Oops - the quote is "Go ahead, be gone with it" -- I LOVE THAT HAWT MOTHFUKCING SONG!
I’m bringing sexy back
Them other boys don’t know how to act
I think your special whats behind your back
So turn around and ill pick up the slack.
Take em’ to the bridge
[Bridge]
Dirty babe
You see these shackles
Baby I’m your slave
I’ll let you whip me if I misbehave
It’s just that no one makes me feel this way
Take em’ to the chorus
[Chorus]
Come here girl
Go ahead, be gone with it
Come to the back
Go ahead, be gone with it
VIP
Go ahead, be gone with it
Drinks on me
Go ahead, be gone with it
Let me see what you’re working with
Go ahead, be gone with it
Look at those hips
Go ahead, be gone with it
You make me smile
Go ahead, be gone with it
Go ahead child
Go ahead, be gone with it
And get your sexy on
Go ahead, be gone with it
Get your sexy on
Go ahead, be gone with it
Get your sexy on
I’m bringing sexy back
Them other fukcers don’t know how to act
Come let me make up for the things you lack
Cause your burning up I gotta get it fast
Take em’ to the bridge
I’m bringing sexy back
Them other fukcers wait till I attack
If that’s your girl you better watch your back
Cause she’ll burn it up for me and that’s a fact
Take em’ to the chorus

Paula, my dear, if I didnt know better, I'd swear you were trying to BAIT me.
Mary, my darling, if I didn't know better, I'd swear you were trying to avoid answering my question. You need to stop backpedaling & own up to what you said.
We asked you why you said you that you hate Muslims in the below post. You answered that we should have read what was in parenthesis, because it specified terrorists. I asked why you didn't word it differently. You never answered me, nor did you edit your original post. The post below is bigoted toward anyone of the Muslim faith, whether you want to admit it or not:
When Chris asked me if I supported locking up Muslims in camps, I responded by saying that the issue of my feelings for the Muslims (specifically the terrorists by the way) is the one area where I deviate from my normal Liberal leanings. I categorically hate them.
If you had written "I hate terrorists" or even "I hate Muslim terrorists" this wouldn't be an issue. But you didn't. You added a cop-out little blurb of (oh, by the way, I mean the terrorists) to try & cover your ass, but I'm not buying it. So it will continue to be an issue, and I for one will never see you in the same light again. We have not always agreed on things, but finding out that this is the way you think is shocking and sad to me. :distress:
Oh. And for the record, I hate terrorists. I hate what they've done to our world. I hate what they've done to our country. I hate that they have the ability to do more harm to more people. Hate hate hate. I hate them.

So, anyway, I guess (since you announce you hate terrorists too) I can safely call YOU a bigot too! In your case, however, I wont need to feign surprise. or disappointment. Because I believe if one were to scratch the surface just a bit, I think you'd find you never thought much of me anyway. I cant tell you how crushed I am. Simply CRUSHED.

I think it is amazing that several people have called you out on your equivocal answers and you think everyone else is seeing things. Maybe it's time to rethink this and see yourself as we are all seeing you.
I mean your initial response was directed at all Muslims as that was the question and then the whole hoping not to have to say you told us so seemingly was the response you wanted to give as you have not really backed away from that, esp. when asked. Yes, you have inserted terrorists in some later statements, but then made it very clear that you hate Muslims who support them, which you have not said is not all Muslims. That is where people are coming from.

I think to her it is all the same. She knows no Muslim (Arab or not) will ever accept Isreal and therefore, they (perhaps in general) support all support terrorists (or at least do not do enough to stop them), which she does not confine to merely the ones perpetrating the bad acts in Isreal or here (which they do here as a result of Israel) -- I think that is where she is coming from. actually thats not exactly right either. Iran is hosting the Holocaust conference and is not entirely Arab, there are Muslims there that are not of Arab descent, and yet they are also participating thus my use of the Arab/Muslim qualifier earlier on.

I think all Muslims are called upon to object to Israel - not just Arab Muslims.

No, I'm sorry, but you didn't. You never answered the two below:
Regarding you being a victim of race in high school:
Regarding your original statement:
And to clarify - I am basing my opinion that you are a bigot toward all Muslims on that original post in question. You say that you didn't mean it that way, but then you say you aren't ashamed of saying it.
It doesn't matter. You said what you said & you feel how you feel. You have made a certain impression on me based on your posts in this thread, that's all.
by the way, I saw you ask the question about what happened to me and why was it odd. I was going to answer you but truthfully, I wondered about your motive for asking. Im not sure why you ask those details of me, but not of, say, Amber who also came on to say she had been a victim of reverse discrimination. Frankly Paula, I dont trust you. If I thought you were sincerely curious and not in fact looking for something to bait me with, I probably wouldnt have had a problem answering you.
as for your question re: why didnt I say I hated terrorists or even Muslim terrorists, I DID anwser you, many times over. So, now I am back to being a bigot? because you choose to believe something other than what I said?? Especially after I took great pains to clarify? (and then you said 'well isnt that common knowledge? I agree with that' ) Sheesh. some people.

I am not villifying you. I just wanted you, the great liberal, to admit it :wavey:
And - just about all of the things happening in the Middle East are happening on a lesser scale in our cities and in the black neighborhoods. Black kids are taught to fear/hate/etc. whitie and the white kids are taught to hate the ni**ers - a generalization I know -- but it has truth in it  Thus, the constant perpetuation of the race wars, though they have gotten much better over the last 40 years. It is the same mindset of hate that drives both sets IMO.

What does Amber have to do with this? She and I have already had it out over racial issues a long time ago, and she has talked about her experiences a few times in the past. I didn't feel the need to ask her about it again, but if you'd like me to, I will. I wanted to know about your experiences - did they beat you, tease you, what? Just curious, if you're so sensitive about it, then why bring it up?
I told everyone my experience - I was called a white bitch. But here's more detail for you - it was because I pulled out of a parking space quicker than someone else & they got pissed off at me. Stupid, huh? I've also been called a rich bitch because I had a good job, which I obtained by putting myself through school in order to get a good degree, not because I had anything handed to me. But the person that called me that (an unemployed perfectly able bodied single man who lived with his mother) didn't care to hear about that. I've never been actually discrminated against to my knowledge, and I was curious to hear your experiences. As far as why it was odd that a black girl put a stop to it, was this girl part of their crew or something?
And no, you never did directly answer my question. I actually took the time to go back through this entire thread earlier today to make sure I hadn't missed it. You clarified what you meant to say, but you did NOT explain why you chose to word it in that way. And IMO, it's because you did mean to word it that way, and that you truly are distrustful of all Muslims & think any Muslim might be a terrorist.
And I can't make heads or tails of your last paragraph in the above quote, perhaps we're talking about two different things? Yes, I do agree with you that there will be a huge blow-up in the Middle East between opposing religious groups. But no, I do not hate or suspect all Muslims of terrorism. These two opinions are independent of one another in my book.
You claim to love a good discussion & debate, but it seems that when you're called out on something you cry "baiting!" I mean really, Mary, if you're having trust issues with someone on a message board, you're taking this place waaaayyyy to seriously. Trump has no leg to stand on in this suit. Truth is a defense and everything she said was true or an opinion, which is not actionable. The only thing that maight hold water is her statement "he'll probably be bankrupt by that time so I won't have to worry" - but The Donald has been bankrupt before and to disprove this statement, which is essentially non actionable conjecture at best, The Donald will have to show his holdings, which he has been loathe to do in the past and he has been bankrupt in the past.
Also, Trump will come across as an ass because he attacked a woman by calling her ugly on the inside and outside - which is the same as saying she is fat, which does not play well with women in Middle America and elsewhere. And, let's face it, The Donald is doing this for ratings for his new show, though he may be pissed as well.
Also, Rosie in theory could sue The Donals because she is not a loser per se. Her cable talk show made her millions, she most certainly did not fold up like a tent when her magazine got sued - rather she fought it and partially won, and her cruise line stuff is doing well. So, her attacked her business interests with that and she could prove damages. She could also seek a restraining order against The Donald for his threats againse her family.
In the end, I think this is one big publicity stunt by The Donald.
Having said that, The Donald is an a$$ for saying/threatening the following:
"Rosie is somebody out of control who really just doesn't have it and she ought to be careful because I'll send one of my friends to pick up her girlfriend and I think it would be very easy," he said.
Could you imagine if he said that about a heterosexual man's wife

Here is some info on The Donald's "success"
Bankruptcy
The following information is disputed by Donald Trump and the outcome of possible litigation between him and Rosie O'Donnell may help to clarify. By 1990, the effects of recession left him unable to meet loan payments. Although he shored up his businesses with additional loans and postponed interest payments, increasing debt brought Trump to business bankruptcy and the brink of personal bankruptcy. Banks and bond holders had lost hundreds of millions of dollars, but opted to restructure his debt to avoid the risk of losing more money in court. Things were so bleak for Trump at this time that in the August 21, 1990 edition of the Jersey Record, columnist Mike Kelly wrote "If we still had debtors' prisons, Trump would be in the dungeon." Kelly added that "Donald Trump is a Third World Nation." Also in 1990, he co-produced the game show Trump Card in syndication.
By 1994, Trump had eliminated a large portion of his $900 million personal debt and reduced significantly his nearly $3.5 billion in business debt. While he was forced to relinquish the Trump Shuttle (which he had bought in 1989), he managed to retain Trump Tower in New York City and control of his three casinos in Atlantic City. Chase Manhattan Bank, (which lent Trump the money he needed to buy the West Side yards, his biggest Manhattan parcel) forced a sale of the parcel to Asian developers. According to former members of the Trump Organization, Trump did not retain any ownership of the site's real estate - the owners merely promised to give him about 30 percent of the profits once the site was completely developed or sold. Until that time, the owners wanted to keep Trump on to do what he did best: building things. They gave him a modest construction fee and a management fee to oversee the development. The new owners also allowed him to put his name on the buildings that eventually rose on the yards because his well-known moniker allowed them to charge a premium for their condos.
In 1995, he combined his casino holdings into the publicly held Trump Hotels & Casino Resorts. Wall Street drove its stock above $35 in 1996, but by 1998 it had fallen into single digits as the company remained profitless and struggled to pay just the interest on its nearly $2 billion in debt. Under such financial pressure, the properties were unable to make the improvements necessary for keeping up with their flashier competitors.
In 1999, Donald's father Fred Trump, a multi-billion dollar real estate mogul, died. Fred Trump, the same man who cosigned Donald's first business loans, also happened to be the man who enabled Donald to escape from the massive financial morass he had created over the decades. Creditors who got stuck with the past losses were not as fortunate. Whereas Donald walked away from his empire unscathed, others were forced to take catastrophic writeoffs and losses even up to 2004, when Trump refused to continue to back his casino. Although Trump boasted he would build a bigger empire than his father, in the end, his father built an empire so large it could even accommodate Donald's most lavish personal losses.
Problems loomed for Trump's casino resorts. In a May 28, 2004 Wall Street Journal article, Trump said the spectre of bankruptcy bothered him "from a psychological standpoint," but added, "it really wouldn't matter that much." A number of his bondholders disagreed. In the same article, "Meyer Marvald, a Florida retiree who says he owns about $44,000 of the bonds," said Trump "has the Sword of Damocles hanging over our heads." On October 21, 2004, Trump Hotels & Casino Resorts announced a restructuring of its debt. The plan called for Trump's individual ownership to be reduced from 56 percent to 27 percent, with bondholders receiving stock in exchange for surrendering part of the debt. Since then, Trump Hotels has been forced to seek voluntary bankruptcy protection to stay afloat. As a result of his company filing for Chapter 11 Protection, in May of 2005 Trump relinquished his CEO position.

ok, to answer a few things:
Jason, I did admit that in this area I deviated from my usual Liberal leanings.
I made that clear with my very first post  Also, with regard to your comment about the race wars in THIS country, I agree with you.
Paula, since you sound sincere (and I have never ever "cried baiting" before on this board, you are the first, and If I am wrong I take it back) here is what happened:
When I was in 7th grade I was a bookwormish skinny kid with glasses. kept to myself. Apparently a group of Black girls saw in me a chance to feel superior because for several months (every DAY) they would hound me and push/hit me and harrass me and say things like "did you just call me a nigger?" when I was saying nothing at ALL! There's more, but I think you get the point. I wasnt seriously hurt but I was terrorised for months like this and a typical day would have about 3 hours worth of misery in it. This one girl in particular had gym with me and made me completely miserable the entire PE period. Finally another black girl, Carolyn (I still remember her name) told this group of girls to leave me alone and if they didnt, they'd have to answer to her!! Well you can imagine my surprise....and I was like a grateful puppy dog of course which embarrassed her and she pretty much told me to knock it off!! The thing I found amazing was that even though I was pretty much silent throughout this whole ordeal, (or I would deny things) was that these girls would accuse me of saying stuff I obviously wasnt saying and then push/hit me for it. There were 5 or 6 of them at all times and you could see they got great glee out of it. Yes it was a schoolyard bully type situation but they tried to play the race card and take it to another level IMO.
Regarding your other comment: I cant believe anyone would actually think that I think ALL Muslims are terrorists because I never said that anywhere and I never implied it either. The statements I DID make (about the Arabs/Muslims never accepting Israel, and an impending apocalypse between Muslim/Christian or East/West if you will) have either been corroborated by other sources (wikipedia for one) or other people (such as yourself) have agreed with me. At this point, what more is there to say?

So, here is an example of how everyday Muslims can help make a difference:
(kinda reminds me of the Dem takeover of Congress):
Ahmadinejad opponents win elections
By ALI AKBAR DAREINI, Associated Press Writer 23 minutes ago
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's opponents won local council elections in Iran, final results showed Thursday, in an embarrassing blow to the hard-line leader that could force him to change his staunch anti-Western stance and focus more on domestic issues.
Last week's elections for local councils in towns and cities across Iran were widely seen as a referendum on Ahmadinejad's 18 months in office.
Since taking power, Ahmadinejad has escalated Iran's confrontation with the United States and the West, drawing the threat of U.N. sanctions for pushing ahead with uranium enrichment in Iran's nuclear program. He has also provoked international outrage for his comments against Israel and casting doubt on the Nazi Holocaust.
His hard-line stances are believed to have divided the conservatives who voted him into power last year, with some feeling Ahmadinejad has spent too much time confronting the West and has failed to deal with Iran's struggling economy.
Moderate conservatives opposed to Ahmadinejad won a majority of the seats in Friday's elections followed by reformists who were suppressed by hard-liners in 2004, according to final results announced by the Interior Ministry.
The final results also represented a partial comeback for reformists, who were crushed over the past five years by hard-liners who drove them out of the local councils, parliament and the presidency. The reformists favor closer ties with the West and further loosening of social and political restrictions under the Islamic government.
In Tehran, the capital, candidates supporting Mayor Mohammed Bagher Qalibaf, a moderate conservative, won seven of the 15 council seats. Reformists won four, while Ahmadinejad's allies won three. The last seat went to wrestling champion Ali Reza Dabir, who won a gold medal in the 2000 Sydney Olympics and is considered an independent.
Final results for the rest of the country also showed a heavy defeat for Ahmadinejad supporters, and analysts said his allies won less than 20 percent of local council seats nationwide. None of his candidates won seats on the councils in the cities of Shiraz, Bandar Abbas, Sari, Zanjan, Rasht, Ilam, Sanandaj and Kerman. Many councils in other cities were divided along similar proportions as Tehran's.
Last week's election for local councils, which handle community matters in cities and towns, does not directly effect Ahmadinejad's administration and is not expected to bring immediate policy changes.
But it was the first time the public has weighed in on Ahmadinejad's stormy presidency since he took office in June 2005. The results are expected to pressure him to change his populist anti-Western tone and focus more on Iran's high unemployment and economic problems at home.
Leading reformist Saeed Shariati said the results of the election was a "big no" to Ahmadinejad and his allies.
"People's vote means they don't support Ahmadinejad's policies and want change," Shariati, a leader of the Islamic Iran Participation Front, Iran's largest reformist party told The Associated Press on Thursday.
Shariati accused Ahmadinejad of harming Iran's interests with his hard line.
"We consider this government's policy to be against Iran's national interests and security. It is simply acting against Iran's interests," he said. His party seeks democratic changes within Iran's ruling Islamic establishment and supports relations with the United States.
Similar anti-Ahmadinejad sentiment was visible in the final results of a parallel election held to select members of the Assembly of Experts, a conservative body of 86 senior clerics that monitors Iran's supreme leader and chooses his successor.
A big boost for moderates within the ruling Islamic establishment was visible in the big number of votes for former President Hashemi Rafsanjani, who lost to Ahmadinejad in the 2005 presidential election runoff.
Rafsanjani, who supports dialogue with the United States, received the most votes of any Tehran candidate to win re-election to the assembly. Also re-elected was Hasan Rowhani, Iran's former top nuclear negotiator whom Ahmadinejad has repeatedly accused of making too many concessions to the Europeans.
Iran started having council elections after a reform introduced in 1999 by then President Mohammed Khatami.
More than 233,000 candidates ran for more than 113,000 council seats in cities, towns and villages across the vast nation on Friday. All municipal council candidates, including some 5,000 women, were vetted by parliamentary committees dominated by hard-liners. The committees disqualified about 10,000 nominees, reports said.
Ultimately, what I hope to see in this world is PEACE.

a) you DID misinterpret and I tried to correct your misinterpretation. I cant see how "that is the one area where I deviate from my usual Liberal leanings and Im not the person you should ask because you wouldnt like my answer" becomes "I hate ALL Muslims" or that I think Muslims need to be locked up in concentration camps. I never said that anywhere. ANYWHERE.
so, YES you did misinterpret. When I said "I hope I never have to say "I told you so" I was referring to my visions of an impending apocalypse between Christian/Muslim. Ive said that over and over and over yet you seem to want to cling to YOUR interpretation of my original statement in spite of ALL MY EFFORTS to show you different. Only I know what I meant, and Im not shy about speaking my mind, if I meant something a certain way, I'd certainly SAY so.
You really think the other parties are not defending themselves? After all, their land was taken and then more land was taken. Wouldn't you be a little pissed off too?
b) Israel was created with the help of the British Govt and Sanctioned by the UN and various Western Countries. They gained more land in the 6 days war when they went on the offensive against Syria and Egypt who were planning to attack them. Prior to the Arab occupation of Jerusalem and Palestine, that was Hebrew land, their historic holy city. Arabs capured it and occupied it for about 1300 years, thus they think it belongs to them. One could see their point. I happen to believe the Hebrews/Jews have the prior claim, and in my opinion, the creation of Israel was a step toward rectifying that situation.

I don't think that history is so easy to explain (as in your above post). It is never easy to decide "who has a prior claim". You may express your opinion in a conversation and that's about it. Your opinion and its expression (not only yours, I mean everybody's) have very little to do with the truth or (what's even worse) with "right" and "wrong"Not to mention that there is no actual 'truth" when it comes to history and politics, but whatever.
So, to your previous post, someone could argue (not me, but whatev.) that who cares who lived there 2000 years ago, the Jews went there after WWII and kicked the Arabs out. At least that's what I hear from people who dislike the Jews. So there you go.

yes. agreed. Im not saying the current Palestinians dont have a valid point, however, the history of the Holy Land is pretty well documented for at least the past 2000 years, and even if History is written by the victor (as they say!) it is the History that has been generally accepted as truth. Im not making anything up. If there were any claims to that land other than Jew or Arab, I at least am not aware of them
But I think, given that there is no place for the Jews to call their own in the whole wide world, that this ancestral homeland of theirs is the most likely place, and since they have said they will accept (and live in peace beside) a Palestinian state, that the real blame for continued fighting lies with Israel's enemies, be they Arab, Muslim, or whoever. Of course, this is (as you say) my opinion.

But will they be willing and able to live in that harmony. I think history demonstrates they are unwilling.
On a slightly different note, I am glad the building of the walls and the no man's lands conceived in the late 80's and early 90's as solutions were scratched. Those, to me, did nothing to resolve the problems.
In the end, the people of the region clearly had the valid calim under any law I am aware of. In other words, squatters come to own the land, especially after several hundred if not thousands of years. So, I get that the Jewish race/faith deserved to be there as well, but it is the taking of the land by some third party and giving it to them and kicking out the local people that just is wrong to me. None of us would like for the American Indians to do that to us and they have far more of a claim as this was 100% their land until we got here
Note - I am speaking conceptually and not against Israel per se as I do think Israel should exist. I just think the way they went about it is BS and was done totally to serve the interest of the west so they could place the boat people no one wanted.
Mary, this thing about the Jews not having a place of their own is something that I think about very much lately (for some unknown reason I am reading a lot of things on the Holocaust nowadays). However, I have to admit that I am not very familiar with the political aspects of this matter, so I don't have an actual opinion myself. :o I just stated the obvious, the famous cliche "there are two sides to each story".
I like and hate Athens  It is a beautiful city from an historical perspective, but the traffic is INSANE!!!!!!!

Jason, they have said they are willing. If they've responded militarily in the past its because they were attacked first. (even in the 6 days war, Egypt and Syria made their intentions clear by massing machines/airplanes/troops etc on the borders...Israel just beat them to the punch, and I say Good for Them). As for how Israel came into being in the first place, you have to remember that because of the Holocaust, the majority of the world felt that the Jews deserved a place of their own, and its my understanding that there was a general consensus (among the West at least) that Israel was the logical place for them to be. after all, Jerusalem was/is their capital. As for people displacing people it happens all the time, it happens even today and nobody likes it but its not like its unprecedented....

The West did not want them - The US actually turned them away. So, the West thought, screw the people there, we are the West and we don't want them and this is how it's going to be. As far as Miss USA goes, what did they think would happen to a girl form a one horse town who's suddenly transplanted into the luxuries of Manhattan? She's 20 for cripe's sake. Trump is a heartless people collector and a carpetbagger of the highest order. But he is no different than many other robber baron silver spoon douchebag NY businessmen from the 1600's to the present. He is the type that has steamrolled anything in his path in order to fill the hole in his soul with material possessions and wealth and grew an inflated ego in order to deal with the fact that he has a tiny penis and his parents didn't love him. He's left ex wives, broken families and bilked investors in his wake his entire adult life.
He's not an interesting story, and he is hardly original.
Call Rosie a loudmouth and crass all you want, kids. She is something of an original. She is also a trailblazer by virtue of the fact that she is a prominent out of the closet big old dyke who has conquered a number of mediums in the entertainment industry that no woman like her has done before. I mean, come on, the darling of housewives all over the country for years - having a magazine that catered to those women too? It's pretty unbelievable. And on top of that having this long term girlfriend, adopting a bunch of kids no one wanted, and she has a cruiseline that caters to gay families. She's made it safer for a lot of people to exist and live their lives as who they are. Just by her very presence. She bugs me sometimes, certainly. I think she is too sensitive about the gay stuff. But then again, she meets people all the time who have had the **** beaten out of them literally and figuratively for being homos. Overall, she has helped lots of people as a role model for being being true to herself and being a tough broad in a straight white guy's world. She will ultimately be remembered as a person who changed the world for the better and Trump will remembered as just another self absorbed, egotistical entreprenuer who exploited people and resources for his own gain and gratification. And wore a cheap, ugly ass toupee in the process.

Okay, this is great. Rosie will be remembered as one of the key "heroes" in a critical time in the fight for gay equality.
And what you said about Rosie being too sensitive, but it comes out of personal experience, is bit of what is being said about the ching-chong thing. The outrage over it seems too sensitive to me, but they are based on something that I haven't experienced.
Now back to Arabs, Muslims, Jews, terrorists, backpedaling, etc.

Okay... my apologies in advance for kicking this contentious thread back up again... but I thought I would share a little bit of my "day-in-the-life" with you...
So yesterday I was walking down Bleecker Street minding my bidness, plugged into my iPod, etc. I passed one of those bodegas selling cheap silver jewelry on the sidewalk to tourists, and a black, seemingly homeless man was standing out front grinning. And for a nanosecond I glanced over when he glanced at me. He smiled and said "Happy New Year," while, of course, holding out his change cup. I replied tersely, "Hey, you too," as I passed him. Then all of the sudden he starts shouting to me at the top of his lungs: "Hey, you know karate, right?" Oh great... thanks for the humiliation.
I had already passed him and pretended not to hear him since I had my headphones on. My immediate gut reaction was that guy was an idiot. But why did he single me out? It's one thing if we were in some backwoods town where minorities didn't exist, but this is NYC for chrissakes! Or maybe it was some indirect compliment that I looked tough enough to kick some behind? (and if I had a nickel for every black man that asked me how much I benched...  ). What if I had fired back with something snarky like "well, you know how to braid hair, right?" Would that have put him in his place or would it just make me look as stupid?
Of course this isn't the first time I've been subjected to this, but definitely the first time in NYC. It's the 21st century, y'all; it's time to lose the playground mentality, mmmkay?

I'm sure he has the best health care possible. If you have good health care and can afford the drugs (or have good insurance), then you can live healthy for 20-25 years these days. I have friends who were diagnosed with HIV 15-20 years ago and have never had one problem (except side effects from the drugs).
The people who die quickly or suffer a lot of health problems these days are those who find out too late they have HIV, or don't have good care, or have other things going on like Hep C, substance abuse issues, etc. Or a combination of all of the above.

Believe it or not, I take care of a lot of people who are HIV+ in the hills of WVA. You're right, the ones who are the most sick are the ones you mentioned above. Prisoners are ones to add to your list. They always seem to come into the hospital and turn from bad to worse very quickly. They are not getting the care they need in jail. Ethical problem, for sure.

Yes, indeed. HIV and prisons is a huge, huge problem and their health care is usually absolute crap.
West Virginia is actually a bit "famous" in the AIDS world as you all had a waiting list for AIDS drugs a few years ago and three people died while on that list. But that has all changed and there are some amazing advocates in your state.

I have no idea... I suspect it's the same reason why people talk back at the movie screen in a mostly-black theatre  - I just find in general that blacks are relatively more vocal about their opinions.
When I get comments, it's usually when I'm in a store trying on clothes (which is always a nightmare). Let's just say that I know how Dolly Parton must feel- big boobs on a skinny frame. But once when I was in San Francisco and walking through the Tenderloin (in broad daylight, mind you), this black guy I was passing on the sidewalk just reached out and felt me up! A split second. I was like... WTF?? Anyway, now I make sure to give that area a wide berth whenever I'm in SF.

I thought there was that lingering speculation about he really contracted HIV, especially since, statistically speaking, female-to-male transmission is extremely low. I don't remember the exact figure... but I think it was tantamount to getting struck with lightning.
