View Full Version : Asking For More Prayers & Good Thoughts

I posted on Friday that my father had to take my mother to the E.R., and that they gave her something for her headache and nausea, and ran some tests because she was also having chest pains.
She had a decent day yesterday (compared to Friday), but was in extremely bad shape again this morning. She didn't even think she could make it to the E.R. by car this time, so we had to call an ambulance.

So anyway, now I'm just sitting here. Waiting. Not sure what they're going to do, or what's going to come from all this.
But I'd really, really appreciate it if everyone could please keep my mother in your thoughts and prayers.

Thanks.

Thank you, everyone, for all of the sweet comments and good wishes. Please keep them coming.

They've kept Mom at the hospital for observation. They really have no idea what's wrong. All this time we've been thinking that it's the meds, but one of the nurses suggested that it may actually be a bacterial infection.
I guess we'll find out.

Brian  I hope they find an answer for you soon. My mom had an extreme headache and was nauseated last weekend...when I went to her house...I found that she had the heater blasting without any air coming in (crack in the window) so she was there basically baking without oxygen. It is a good idea during the winter months to ensure there is some air getting in the house.

Thank you so much, everyone.... I really appreciate the well-wishes.
Mom does, too. I've been telling her that all the Ledgies are sending her good vibes and prayers, and she's really touched. So thank you all. :xoxo:

She had a really rough morning again today, vomiting and everything -- but she was feeling a little better this afternoon. They're doing a CAT scan today and an Upper G.I. tomorrow. Hopefully we'll have some answers soon (and PRAYING that it's nothing serious).

Thank you all again (I can't say that enough).

A little update... after reviewing Mom's CAT scan, they've determined that she's developed Gastritis.
I guess they're going to wait to view the results of her Upper G.I. before deciding how to treat it.

I'm glad we finally have an answer as to her stomach problems. Hopefully they'll also get things straightened out with her meds, too... which probably caused the Gastritis in the first place.

Oh phew. I know that's really uncomfortable but I am glad it was nothing more serious. I hope they can get it under control.

Another update... while the doctors first assumed Mom had gastritis (based on her CAT scan), they've now diagnosed her with gastroparesis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gastroparesis), based on the results of the other tests they ran throughout the week.

Basically what it means is that her stomach isn't properly disgesting and emptying its contents, which is what caused the nausea, cramps, heartburn, lack of appetite, etc.

They're going to treat her with two kinds of medications (one for the gastroparesis and one to help alleviate its symptoms).

All this time we thought she was "just" suffering from anxiety-related problems, when, in fact, the gastroparesis was causing the anxiety meds the doctors kept giving her to improperly break-down in her stomach -- making matters worse.

It's going to take time, but hopefully now that we have a diagnosis, she'll be well and truly on the road to recovery.

Thank you all, again, for the prayers and good thoughts. :xoxo:

Mr.Librarian, Having been through the bad-side of the medical in regards to my Mom (Which ya Ledgies know about, and I keep reliving every day I awaken), I dont want to see anyone EVER have to sit & wait/wonder the way I had to.

I dont want to see anyone EVER have to sit & wiat/wonder the way I had to.Not to sound like a cliché, but the waiting truly IS the hardest part.
You're on edge 24 hours of every day -- wondering, worrying, waiting. You can't move forward with your life, because everything comes to a complete standstill. It's a horrible feeling.
