Sorry, this is a long one....

Had a great short trip to Vegas to see Lindsey and the show was excellent. The set list was the same as it has been. The theatre looked like it was filled to me. I had front row seats. I wasn't sure if we'd be able to go to the stage, but when I saw people start going up for World Turning and NOT being kicked back to their seats, I joined in too!! Unfortunately, not a lot of people following. No one was next to me for a long time and I was only slightly off the center of the stage. That felt kind of weird. I wanted more people to come up and eventually, a few more did, but not a lot. For I'm So Afraid, when Lindsey steps out from behind the mic to do the solo part, he stood right in front of me for the entire solo. He was close enough to touch, but I let him work in peace. VERY exciting. This is one of my favorite songs and I just happen to be standing where Lindsey came out to play that solo. This is an experience I will never forget and every time I hear I'm So Afraid, I will always think of it! If anyone was at last night's show and got any photos of Lindsey while playing the solo, I would love to have a copy of it! I was so afraid (pun intended!) to reach into my purse and take my camera out and he was so close to me, I probably wouldn't have gotten a decent shot anyway! Not only that, I just wanted to enjoy that moment of brilliant guitar playing. It was awesome to look back after he ended the song and see the entire audience on their feet. It was a well-deserved ovation!

The crowd was a bit stiff at first (which isn't unusual for Vegas), and when Lindsey made his comment before singing Red Rover about how the Gods might want to pull the plug and got no response, he said, "well, that didn't get a laugh". Polite laughter came after that. Finally, the audience loosened up a bit and people were having fun and making comments ("My girlfriend wants you!") to which he sort of laughed and pointed to someone in front of him and said "I choose her". Then, when someone asked him to take his shirt off, seems he responded again to the front and said, "Do you want me to take off my shirt?". I assumed it was his wife he was talking to, but I have no idea. No matter. Lindsey really seemed to be having a good time and when band intros came, and it was Lindsey's turn to be "introduced", Brett started doing his spiel. While Brett was talking away, Lindsey quietly hid behind some equiptment on stage and then you hear Brett introduce "LINDSEY BUCKINGHAM" and look around saying "where did he go?". Lindsey quietly got up from behind the equipment and we all applauded. The fun thing about being so close to the action is even when Lindsey isn't speaking into the mic, you can hear what he's saying. Brett, noticing Lindsey seemed uncomfortable being recognized made a comment about how Lindsey doesn't like being introduced. Then, and without saying it into the mic, Lindsey looks Brett's way and says, "yeah, I hate that *****!". A couple seconds later into the mic, Lindsey said, "I hate that stuff".

Other highlights:

Maybe this has been mentioned, but they were selling the Under The Skin cds autographed by Lindsey for $25.00 and unsigned was $20.00. Whatta deal!!

My friend and I decided to hang out outside to see if we could catch Lindsey. There was a security van parked very close to a door and I wondered if maybe that's where Lindsey might come out. After checking out the tour bus and seeing equipment being loaded into it, we went back to the security van. A couple of minutes later Brett and LINDSEY (and possibly Lindsey's assistant? He was carring some shirts) came out. We were about 20 or so feet away from Lindsey and didn't get any closer, but we got to tell Lindsey how much we enjoyed the show and he thanked us. I told him to be sure and come back, to which he said, "we will" and he was off and running. I didn't want to ask for a photo or autograph (Okay, well, YES I did!), so we were just happy to get to say "hey" to him.

After that, I went back into the casino and got one of the promo posters for the show used in the casinos after the show was over. I had been thinking about taking one and I walked around the casino after we'd said hi to Lindsey and found a couple had already been taken. A-ha! I found one and my friend and I nabbed it and got out of there as quickly as we could. What fun lugging Lindsey around all over the Las Vegas strip back to our hotel. But now he's home safe and sound.

Sorry to go on and on, but it was just a lot of fun jaunting to Vegas to see Lindsey, getting a fantastic show, getting to tell him so and then getting an awesome souvenir. For everyone else going to the shows, ENJOY!!

Finally, the audience loosened up a bit and people were having fun and making comments ("My girlfriend wants you!") to which he sort of laughed and pointed to someone in front of him and said "I choose her".

Actually, it was a dude that yelled out "I wanna be with you everywhere, Lindsey!" and he gave his patented "WTH?" look and the lady 2 seats over from me goes "Me too!" and he goes "Ummm...I choose her."

I was the girl in the turquoise shirt in the front row...probably 3 seats from you!! I had a sign that said Lindsey Rules.

Hee! The band was really punch-drunk silly in Vegas, especially last night with Lindsey laying down behind the speaker while Brett intro'ed him.

He crazy.
