yay, sun! Happy Solstice to Everyone! It is time to stuff and feed all people you know, and to be stuffed and fed in turn, so that no one starves in this very dark time of winter.
The moon has also been in Capricorn since yesterday, which has helped me to accomplish much boring money related paperwork and also some cleaning chores.
Scoff, but I swear it works. I'm also more productive, boring activity wise (paperwork, organizing, cleaning) when the moon is in Virgo. And Taurus to a lesser degree.
done, swear. :p

really? is that related to your health issues, or are you just a vampire?

But I've never been a sun worshiper (I cannot stay cool, but I can easily stay warm). I seem to be depressed more when it is sunny, clear & warm, but when it is cold, grey & dreary outside I am happy & bouncing off the walls
So much for seasonal depression

saw 45 days of over 100 temps, but that's not even a record for this state (50-something days for the "Dust Bowl" of 1936)
I remember seeing on the Weather Channel that the area I live in (SW Oklahoma) is only second to Death Valley in high temp. daily averages (Phoenix, Arizona has a dry heat, WE have humidity packed onto the 100's for the first part of summer, then the dry arid air takes over.)

Thanks! You too!
I lit my candles a little while ago. It was rainy all day, so I couldn't see exactly when sunset occurred. But I still use that awesome wUnderground site you showed me way back when, so I was able to look up when sunset *should* occur.
And today's the new moon too... I need to look that up again to see what it means.

i never even thought oklahoma as a "hot" state until i saw what you had to say about it early in the summer, and then i experienced the heat & humidity for myself as i was walking around downtown OKC this summer. it was easily into the upper 90's that day, and very humid. i can't imagine living in heat like that. i can handle the dry heat - when i was in scottsdale, it was 117 but dry as a bone and i was fine. i hate humidity, though.

I'm pretty much the same way. The summer usually depresses the hell out of me. I've actually built up quite a tolerance for the heat but I still hate it. I lived in England with my grandmother for awhile after I graduated, and the weather was much better for my state of mind.
I need to get out of Vegas NOW. Stevie's frequent appearances are the only plus in this desert hell hole.

I like both weathers for different reasons. I think if you swam and played at the river more, and ate snacks, and swam, and listened to music while you swam, and spent all day swimming, you might like hot weather more. Everyone knows that hot weather sucks ass unless you are doing something fun in it. Something fun and cool, like swimming and eating cold watermelon, and having margaritas, but if you don't drink, just having icy lemonade in between swims.
You know, my winter fun reasons are related to exercise, too. I just think if you are excercising in accordance with the weather (cool exercise in summer, bundled up exercise in winter) you will just be happy, because exercise makes you happy.
The other important component to seasonal happiness is scenery. I can imagine Oklahoma isn't totally beautiful and scenic in July. But if you went to a lake, or a river, or some mountains, or a backyard swimming pool with some grass by it ( ) that would automatically make it better. hehehe.
I love walking in the rain. I love walking in the snow. I love walking in the crisp, brightly sunny fall. I love the mystery of walking in wintery fog. I hate the lameness of walking in summery fog (thank you, bay area, for your special crappy freezing/foggy summers  Seriously, though, I hate you).
I am usually warmer than other people, so winter isn't bad for me. Except when it rains a lot - I have to ride my bike or walk most places, and so that is very inconvenient. But if I could just walk in the rain, I would unequivocally love it. I still like it okay otherwise, it's just water, but it is kind of inconvenient to ride your bike or walk in the rain if you have to.
So, I like all seasons for different scenery type and temperaturemental reasons. (I just made up a kick ass word).
My least favorite is spring, in large part because of the wind and the weather that fools you. I hate wind, it makes me crabby and makes my hair look crappy. Those two things are unrelated, but both true. Spring is like a tease. Is it warm? Is it freezing cold and raining the week after it has just been 75 degrees?! YES! Stupid spring.
But at the same time, I do enjoy spring for all the normal reasons. If it wasn't so damn windy, I'd forgive it's temperature tease.
The worst think about the winter is when the whole day is gone, because you get up between 11 and 1. If you are me.
I find the main universal think to be: When it's the end of winter, I get pissed at winter and want it to leave. When it is the end of summer, I get tired of the fricking heat (when I lived in a hot place) and want it to leave.

YAY!! for longer days!!
I hate having to have my day planned and wrapped up so early. If I have time to walk my dog it's in the early afternoon because it's dark out even before "Oprah" is over!
I also feel like I should be in bed and asleep by 7:00.... and that's just crazy. I mean, 8:00 MAYBE.... but 7:00??

my oak yule log is burning in the fireplace, with a coal from last years fire, and I am looking forward to hanging out in front of it, after my son falls asleep.
Happy Solstice!

Well, I love summer for all you can do like swimming and such. But I hate sweating all the time and my frizzball hair. I'm so happy when fall comes and I stop sweating and I have good hair days. :D
