Pretend that it is 1981, and you get to create the tracklist for Bella Donna. Remember that there are only ten slots available for songs. This is not a 2003 17-track reissue with remastered sound. It is your ideal Bella Donna. You can change the order of the songs however you want. It would be helpful to underline your additions.

Bella Donna
Blue Lamp
Think About It
After the Glitter Fades
Outside the Rain
Edge of Seventeen
How Still My Love
Julia
Sleeping Angel
Gold and Braid

Omitted:
Kind of Woman
The Highwayman
Leather and Lace (I think it would have been cool if Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter had sung this one)
Stop Dragging My Heart Around (This could have gone on Tom Petty's 1981 album. Still as a duet of course).

Now make your own! Because I know you have thought about this before!

Dude, you can't eliminate SDMHA! That was the breakout single from her record.
I can't eliminate anything from the record because I remember listening to it for the first and five hundredth time and being completely enchanted by the songs and her. When we get to the 17 track remastered reissue round, I'll play. ;)

WWWWWWWHHHHHYYYYYYYYY did you get rid of Kind of Woman? Bella Donna is perfection so I'd have it the way it is.

I wouldn't change a thing. It's a gorgeous album, from start to finish.

I would make only two minor changes in the running order.

Bella Donna
Stop Draggin' My Heart Around
Kind Of Woman
Think About It
After The Glitter Fades
Edge of Seventeen
Leather and Lace
Outside The Rain
How Still My Love
The Highwayman

I think this has a better flow. After the somewhat mid-tempo Bella Donna, I think a song with a nice solid intro is necessary to keep the flow up. Having KOW after BD might make an average fan think, "is the whole album going to be like this." That's actually the impression I had when I first got the cassette tape. Mind you, The Wild Heart was my first purchase and to me that album flows with perfection (with the album and or cassette in mind when you had to flip to side 2.) So those are the only minor changes I would make, however, if we are to ever get a re-release with a bonus CD of outtakes, then I hope they would include the following:

If You Ever Did Believe
The Dealer
Gypsy
Baby Doll
Gold and Braid
Julia
... and of course outtakes or demos of some of the songs that did end up on "BD."
... and anything else she recorded during that time that I can't think of

Bella Donna is perfect as it is. I wouldn't change anything to the existing album. A bonus disc of the rest of the sessions would be nice. :woohoo:

ITA - Why mess with perfection? And the idea of a bonus disc makes me wish we were getting a 25th anniversary of Bella Donna remaster in 5.1 surround sound, instead of a rehash of greatest hits.

Exactly. Paging Ken Caillat!

Even "The Highwayman"? Everybody wants to keep that song? It is always the first one out in Survivor games.
