So we got this call saying an armed man is in our area...not to leave, to lock all door etc. Our station is in a building with a bank and various other businesses lol....
SO yeah - no one can leave. It's 5 and no one can go home...doesn't affect me as I stay here much later than 5 - but I'm used to being alone by this time....
It's cool - our GM apparently had a stash of girl scout cookies, he's broken those out
Anyway - ever had anything like that happen to ya?

Have they offered a description of the perp yet?
I offer a moment of silence in the hope that it isn't an ex-military guy who's a runner.

It was upgraded to a "voluntary lockdown"
so everyone decided to go home..leaving me here alone
Boy that tells ya what they think of ME!!! :p
No - actually I'm five floors up, and in a locked building, so the chances of him coming up here are slim -and my GM just said if the "lockdown" was still in effect when it's time for me to leave to call him...and he'll come escort me out...awww....

I was on lockdown at work one night, when I was still on midnight shift. It was back when the Sago miner was there....and CNN...and Fox News....and everyone that is media. There was a bomb threat by that radical group that protests military funerals. They said my hospital was serving a devil. They called in bomb threats all night, one night. It was horrible. I really thought I would lose a limb or two that night.

 I'd be scared if those wackos were the ones threatening too - no telling what they'll do...yikes! You lockdown is scarier
Ugh - and I just found out that this suspect is holed up in an apartment like many blocks from here....he's in a standoff with police...so he's not even free...don't know why they'd lock down our building

I hope you get out to your car safely when you go home.
I remember when I was little, I used to go to work with my mom. She was a courier for a medical laboratory. There was some guy outside the building being wierd and they locked all the doors. That's about the closest I've come to anything like that. LOL This guy was homeless though...not armed, I don't think.
Hope they get him outta there and it gets resolved soon.
ETA: I guess they are just being precautious in regards to him being not in the building, but nearby.

I'm glad to know you didn't get shot in Harlem the other day, sweetie. ;]
I've never really been in a lockdown before, though, last year, there was a kid who had a seziure during homeroom, in the hallway, so the principal came over the PA instructing us that we were not to leave our homerooms until further notice. That lasted about an hour or so. It was sucky.

Police have shot the guy....he's not dead, but injured...and I will not be shot going to my car tonight (hopefully).

That happened all the time in my school. Girls would overload on OTC's and keel over in the hallway a lot. And they only held us in class so they werent trampled under foot. :p
My favorite was when someone called in a bomb threat to the school and they actually let us out early. Of course, it was like, a 13 yeard old who called it in too.

did you go to HS in hell?
the most excitement we had was when a squirrel stepped on a transformer box outside the school and the power went out, and we got sent home. and when i was in 9th grade, there were threats of violence for 5/5/99. people were walking around going "five five nine nine, ten times worse than columbine!!111" it was completely retarded.
