I think the only logical choices are the songs she performed on the Today Show. I don't know how long her timeslot is, but I'm sure she'll fill the time with those songs.
but I'm still hoping for some kind of kick ass outfit. and please, no Frankenboks.

"Stevie will be performing February 4th at the Superbowl XLI Pre-Game show on CBS."
Uuum...not to be the Negative Nancy here, but I took this to mean that the Pre-Game show will be aired on CBS, not necessarily Stevie's entire performance. I certainly hope we get to see it all, but I wouldn't be surprised if we only get a 30-second snippet while they cut to a commercial.
Then there's this:

John Fogerty and Kelly Clarkson?? Guess there's more than one tailgate party...

I don't know how many songs she will do but I think Stand Back will for sure be played. I don't think she should do Landslide or Dreams because they're slow songs. She needs to get everybody ready to party for the Super Bowl. Edge of 17 would be cool but I bet she won't do it.

Yeah I agree. I'm sure we'll probably see one song in its entirety, and the rest will probably be just for the crowd or heard in the background while J.B., Dan, Shannon and whoever to discusses the game. If you remember, Fleetwood Mac (minus Stevie) played at the Super Bowl pre-game show in 98 after the dance tour. I didn't even look for it because Stevie wasn't going to be there. I also remember seeing Sheryl Crow perform at one of the pre-game shows a few years ago and they let her sing three songs on camera. So I guess it depends on what the network decides.
And I predict she'll sing Stand Back, Dreams and Rock n' Roll.

If memory serves, I believe Fleetwood Mac was barely featured on the pre-game telecast back in '93. I only recall them playing "Say You Love Me," and even that was cut short by a commercial break. Ah... I do miss me some Christine! :distress:
I find it rather bizarre that Stevie would be asked to perform for a major football event; if anything her image is the total antithesis of football! She's not a country artist, she's not a "hot babe" dance pop performer, she's not an A-list R&B/hip hop artist, she's not a hard rocker, etc. Her core audience is not made up of beer-swilling frat boys or even beer-swilling desperate househusbands. I think the only sporting events that would be even remotely compatible with the Stevie demographic would be men's swimming, men's diving, women's tennis, women's golf, WNBA, men's amateur wrestling, ballroom dancing and synchronized swimming.
I do agree that she will perform three songs: "Stand Back," "Dreams," and "Rock n Roll." I think SB and/or RnR will be televised.

Having attended a couple Superbowls and the pre-game festivities - I have to say not to expect too much.
There are many parties going on before the game - many sponsors - it's a very corporate environment - not fan-based.
It seems like they choose what to broadcast almost randomly, depending on
what is going on at that moment.......
I'll be thrilled if we get to see a couple songs!

This is FABULOUS news !
I'll tell you what, I will go into this with low expectations of seeing a whole Stevie song, and if I get it, I will be totally happy. I have to be realistic about this too. As mentioned on an earlier post, lots of corporate sponsors and many different pre-game parties.
I am so excited though because anytime our Stevie can get some national exposure (pardon the Janet Jackson pun), on her music, the better.
I hope Stevie kicks ass on SB and Edge.

all artists who perform pre-game before the Super Bowl play 3-4 songs, depending on song length. Usually the networks will show 1-2 of the songs played (Most usually the most popular tracks associated with older acts - So I say "Landslide" & "Stand Back" will be broadcast).
Thankfully I have recorded each Super Bowl since the early 90's, and I usually record/edit the pre-game musical acts - So I will have Stevie one way-or-another.

Something to think about y'all, Prince is the half-time entertainment for the Super Bowl, What are the chances he could have his ol' friend Stevie come on stage to play "Stand Back"?
If that would happen (Ya never know, right?) it would be million times more interesting than watching Britney Speared & N-Suck (Or whoever the hell that boyband garbage was) that forever destroyed Aerosmith's performance of "Walk this Way" (Worst musical moment EVER!!!!! Aerosmith playing along in that tragedy, neutered 'em for life.)

I think so. Younger more music-oriented majority female audience for BB Awards, older more sports/beer/commercials-oriented majority male audience for the SB. Stevie Nicks booked for Super Bowl pre-game show
Stevie Nicks has been added to the roster of performers at the upcoming Super Bowl. Nicks will take part in the pre-game entertainment, along with a performance by Cirque Du Soleil and DJ Louie Vega. The only other entertainers announced so far are Billy Joel, who will sing the national anthem, and Prince, who will do the halftime show. Super Bowl XLI (41) takes place February 4th at Dolphin Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.
Nicks is the latest rocker to do the pre-game show, following in the footsteps of Santana, Aerosmith, the Charlie Daniels Band, Paul McCartney, Styx, Sting, Kiss, and the Georgia Satellites. The half-time show has seen performances by Aerosmith, U2, ZZ Top, Phil Collins, Sting, Paul McCartney, and the Rolling Stones.

Does anyone know if this is going to be aired on tv in Australia ?? I hope so !! I have just checked the foxtel guide - and on ESPN at 7:30 they are showing NFL Super Bowl, Dolphins Stadium Miami, USA... WIll they show the pre-game show though?
If not - can anyone record it and maybe post it on youtube ?? :blob2:
