no no, don't get me wrong. I know and I'm glad. (actually, I'm not too far from FL)

I was just saying it's weird that the only concerts announced are either FL or Hawaii.

Not so random, actually. A reader asked Keith Caulfield why so many acts start their tours in Florida...

STARTING AT SUNRISE
Hello Keith,

Why do so many U.S. tours (like Rod Stewart's 2007 tour) begin in Sunrise, Fla.?

Gideon Mark
New York

Hello Gideon,

That's a fun question. I asked our touring editor, Ray Waddell, about this, and here is his response.

"A lot of fall and winter tours start in Florida (Lakeland is another example) because acts like to rehearse down there, the weather is nice and you can route in any direction. Tours typically take a route east to west or west to east."

Stewart's tour begins on Jan. 12 at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Fla. (which is right next door to Ft. Lauderdale.) The tour then travels to U.S. cities in the south east, then up the east coast, then to Canada and over to the West coast. From there he works his way down the coastline before heading to the south west and mid-west before finishing up in Milwaukee, Wis. on April 27.

Not even close. I think I paid well over $100 for the Concord show.

Let's get some CA shows announced, please. We have nice weather also.

She charges that much because of all of your Silly Valley money.

I wanted to know, comparing apples to apples, at the same venue, whether tickets were more or less. These are, like, Street Angel era prices!

Anybody know when her last Washington State show was? Sorrry for the off-topicness of it but it seems like she's never up here!

The show is on Ticketmaster now. It also indicates that it is part of the Florida State Fair.

I have to say it again, another show going on sale with nothing on the official website is insane.

I agree greatdarkwing this venue sucks ....but at least we will have real entertainment at the fair this year, last year the headliner was Lee Greenwood....

Oh no! Why does she always have to play at the redneck Ford Amp? Does anyone remember how many mullets we counted at that place last summer? It was a high figure, if memory serves correct...

Oh well, at least February in Florida is guaranteed great weather. The worst part about the Ford Amp last year was that is was raining and muddy and humid. Hopefully we can count on a beautiful 65 degrees night this winter.

No, it was Gold Dust Tour. I think it was over $100, but maybe $95.

Center or side?

diamondsnake
12-01-2006, 10:22 AM
Side, but towards the center. I think they are the last two seats towards the stage on the lefthand side. I almost threw them back, but now I am glad I didn't.

We still have Orlando to worry about, so maybe there will be really good tickets for that one? We shall see. I live in Orlando, so I am going to make it my mission to get great seats for that show. The Hollywood show has seemed useless. Half the time they say that the show is sold out, and half the time only the nose bleed tickets pop up. Have you had any luck with Hollywood?

BTW, Ticketmaster would have been more helpful today if I dont have to try 4 times to type in their new words!!

A good friend of mine at Hard Rock says the show isnt gonna happen in Orlando at their venue, nor will it happen at the HOB. Sounds to me shes gonna just do Tampa, and Hollywood now.....:distress:

diamondsnake
12-01-2006, 11:01 PM
Well there are other venues in Orlando. Most popular artists perform at the TD Waterhouse which is a huge arena.

I hope she performs in Orlando. I want to really be over-the-top with that show and get the best tickets possible and (cheesy as it sounds) a limo, since parking downtown is a nightmare!

GavinBrown
12-02-2006, 10:07 PM
I think shes trying to skip the bigger venues, so TD Waterhouse wouldnt work.
