Don't know if many of you have seen this documentary, or are familiar with these astonishing birds.

Info can be found here:

Anyway, these birds always come to a little park in the Embarcadero area of San Francisco at sunset to go to sleep. My grocery store is near the park, so I often get to watch them fly together and play.

Today, there were some people in the park that must have been working for a long time with the birds or something because the birds kept landing on their heads, shoulders, arms in huge groups, playing with them.

It was really one of the most remarkable things I've seen in ages. All I could think is "this is what grace is". It's rare that I think such things, but I couldn't help being struck with that statement.

Check out the movie sometime if you haven't yet.

That is amazing, I didn't know about that! That's a perfect description, "grace". You are very lucky to live by them. Aren't they cute?

Click the link in my first post and read the FAQs. You'll get some info, although not a great deal.

I really need to see this movie. It's been mentioned on here several times, and several friends have told me about it as well.

The website has a ton of speculation about where the flock may have originated. But, in truth, it only takes 2 birds who escape from captivity to start a new flock. It can even happen with just 1 bird, if he/she has genetic "family" in the area - either wild ones or other escapees.

There is even a small flock of blue and green lovebirds (I've seen 7 total so far) flying around my town. They fly into my backyard once a month or so to eat at my birdfeeder, or just to pester and taunt Zorro. I can't decide which.

Your experience sounds so cool!
I don't know if they are the same group of parrots, but I used to walk past them in the palm trees at the end of Dolores st., right where it meets Market. The first time I heard them, and looked up to see more parrots than I could count, I thought I was hallucinating.
I haven't seen the movie, or read the book, but I would like to.
