Ew, I know. Eating it as a kid always made me feel like I was doing something wrong...
I love pb with almost any kind of jam, except for the weird combos like apricot or grape. Strawberry is the way to go!

Have you tried the honey-roasted Skippy? So. freaking. good. Sometimes I'll just get a big spoonful and eat it right out of the jar.

Hmm..I don't know - I'm not very open-minded in the food department, and I've never really taken to regular Skippy or Peter Pan..Jif is where it's at.
Buuuut....I have a problem with Jif. It's only great for so long - a few days or so after it's been opened it tastes like every other peanut butter
I used to love Apricot jelly - but as of late I can only do Grape or Strawberry - and I need them to be low-sugar or I just can't handle 'em.
Oh and I was 25 years old when I finally had my first fluffernutter :p

Regular Skippy is kind of heavy, I find. But the light is really good. There's a huge difference in texture and everything. I only go for half or no sugar jam, too. I've found I can't take sicky sweet things anymore.
I've never had fluffernutter at all. Can I blame it on being Canadian?

Sure! Or you can blame it on not wanting to go into extreme diabetic shock  I was not a fan of the fluffernutter.
Hmm...I'm reluctant to try a new peanut butter :o Perhaps one day - I buy it so infrequently...it's not one of my staples.
Ew - this reminds me - on the Today Show yesterday they were profiling this new "automat" style restaurant in New York -and one of their offerings was a FRIED Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich....the sight of it made me gag...

Nah, I don't buy a lot of pb either. It tends to last for ages, so...
I looked up fluffernutter - I've had that! We used it to make s'mores when I was a kid. It was ridiculously sweet. blugh. Fried pb&j sounds gross. Almost as bad as fried banana and pb, which my grandfather liked. Weirdo!

Srsly, it rocks so much. I dunno if they'd have it up there, but you should look for it next time you're at the store or whatevs.
Meanwhile I could write a novel about the awesome candy you have up there. Your Smarties pwn ours.

Cash is drinking a peanut butter milkshake right now. We ONLY eat creamy. I'm not that picky on brand, though(although as a kid, if Mom didn't buy Peter Pan, I wouldn't eat it!). I usually buy cheapo(Aldi's:o ), but Kroger's had Skippy for 99c last month, so I bought 3 jars of it.

Peter Pan Honey Roasted Peanut Butter is my ultimate favorite with some strawberry preserves. YUMMY! I also enjoy Blackberry preserves, and generally stay away from grape, had too much of it as a kid I guess. But I also love Peter Pan's sugar-free peanut butter when my blood sugar is too high. It's really the best I've tasted of the no-sugar variety.
And peanut butter on a banana with no bread is my snack of choice. Just stand their at the counter with an open jar and a banana then just coat the thing down as I peel it. Damn I want some now.

I know...that's why I eat it so infrequently. It's by no means health food  And sadly I don't like any of the natural peanut butters I've tried  Hell I don't even like commercial brands, except Jif. It's odd.

this is one of the best threads ever!! what memories.
i got peanut butter and strawberry jam in my lunch every single day when i was a kid. my sister would only eat peanut butter and RASPBERRY jam (she was weird). i would only eat smooth; she would only eat crunchy (ick. hello? the extra nuts would tear up the bread).
i have never in my life had marshmallow fluff.
and i can't believe no one has mentioned the greatest PB pairing of all time: peanut butter and honey! you want for to die? it's the best!! put it on toasted dark russian bread, and you're in heaven.
finally, another combination that i discovered, too (and i have no idea what ever led me to do this...) peanut butter and... ready for it? kraft processed cheese slice. :o i kid you not. try it.

Well Jif is really sweet - but I can't compare it to anything else because I haven't had any other brand in a really long time....
And I forgot to mention - I will eat other brands of peanut butte -but in that case there must be lots of jelly to offset the taste  Jif I like on its own or with minimal jelly :D

this is one of the best threads ever!! what memories.
i got peanut butter and strawberry jam in my lunch every single day when i was a kid. my sister would only eat peanut butter and RASPBERRY jam (she was weird). i would only eat smooth; she would only eat crunchy (ick. hello? the extra nuts would tear up the bread).
i have never in my life had marshmallow fluff.

PB and cheese??? OMG. That is so... I... Are you sure you didn't discover that during a raging case of the munchies? I need to try that. Goodbye, weight loss. pb & honey doesn't sound too bad. I used to eat honey and bread all the time. My mom thought I was nuts.

I love honey. Honey in tea, honey as a dip for chicken, but I've never had it with PB. I'm so trying it. :D
My oddest kid concoction was butter on saltine crackers.

I still eat butter on saltines! And peanut butter on saltines! I love crackers... and I love crunchy Peter Pan peanut butter. I think I'm gonna go home and have toast with lots of melted peanut butter and jelly... my mouth is literally watering now.

Exactly! My mom did too.
Another accidental combo I discovered (when I was 14, long before all the gourmet stores decided it was delish) was chocolate on popcorn. While I was babysitting, one kid wanted an ice cream sundae & the other wanted popcorn. Ooops. I mean, voila!

I've never put chocolate on the popcorn, but I do enjoy mixing chocoate candy (choco-covered raisins, m&ms) with popcorn...sooo good.
Oh - and actually the boyscouts sell this chocolate covered caramel popcorn that is to die for.

I always get the peanut butter with the teddy bears on the label... Kraft. I'm always sure it's me they are waving at! There's a great commercial for that brand where someone starts to put peanut butter on their toast and these two big teddy bears run up and hug them. The one with the green bow is smoothie and the one with the red bow is crunchy. I want those things! They should sell bears like them. Maybe they did once?

That's the one I don't like! :p Actually, I'm pretty sure they did sell little Kraft bears at one time... I'm so sure I had one, or at least saw them somewhere. The commercial is cute, and I love the teddies, but after comparing it to Skippy, I realized that Kraft is krap.

butter on saltines? yup - did that one, too. thought i was the only one in the world.
(i'm fairly certain i still own peanut butter and kraft processed cheese slices)
i'm wondering where the PB and honey thing comes from, since it is SO everyday normal to me, but not to many here. canadian maybe? any fellow canadians want to weigh in?
i will add... it must be creamed-style honey (not the liquid kind) - and if you REALLy want to indulge, butter the bread, too. oh - and that reminds me. another good PB combo is peanut butter and butter!
