at the Superbowl. No mention of Stevie last night, but he will be on Extra again Monday nite, doing the same thing.

My DVR picked up the broadcast today before Oprah - I never watch this show, so I don't know if the same one will be re-broadcast when we get it again tonight after Jimmy Kimmel. But, check your listings!!

Anyway, they showed a few short clips of Chris Isaak interviewing Billy Joel, Fergie (he hugged her and told her she smelled good), and Stevie. In the "coming up after this break" segment, they were standing together w/ Chris holding a microphone, Stevie looked much better than she did during SB, better hair and lighting. Chris said, "See, I told you I know important people."

After the commercial break, they showed a short clip of INTK w/ Mark McGrath talking over it. Stevie was wearing the black, beaded, 3/4 sleeve, corset top - and wailing on the tambo. Paraphrasing here: On the voiceover, Mark McGrath said that Stevie had a surprise confession. Chris asked her if she'd ever dated any football players. Stevie said, "Well, I've never even been to a football game, because I've always been in a band. And when you're in a band, you play every Friday and Saturday night and you never get to go to football games." SB clip, w/ more voiceover from McGrath: "Stevie may be missing more games since she and Chris Isaak are going on the road together in the spring." Then they cut back to Chris and Stevie and she had a huge smile, did her left "jazz hand" and then a thumbs up.

That's cool. But someone should tell Stevie that NFL football is played on Sundays. Maybe she meant she'd be too tired after shows. yeah. That's it.

I thought the same thing - and then I thought, "Well, high school football is on Fridays, college football is on Saturdays, so maybe she meant ALL football?"
