Anyone get any good gifts yesterday for Christmas?
First, my best gift this year was that we got to have one last Christmas with my husband's grandma. She has stage 4 lung cancer, and it's spread to her liver & brain. She's done well for over a year now, but I fear the end is near. Her husband died last year, and she's 77 years old so it's not really a shock. But it still hurts. All my grandparents were gone by the time I was 10, so she really has become my grandmother over the past 12 years. The tradition of going to her house every Christmas night with the rest of the family is one of my favorite things to do, and I will miss it. But we were able to make it a wonderful night, for her and for all the kids, so I'm happy. Hard to think that it was probably the last time....
On a lighter note, we got a call from my niece in Bulgaria & were able to chat with her for a while. We rarely call (it's still pretty pricey, we usually letters or email) so this was a nice surprise. Talked to my bro in AZ too.
Material gifts? My mp3 player rocks in theory, but there's something wrong with it. :( I've emailed customer support, so hopefully they can tell me what to do. I got the cashmere lined leather gloves I asked for, as well as a Boxer desk calendar. A few gift cards, 1 hideous sweater & 1 nice one, and seasons 1 & 2 of The Facts of Life on DVD. That was kind of a gag gift, but I'll probably watch it anyway.
Funniest gifts people I know received:
My husband opened a wooden bottle opener shaped like a penis. The tag said "From Mom." It was actually my sisterinlaw's doing.
Same sisterinlaw bought other sisterinlaw a Whitesnake DVD, a bag of mozzerella sticks and stuffed chicken breasts. So random, and so hilarious.
I bought her Billy Idol Happy Holidays. I thought it was a joke, but it's legit. It's not that bad either. :D

funniest gift i got was frankincense & myrrh. getting back go basics, baby. if it's good enough for jebus ...
also got the l word: season 2; the x files: season 6; and jacques cousteau's odyssey on dvd.
the 'rents got me a leather jacket, cashmere lined leather gloves, and some books & mags. still have to do some gift exchanging with friends this week. i was really spoiled this year!

Just music is all, I'm the easiest person to buy a gift for:
"Chaotica-The Essence of the Underworld w/Bonus disc 'Live in Toulouse EP"-Behemoth (Polish import 3 disc set)
"Demonica"-Behemoth (Limited edition box set-Made in a similar manner to Stevie's "Enchanted" boxed set)
"End of an Era"-Nightwish (Double disc import)
"Wintersun-Special Touring Edition"-Wintersun (Cd/DVD import)
Dontcha just love how I received "Black/Death Metal" (Minus Nightwish which is 'Symphonic Power Metal') discs for Christmas?? Weird, since my Mom died (As I still term it 'medically murdered') I have moved from classic rock/country/metal to extreme/death/black metal  <img src="http://www.angelfire.com/music3/rhiannon/Headbang-Smilie.gif">
I know my older sister Lesa ordered me the newest Whitesnake double live album "Live-In the Shadow of the Blues" (German Import), which will arrive in a couple of weeks.
Don't know what my older brother Geary bought me, but I know he bought Deb a $60 gift certificate to Hastings (Lesa also bought her a gift card for Barnes & Noble) and an OSU (Okla.St) purse which he found Saturday in Tulsa (As he visits his mother-in-law, the Heat-Miser!)
Debbie received over $100 worth of merchandise from Bath & Body Works from moi (Not to mention a gift card so she can purchase 'Honey Suckle' scented items in Janaury)...So she should be good to go for a few months.
Of course I still have the last gifts my Mom gave me for Christmas (2004) which have sentimental value now: A set of marbles (Since Mom said I lost mine  Everyone in my family was/and is a smartass), A Chicago Cubs baseball & a Wrigley Field orb and the ever popular 'gang banger' sweat suit set (Which I wore only once...Sorry, Brian and 'gang banger' clothes NEVER go good together, But Mom sure thought that **** was funny.)
The only thing I always wish for now is that Debbie stays cancer free (Been almost 2 years of being cancer free)

I got a lot of donations and pledges for my charity marathon thing, a Trader Joe's gift card, a Border's gift card (which I will use today to get the Dreamgirls soundtrack), a book I asked for, and a very pretty thing that I haven't figure out what it is. It's a vase or a bowl, I think.
Dats about it.
Edit: Oh, I forgot the best gift. I got an unexpected final check from an inheritance. Which I will use to get to Vegas in March.

My most prized gift this year was spending Christmas morning with BOTH of my girls. I cried my eyes out when Samantha's mom let her stay the night Christmas Eve so that Sam could watch Sara open her gifts from Santa, and be with us. I will never forget our first Christmas together. It was special for all of us.
From Santa (for Sara's benefit, I buy these things for myself) I got a 19 inch flat screen monitor, 800 thread count sheets, Sex in the City season 6 part 2, and a flat iron for my hair.
From Sara I received a beautiful necklace from the schools Santa shop, and a Mickey Mouse waffle iron.
Samantha and her family gave us our puppy! (who is happily sitting in my lap, there's no place else he'd rather be)
And from mom, dad and grandma I received Victoria's Secret gift cards, TGIFriday's gift cards, Best Buy gift cards, a cashmere sweater, a bench to sit on and store shoes in for my laundry room... and that's about it.
This was the best Christmas I've had in 4 years....

losing my Mom in 2005, the disaster known as Christmas 1977 and nearly losing Debbie at this time of the year in 2003 (Kinda funny in a way, But my Mom thought she food poisoned Deb during Christmas dinner in 2003, instead it was a major/deadly septis infection that was coursing through her blood stream) makes me not the most joyful person during the holidays...But with the upcoming legal issues over my Mom's death, I may finally have peace

I got some nice things-
Suede coat from Jeff
Clothes, skin/bath/body stuff, candles, books [Stephen King's latest], two pair of shoes, and that fabulous chair and ottoman from my mother-in-law.
Seriously, the most important thing is that Jeff and I are still together, healthy, and doing well. It has been such a rough couple of years!

I got $100 (so far), and my parents paid the $70 ticket for me to visit. Otherwise just a sweatshirt that says "Pollock Pines" which is the town here, and some footless tights w/patterns. Which, i actually love footless tights. Also a super yummy Christmas dinner.
I've also learned infinite patience from trying to do stuff on this goddamned computer which is dial up.
Also gotten to watch endless court tv/other true life mystery forensic shows, cause they have cable. Yep, it's been a murderous, murderous Christmas!
Sparky, my dad got me a cordless drill for my birthday a few years back, and I fricking love that thing. So handy.
Oh, my dad got a bow from his dad a couple weeks back, (grandpa decided that since he is 80 now, he wouldn't be hunting with it as much) which I got to mess with a little bit.
Also, my parents got a new dog, who is so sweet, so now i get to walk two dogs. :woohoo:

My friend gave a me photo bracelet but I am going have to print the photos out and give the bracelet to my friend to put together. I can't stand putting things together. She gave another one of our friends a Freddie Mercury doll. That was fun.

I got the Creative Zen V with 1GB. I think it may be my computer, maybe the software didn't install correctly (even though it said it was successful.) I'm having 2 problems: I charged the mp3 (with a power adapter), but now it won't turn on; and any time I plug it into any of my computer's USB ports, my mouse stops working, preventing me from clicking OK. I got a long ass email back from tech support today, so between Mark & I, hopefully we can figure it out tonight.

The weather has been so terrible here that I don't know that I will be able to see anything until 2007...
I was so surprised! It wasn't something that I asked for---- just , I don't know , like a secret wish that I always had...and when I opened it...I was like those kids on that TV ad, YES!!!!, YES!!!, jumping up and down
like a child (i am in my 40's -what a moron)-
You can say I was pretty excited:] )
Just wanted to share...Can't wait to look at all the stars and moon's different locations-It came with really descriptive maps too- Yes Yes!

Sparky, my dad got me a cordless drill for my birthday a few years back, and I fricking love that thing. So handy.
It is pretty cool. I have another one which was really losing its religion. The old one was for work - and was a 9.6 volt Makita. This is only a 7.2 Ryobi so it won't really drive into a 2x4 but it's good for things around the house. I still have the crapppy old one for tougher outdoor stuff. Oh, and it came with sockets, which is totally cool.

Hmm...that's odd - but I have heard some complaints about their software...the turning on thing is alarming though...hope you get it resolved...
I finally had a problem with mine, it froze on me - but it was an easy fix (after a non-easy period of completely freaking out) and I've not had any problems since.
If the tech support thing is not helpful or doesn't work - you may try googling your problem - that's what I did and I got an answer :D
Good luck!! Let me know if it starts working for ya....Creatives are generally great products

Yeah...I was close to breakdown mode when mine got quirky....but if worse comes to worst you can always trade it for another one....though that sucks.
If ya can't get it to turn on that's very bizarre...have you tried the reset button? I'm not sure if your model has one...but you have to press play/pause and reset at the same time - that took care of my problem....
I would be more help if I were familiar with the model - but of course you'd do well to take any advice from the Creative Tech people than from me

Wow, that sounds great! I'm so happy for you. :xoxo:

Uuuh. I took some days off during finals week to go to Cleveland to see the Pretenders on my birthday with Kate. Kate was awesome. Pretenders were awesome. The usual.
After the show, Kate's all "o hay wanna meet Krissy idk" and I willingly oblige, only by this point it was pretty cold (it was relatively nice earlier in the day), and we're waiting for probably 15-20 minutes for the band to come out and get in their buses. I think Chrissie was first? Anyway, she's totally nice (and tiny!) and talked to everyone and signed tickets or records or whatever. Then Martin came out and did the same, posed for pictures, etc. And the rest of the band, Adam & Nick, talked with everyone briefly before deciding it's hella cold and they all get on the bus. My sister was lame and stayed in the car.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/daretheghost/scan2.jpg
o hay thar super old picture
Kate could probably be more detailed, because concerts are always a blur to me. But nonetheless, if the Pretenders ever roll through everyone needs to see them and if anyone else is as crazy as Kate & I, they should wait by the buses after the show. That is all.

I got lots of nice gifts, but really, I think the very best was having my Grandfather around for one more Christmas. He has stage four cancer, and we don't know if he'll be around much longer, so spending time with him was wonderful. He's a fighter, though, so, you know, never say never.
Hm.. what else did I get..
- two Elvira DVDs from the fabulous Hayley
- a great Elvira clipping/interview from Justin/takenbythesky
- miniature padlocks from my friend Casey (we both have matching Sid Vicious necklaces)
- a fat cat wall-hanging from my aunt & uncle
- cash from my grandparents & aunts & uncles, and a BestBuy giftcard from one of my uncles
My mom bought me tickets to see the Pretenders in Cleveland earlier this month, so obviously, that was awesome. And Greg was there, too. Yay, Greg! I got the same picture he posted signed as well. Yay, Chrissie! And, I got one of Adam Seymour's picks, which completes my Pretenders pick collection. Yay, Adam! My older brother bought me a Vietnam created wooden Dragon, That is badass. I moved it onto my stereo so it can watch over my dragon collection in all its glory.
The craftsman work on the dragon is awe-inspiring....Great detail.
Deb received a $60 gift certificate from Hastings and a large leather black & orange "OSU" (Okla.St) purse.
