We all know how difficult it is to find a solid album, that does not have a stinker among them. I thought it might be cool to make a thread where people listed some albums that they believe have not one bad track, and it might be a cool way to recommend albums to people :)

The one that comes to mind immediately for me is "Taking the Long Way" by the Dixie Chicks. There is not one song on there I don't like. I don't know any other Dixie Chick fan that doesn't love every single song on that album. Can't say that for Fleetwood Mac :sorry: I'm seriously thinking, they're going to take home the Grammy.

cause most late-30-year-olds mellow in taste of music, whereas my taste has become nuthin' but metal (Be it Black metal/Death Metal/Viking Metal). I was always metal, even when I first started listening to FM I still maintained my collection of metal music.
I also refuse to acknowledge rap/hip-hop (Not into beats or rhyming - It works for others so that's cool, just doesnt offer me the same)...No rap/hiphop to be found in my music collection, though I have plenty of discs by musicians of color such as Hendrix, Prince, Living Colour, Phil Lynott, Eric Gales Band, etc. (Not to mention artists such as the Spinners, the Four Tops, Peaches & Herbs, Tina Turner, WAR, etc.)

well, we're opposites in that regard because i have much more love for rap/hip hop than i do for metal. i'm willing to give individual metal artists/bands a shot, but i really just don't enjoy the overall "metal" sound. i would say it's because i'm too girly, but then why the hell do i like rap? it's certainly not because i find tupac hot.

musicianship moreso than lyrical content, so alot of the time I enjoy metal just for the musicianship aspect (And yes, Sometimes I could care less what a song is about as long as the music is interesting).
As much as I have tried to be open minded for some music, I just cannot get into vocally dominated music like most Ledgies (Nothing wrong with liking vocally dominated music - Whatever floats anyones boat is fine by me). Hell, I even like techno & trance music
It's funny, I grew up with a majority of my school friends being of color and I don't recall rap being the music they enjoyed (Could've been because it was in its infancy back then)- They enjoyed R&B, Dance and Soul music, which I do like.

OMG! Alice is just...annoying! I love the first 10 seconds of it but the vocals and tune that Stevie is singing in doesn't fit the music AT ALL! I can't STAND If I Were You - it's on a par with The Nightmare for the worst song on RAL. Kick It is just....naff. I love half of Street Angel but the rest of it is just...naff. Yeh. Naff just about sums it up. Who else thinks that's "God's Garden" should've been the last song on SA instead of Jane

Well, "Sentimental Hygiene" has "Reconsider Me" on it, which as you know, Stevie also recoded - the album has much the same feel as that. Its quite a commercial effort, but even though it was released in the 80s, its very timeless - probably due to the lack synth.
Or if you want rockin, you could go with "Excitable Boy", which has his biggest hit "Werewolfs of London" on it, and apart from a few mediorce tracks, its quite good :)
You can't really go wrong with either of those albums, or "The Wind" as mentioned above for that matter...

Oh and, to Amber (not that you can read this what with me likely still on ignore and all), if you're interested in checking out some Zevon, there are several Best of packages that you could start with:
Genius: The Best of Warren Zevon
A Quiet Normal Life: The Best of Warren Zevon
I'll Sleep When I'm Dead: An Anthology (2 discs)
A Quiet Normal Life was released in '86, so it contains only older material, while the other two are more recent (Genius was released in 2002 and I'll When I'm Dead in 1996) so they span a greater portion of his career.

That is very good info, you have actually explained the albums in a way that helps me make choices.
The only thing is, I get "synth, or lack thereof" and know what that will sound like - but what about the first album (sentimental etc.) that doesn't utilize syth? Is it just super slow and boring and almost country? You know, you can have very exciting and fast music without having synth.
I dunno, you all have been very helpful, I shouldn't try to be so exact. I'll just listen myself. And decide if it is fast enough, or has enough drums, or beautiful harmonies or melodies, for myself. I'll probably hit the "werewolf of London" album first.
