I WISSSSSSHHH!! But I guess in spirit anyways.

I'm so excited, I leave on vacation on Friday and wanted to wish everyone a happy holiday and great New Year. I'm going to be taking my Christine with me, she absolutly must travel with me and thanks to Mary Ann's idea of putting all Christine's songs together from her solo and Fleetwood Mac days on one CD, I think I'm going to be in heaven. I have a lot of friends and family that are going to be listening to my Christine collection. I'm so excited, for them too!

Well I'll be gone a month and then probably take a month to settle back in, so see you in a few months! :( But when I come back I will post some pics of Africa. :)

Until then some food for thought...

"For Stevie, the words are of prime importance; the song moves around the words, rather than the words moving around the song." - Christine McVie.

 I thought Chris might be joining (or starting) a tribe, or something. Out of Africa.... It's Christine McVie!

Anyway, have a safe and happy trip, and a good New Year. :wavey:

I kind of thought that too when I saw the thread title. I wondered what in the world was she doing in South Africa?

:wavey: Yay! I'm back and boy have I missed chatting! Hi everyone!

Well, I had the most beautiful time in South Africa! I highly recommend to anyone to go on a Safari! I highly recommend it before you die! It was totally stunning, especially seeing Elton John on Safari too oh and what a bitch! hahaha It was wonderful to be back there and visit old places, family and friends! I am however so happy that I don't live there anymore! It opened my eyes to how very lucky we are in a first world country. We are way to spoilt in the fortunate lives we have. It really makes you treasure the good things in your life and not to take everything and anything for granted especially human life! I have a ton of photo's, over 1500. I will try to post the best of the best up on snap fish or on here! I did have a revolutionary thought when I came back to the States and that was that I never want to live in South Africa again but I was surprised to learn that I don't want to live here either! The States has been good to me, how could it not, everything you ever want is right here, but for me there is that something missing. I think someone that is an immigrant can really understand that! Perhaps it's the artificial climate of California or it could be the States it's self, either way I am in the process of thinking of moving over to Australia. I have never been before, I'll do a holiday first before I make a final decision. When I was in South Africa everyone I mean everyone ranted and raved about Australia. A lot of people were saying that it is the best of California and the best of South Africa that's why so many of South Africans have immigrated to Australia, which totally excites me! I will totally keep you updated on all the happenings as they unfold... "In the meantime"...

I unfortunately was very upset that I didn't get to hear my Christine McVie over there as I was so constantly entertained and stimulated by other people! I almost needed a vacation from vacation. I was a little bummed about it but I managed to get through. I even saw some faeries, so that made up for it I guess! hahaha But next time, I think I'll be doing the entertaining! :) I haven't even put on a Christine album on yet since I left, **** that's a long time, I have been stuck listening to Madonna's "Live Confessions" CD and some dance stuff and some South African bands I bought in South Africa. I hope to pull out a McVie soon for God sakes! :)

Other wise, it's all good to be back! I hope everyone here is well and had a safe and wonderful holiday season! See you later on the ledge...

hi ian! good to have you back. i'm glad you had a good time and i can't wait to see all your pictures.

especially seeing Elton John on Safari too

you saw elton john on safari? LOL

I think someone that is an immigrant can really understand that! Perhaps it's the artificial climate of California or it could be the States it's self, either way I am in the process of thinking of moving over to Australia. i understand where you're coming from. i feel similarly. in some ways, i think it's because everything you want is so readily available here. it's easy to lose sight of what is really important. there is definitely a difference betwen having comfort & safety and having real "quality of life". . .for me at least, i feel like i've lost a lot by being here in terms of friends and family and real connection. most days it seems like all i have is my job and work and more work and some nice things. i don't want to make a horrible sweeping generalisation, but lately everyone i meet is so disinterested in life and in being a human being. of course that's probably not particular to the states, but i do think i encounter that kind of attitude with more frequency here.

i sincerely hope you find what you're looking for in australia or wherever you may decide to go. life's too short to spend it somewhere that makes you unhappy. :)

and for the record, i'm not a fan of the california climate. i like seasons too much!
