View Full Version : Our president is a madman

Many of us have known this for years, but tonight it is confirmed. He is pushing a new policy in Iraq that is totally insane. It will kill more U.S. soldiers and spend more tax dollars for a war that was wrong in the first place and is not based on an imminent threat to the country.
I have always hated this man but tonight I feel horrified and frightened that he is our "leader". We have Brownback on the right, Hillary in the middle, and Pelosi on the left telling him no way. What more needs to be done to stop this man?

And what is HORRIFYING is, accoding to the pundits, the "20,000 troops" in Iraq actually in reality is 5,000 more boots on the ground at one time because that number has to be divided by four when deployment and decommission is considered. Put it this way, New York City has 45,000 cops on the street right now. 5,000 more in that one city might make a difference. But, in all of Iraq or even four problem areas, it is nothing.
Sadly, but unsurprisingly, Fox News is saying essentially, what the hell, let's give W one more chance
I am all for winning the peace, but it is time for the Iraqi's to take over their country. So, I support withdrawal of at least half if not all of out troops over a six month to a year time period.

This is exactly the point. If Bush were serious about "winning", he would put in way more than 20K troops. Instead, he came up with an amount that won't result in any change, but will result in more deaths to U.S. soldiers. This is beyond appalling...it is criminal. I'm sitting here knowing that our president is a total madman and feeling helpless.

hit the mute button and then provide my own voicetrack for the Shurb-tator, of **** he would really like to say, example:
"Instead of sending more troops over to Iraq I suggest to Congress we send the citizens of New Orleans who are still homeless from Hurricane Katrina, that way they can earn their keep..."

Careful, you could get a visit from the FBI.
He is a madman. He's insane and would probably argue 2+2 = 5 and say that it was fact because he's the decider. I can't watch him either. And I don't even know the details about his "plan" because I'm so sick of politics. Yeah, that's right, you heard it here first. I really hope he is thrwarted somehow. We do have to put pressure on him, nobody wants this. I did sign that petition! I'm on TK's email list of course, being a Mass liberal and all.

It could be worse. He could have orchestrated the sale of nerve gas to militant terrorists, only to have it explode in Los Angeles- and assassinated the former president who was hot on the trail of stumbling over his conspiracy!
Oh wait, that's TV.
Bush can go to hell.

You guys should read Matt Taibbi's latest column about the "surge" and how our forces are really used in Iraq. My friend currently in Iraq has said similar things to me, but has been wary to go into detail, given that he is communicating thru the military Net and all... I heard the same thing strand said - that 21,500 surge = 5,000 on the ground - somewhere last night. The whole thing is just astounding to me.
http://alternet.org/columnists/story/46535/
Excerpt:
The whole idea that "more troops" are needed in Iraq is absurd on its face. They sell this idea in America as though our soldiers are being sent to patrol the streets like New York City cops policing Malcolm X Boulevard on foot -- spreading goodwill, talking to shopkeepers, collaring the occasional fare-jumper, and scaring off the odd stick-up kid by their very presence.
That's not at all the way it works in Iraq. For one thing, the majority of the troops in a place like Baghdad never leave the massive, seemingly Manhattan-sized walled-in Forward Operating Bases (FOBs). Battle-hardened soldiers derisively describe army personnel who live in the FOBs as "Fobbits" and it is roundly accepted in Iraq that Fobbits make up a clear majority of our deployed military men. For soldiers who actually have to go out and risk getting blown up in patrols, Fobbits are a vile contagion, like malarial mosquitoes -- amazingly numerous and deeply annoying. One soldier laughed when I asked if he thought we needed more guys in Iraq. "Not more troops, but fewer Fobbit-mother****ers," he growled.

This is a quote from Bush from June 28, 2005:
"Sending more Americans would undermine our strategy of encouraging Iraqis to take the lead in this fight. And sending more Americans would suggest that we intend to stay forever"

I know. After the second election I screamed at this guy at a bar (he was even cute). Because he said he was only voting for Bush because he knew he'd keep his taxes low and he didn't give a sh*t about anything else. I told him his money would be worthless as he continues to drive the value of the dollar down. I also assumed he was from a privileged background, which I asked him, and he was. To each their own but I just flipped because I know how disastrous this man had been. :distress: He told me it was great I was so passionate and quickly escaped. I also had to shove my roommate aside when she got in my face saying we needed a foothold in Iraq. I bet she feels pretty stupid now. Jesus.

The guy is so like George, from a priviliged upbringing, "I have mine so f*ck you!" That's what you should have told him Suze. "You're just like him." I wonder how they'd react to that.

I really don't think he would've given a sh*t. Although now, in hindsight seeing just how bad the president is, he might. It still baffles me how some people just don't think about things other than themselves.
