WASHINGTON (AP)--Mary Cheney, the openly gay daughter of U.S. Vice-President Dick Cheney and his wife, Lynne, is pregnant.

Mary Cheney, 37, and her partner of 15 years, Heather Poe, 45, are expecting a baby, said Lea Anne McBride, a spokesman for the vice-president. The baby is due in late spring.

"The vice-president and Mrs. Cheney are looking forward with eager anticipation to the arrival of their sixth granddaughter," McBride said.

The VP's other daughter, Elizabeth, had her fifth child with her husband in July.

Mary Cheney, an aide to her father during the 2004 campaign, now is vice-president for consumer advocacy at AOL.

Some righty said they were disappointed because this would encourage lesbians of less means to try to have children. They never cease to amaze me.

Keep grandpappy away from the kid, period. :eek: Jesus, how does that woman reconcile her family with her lifestyle? My parents are looking great to me right now!

they are so right. i mean, my whole life i haven't wanted kids, but now that mary cheney has done it, i just gotta find me some sperm STAT!!!

But seriously folks, she and her partner have been together for quite a while so I'm sure the child will have a stable home and want for nothing. Just keep it away from Dick.
