any of you who get google or yahoo alerts for stevie or fleetwood mac... have you not noticed a HUGE number of newspapers and blogs have picked up the lindsay lohan story? many have reprinted the original syndicated wire copy, but a fair number have written their own, too. either way, it is getting a lot of play. which leads me to think... this could be a sign it's going to happen? if they're treating this like a test balloon - ie. let's float this idea out there and see what kind of reception it gets - i'm thinking it could. i haven't read every single story because, frankly, i'm a little sick (and sickened) by the idea. but i haven't seen much trashing of the notion.
i said in my original post in the other thread that i didn't think there was a hope in hell that stevie and/or fleetwood mac would sell the rights to lohan. now... i'm not so sure.
thoughts?

i've been getting a ton of alerts, too. and my friend told me about it today! i was like, thanks for the news ...
it'll be interesting to see what happens ... it's certainly gotten more press than i thought it would. i'm less against the idea than i was when i first heard about it ... as others have said, nobody would really be good enough for me, so why not LL?

LOL...don't get me started!!! I somehow have become some sort of Lindsay defender on here....I really don't mind this and I think she could pull it off and I think she's talented...even though she's a total flake and apparently whore (hangin' with Paris and Britt one just sort of absorbs that title)...I think she's ok...

well, let me add my $0.02 - my insides aren't ripped out over this, but I can think of people I'd rather be in the lead role.If I had my druthers, they'd cast a complete unknown or someone relatively unknown. I think too often in these biopics, it just ends up seeming like more of a tour-de-force for a famous and/or recognizable actor than anything else.
If it's an unknown in that part, you don't have any preconceived notions about them... good or bad.
But there's always the chance that Lindsay Lohan might be able to pull it off. At the very least, she's generated a lot of press for Stevie, and even if she doesn't ultimately end up playing her, there's a good chance that all of this talk will get the attention of some big-wig somewhere, and they'll realize that Stevie's life would make a great film.

I'm with you man - an unknown cast with the vehicle to make them STARS!!!!
but just for kicks. . .
who would you pick to play the key roles if age etc weren't important.
so pick any actress or actor who has ever lived . . .
my first thought picks . . .
Mick - The really tall alien in "Close Encounters of The Third Kind"
John - Humphrey Bogart
Christine - Dixie Carter with a dye job
Lindsey and Stevie - Joan Crawford and Bette Davis. . . .or
- Abbot and Costello
- Godzilla and Monster X
(okay lindsey would be Charlton Heston - "God Damn You Lousy Stinking Apes!!
and stevie would be Halle Berry )

If it were an unknown that wanted to play the part - we probably wouldn't be having these discussions cause it probably wouldn't get much press. It's getting press cause it's Lindsay Lohan. I doubt it will even happen... Not any time soon anyway. If there's no script written that alone can take years to get in place before they even begin to consider shooting it... She's 20 or something like that right now... Maybe if she puts it out there now that she wants to play her - then by the time she's 27 or 28 years old, the same age Stevie was when Rumours hit, maybe a script will have been written and all the other ducks are in a row and she'll be ready to go.

I think it is so funny that people cannot separate Lohan the person from Lohan the actress. Clearly, she is a good actress as judged by the public and her peers and higher (like Streep and Fonda who praised her acting ability) -- yet, her partying like any other girl that age prejudices people against her. I mean, with all due respect, and by her own admission, La Nicks likely partied WAY harder than Lohan at that age (if not older) and she slept with many a man, many of which were married  Yet, La Nicks does not get the same harsh judgment, assuming that Lohan is indeed a whore, which there is no actual proof of other than the circumstantial evidence of partying too hard  To be fair, Lohan the slut coke whore would appear to be type cast for the role

See, now you're confusing slut with whore! It's all about the way you carry yourself. Stevie just has more class. She just does! She does. She hasn't been a saint either but she never felt the need to share that with the world. We've never seen her get out of a car sans panties, for example. Even though she was doing a lot of things God probably didn't agree with, she never aired her dirty laundry for the sake of attention or publicity or whatever drives people like Lohan. I always found this bit that Lindsey said about Stevie interesting:
"Stevie sees herself as being defined within a certain set of boundaries, outside of which things probably don't ring true to her, or to the people who listen to what she does," Buckingham theorizes. "But at the same time, I think she's intrigued by the idea of pushing the envelope, especially on this album. She never wants to go too far with it, though. For example, I asked her to sing on the song 'Come' and she wouldn't. I think she thought it was dirty. That tells you something about someone who has been a rock icon but in some ways is still quite a conservative person. And I don't see her as someone who has lived her life very conservatively. So there's an interesting dichotomy there."

Who can say for sure - but they were biting when talking about her off set antics and the reviews for PHC were good if not great. So, maybe the proof's in the pudding
I have no dog in this fight. I just think calling LL talentless, etc., is seemingly based on her party girl personage alone because her reviews and her peers' comments indicate the contrary.
In the end, I think she could pull off the part of playing La Nicks. But, I doubt it will happen unless they throw a ton of $$ at Stevie, which they may do as actresses backed by great production, which she surely will get, tend to get Oscars for such parts - see Angela Bassett, Jessica Lang, Reese Witherspoon, and so on.

To be fair - the press was not as venomous in the 70's as it is now. I mean the RS reporters used to travel with the bands and just did not report on certain things as part of a general understanding. Now, it is all about catching someone at their worst moment and not showing the other 23.55 hours of the day.

I think Jodie Foster weighed in on the Lindsay thing too, if I'm not mistaken...
saying that she was glad the paparazzi wasn't as rabid as they are now...she was able to make the mistakes of youth in a more private manner - that hasn't been the case for Lindsay...who pretty much lives her life in the view of one camera or another.

Also, I don't agree that Stevie never aired her dirty laundry in public given all the details of her life we know about that she's given freely! Strandie is right, if the press was like it is today back in the 1970s, Stevie would have been in the gossip columns all the time and constantly photographed stumbling out of clubs with her various boyfriends (of which she's admits she's had plenty). I realise Stevie is special to many people here (she's special to me too) but to dismiss Lindsay Lohan purely on her behaviour, when Stevie has led probably an even wilder life, and say she has no talent, when clearly she has plenty, is clearly a flawed argument.

This will not happen. There is no way Lohan will get this project. Esepically with all her partying lately. Acting so unprofessional. Stevie's not going to want her name connected to all that bad press and sluty behaviour. Stevie was appalled when Britney kissed Madonna, so I can only imagine how she would feel about handing over her life story to fire crotch.
I agree with Johnny Stew, they need to cast a unknown actress that looks like her. I remember watching Joaquin Phoenix in Walk the Line, the whole time I'm thinking that's Joaquin "playing" Johnny Cash.
As far as what Strandie said, I agree that LaNicks did the same kind of partying and much worst, but it wasn't caught on tape and posted all over the net for the world to see and judge, plus she would have had her panties on

Also, I don't agree that Stevie never aired her dirty laundry in public given all the details of her life we know about that she's given freely! Not really. Most of the stuff that is considered 'out of the norm' came years after the fact and most of the time it got spilled by somebody else. The dirty laundry she airs these days is mostly stuff she thinks people can 'learn' from, like her cocaine/klonopin addiction. She said it herself, she won't write an autobiography until she's 90, because she doesn't want to hurt people. If you ask me, it has also largely to do with her not wanting her 'image' tainted. Like Lindsey said, she didn't really lead a conservative life, but is still conservative at heart. That, in my opinion, makes her a lot different from most of the other women in showbizz.
I agree that I don't think it's fair people get judged on it, but it's my right to say that I don't think Lohan is talented and she doesn't have enough of my respect that I would be willing to look past that and give her the benefit of the doubt. I fear she's just doing it for the wrong reasons.

It's not so much that Lindsey Lohan is so very wrong for the part - it's just that there's probably somebody better out there. Stevie impersonator NOT included.
I think Lohan is gorgeous and a very talented actress. And since hardly anybody ever looks like the person they play in a biopic, I don't think its unimagineable for her to play young Stevie as long as they can dye her cooch. C'mon a Stevie biopic will have to have LOTS of sex scenes and nudity. But, they would need really good make-up artists to make her look like Stevie over the age of 30.
AND whoever winds up with such a part, if one should come to exist, would HAVE to lipsynch everysong like Angela Basset did. Anybody who tries to sound like Stevie just sounds like they're making fun of her. Stevie impersonators included.

I respectfully disagree, as I think it was pretty well known even at the time that Stevie and the rest of the Mac were part of that debauched world of excess: all sex, drugs and rock and roll. She may not have spoken in detail about these things until later, but she was seen doing them.
I don't even like the Hohan that much, although I've never seen her in a film where she has stood out as being as terrible as everyone says (and I've seen all her films). I also think a movie about Stevie would probably be a mistake, but all the hypocrisy annoys me.

oh man - the fun
and the agony we'd have
but i do think there are actresses out there who would be much more DEDICATED in making it really ring true -
they are probably dying for a role like this -
i think lindsay only wants it to tag onto stevie's fame - which of course there is nothing wrong with wanting to get a meaty role but. . . .

but id hate to see this story told that way - (NO GREEN M&M"s EVER!!!!!)
and thats just how i think it would end up -
and just my opinion but i don't see the huge talent that others see in lindsay
- she gets a lot of publicity and that often is enough to draw people into the theatr ONCE- and thats what studios like and i think it is the gimmick that keeps her working instead of being put out for not being professional
- she is well known throughout america - not necessarily for her talent -

I think I'm going to bow out of the argument now, especially since I don't think this movie will ever be made.
They should make a movie about Peter Green though. I think that would be fascinating.
I know...do you hate yourself as much as I do for even getting involed in these arguments as much as you have
I think it's all for naught as well as the Hohan haters will remain so...
And yeah..I'm be very surprised if this project ever comes to fruition.

I didn't mean the wild, partying lifestyle, that was sort of a given, especially in that era. Nobody was questioning, nor surprised by those reports/sightings. I meant specific things like her relationships with married men, abortions, addictions...you know.
Damn, after saying I was gonna bow out...
But isn't that all we know about Hohan? That she parties too much with crappy people? Oh and she has a bad relationship with her dad. I'm not sure it's on the same level as abortions, using so many drugs you get a hole in your nose, having affairs with married men and marrying your dead best friend's husband. I know, I know these revelations came later! But Hohan's only young she still has time to do all these things too. :D

Stevie did almost all of these when she was in her 30's as I think she was like 28 when she joined FM - she just looked like a teenager.

Constantly. Discussing and debating is in my blood though and if I don't get a shot now and then I fear I might die.
Honestly, I don't think this project will come to fruition either, but maybe that's just wishful thinking... it's not really Lohan that's my biggest problem, the whole thing makes me nervous. I'd only want a story about Stevie's life if it came from Stevie herself, and even then the outcome could be questionable.

it keeps things going
:xoxo:
and im all for the greenie movie
who gets to play him in your mind??
I'm not sure, I'll have to think about it but don't you think those early years in the band were weird enough to make an absolutely fascinating movie? The whole Jeremy Spencer thing too. I think it could be good!

Yes! I just keep getting drawn back in! But I really doubt it will happen. It is funny though how the press has jumped on the story, but then there's been a Janis Joplin movie in the works for years and I think that's only happening now. I imagine a Stevie movie, if it does happen, will take quite a while to get going.

Oh I know..I remember in the early to mid 90s the talk was about Melissa Etheridge being in a Janis Joplin movie...never happened. Same for movies about Frida Kahlo...there was talk of that looong before it finally got off the ground...
So yeah...I'm sure this is not something that will coming out any time soon - and look at Lohan's pre-production schedule on IMDB...the girls packed full!

I just want to clarify:
Hohan is a hot chick. (that video for her stupid song "rumors" oh hell yeeah id hit it.) did it annoy the crap out of me that for three weeks whenever you typed Rumors into a searchengine that youd get hohan, and not fleetwood mac yes. I believe that the focous would NOT be on Stevie, and it would be made ALL ABOUT HOHAN. Stevie who? WOW HOHAN WAS AMAZING!!:distress: She is a talented actress in movies. but (her singing is dreadful and her "acting" in her videos especially "daughter to father" annoys me.) I just dont want her to play stevie nicks, not because no one will ever be good enough, but because there are plenty of others who would be more qualified for the part.
ALSO, can I seperate an actress from her real life persona? well, two of my favorite actresses are COURTNEY LOVE, AND SHANNEN DOHERTY. So Ill just let that speek for itself!!:p

I think it could be good! - oh man YES -- fleetwood mac wasn't only crazy/nuts when stevie and lindsey joined - but i am sure i would cast my vote for an unknown - as i have been saying - i think it is to hard for someone well known to play someone well known -
We also know what her crotch looks like.
they haven't made the smiley icon yet to describe my face when reading this.
kinda like milk accidently gettin lost on the way to the stomach and coming out your nose

always good to get the blood flowing -
and im with you on the no go on the project
i am assuming at the very least stevie and lindsey would have to sign off and SIGN AWAY the rights to their story -
just don't see that happening unless their fingers are in the pie somehow - and i am NOT talking about the PIE discussed above - :distress:

glad you didn't bow out -
but i personally have only been arguing that i don't think she is dedicated at this point in her life to give the storyline the attention that it would need .. .
and the dangers of well known playing well-known - i just don't think that comparing what the two of them have been through really gives her any more cred to play the part -
I think if there is interst by the studios in having her play this role - i think it is for the money alone - she is well known - no denying that - but that shouldn't be what brings the story to life
LMAO - vision of the baton twirling in the Tusk video - only it would be a fire baton!!!!!!!!!
and those clunky heels would be stilletos!!!!
I think it's all for naught as well as the Hohan haters will remain so...

i don't think everyone is hating on lohan deanna - at least me - im not hating - just not liking this Theory that is out there -
some are obviously hating her - and pretty funnily so in some cases i must admit - but most are just pointing out that we think we wouldn't like the end result.

There was a piece in a British newspaper today about Lindsay being the lead contender to play 'Fleetwod Mac's cocaine snuffler extraordinaire, Stevie Nicks.'
Clearly someone does want this story out in the press, most likely Lohan herself, rather like the actresses who tried to associate their names with the Evita role or the roles in Chicago etc. None of them got the roles in the end.
Most likely there's been some talk of a possible film because of the Rumours anniversary next year and Lindsay wants to get in there first should it ever happen.
Personally I can't see it happening any time soon. If it ever does, the script should be written by a fan but someone who can also be objective. Only then might it be any good.
I've said before on this forum any film about Stevie would have to be centred around her relationship with LB for the audience to care and have any emotional investment in the story. There is a great story there, with all the elements that would make an engaging film if it was done well.
Drugs and casual sex is hardly new in the rock world and concentrating on that would ensure the film sank without a trace.
As for who could play them:
I recently saw some pictures of Sienna Miller and Jude Law with dark hair - Rumours era Stevie and Tusk era Lindsey to a tee.

Yes, we get it already. Stevie had a cocaine problem. Now, would the gossip sluts of the world just get over it already?

Lindsay has started out so early into her career with the partying and promiscuity and feuds, that her personal life is 99% more likely to be dicussed than any of the acting she's done. She hasn't yet built up a body of work that can balance that stuff out.
Maybe she's hoping to turn that around though.
