I was thinking about going to that show back in June, but I was going to see Blondie that night instead. Of course, it was canceled.

Harbor Yard is ok. It's a little echoey, but its nothing that'll ruin the show for you. The Mac were great there.

Same here. Speaking for myself, I just don't care for her. She was interesting back in the '80's when I was in college and she was new, but she thinks she is "all that" anymore.... sorry, not so much.
I turned it over during the disco part and it was yawns all around. :sorry:

I'm always reminded of Sandra Bernhardt's story about the apocalypse... and among the few survivors one of them is MADONNA!!

WOW!!!!!!!

She was impressive and she makes me feel guilty for NOT exercising everyday.

She HAD it in 1985 when I first saw her video and she STILL has it.

I understand the message, Madonna. Glad I am not narrow-minded and the cross nor the crown of thorns did not bother me at all. You had something to say to the world.

I tried to watch but it made me feel sea sick. She's such a hoe. Her equestrian theme is embarrassing and all those horse's falling down in the Steeplechase on the background screen was horrifying! I couldn't watch. I'm an equestrian and I thought that was in very poor taste. Sorry to bring up the Dixie Chicks again, but after seeing them perform, not only do they play a kazillion instruments, write their own songs, and have beautiful voices, they're a hard act to follow. Madonna totally depends on a huge stage production because she can't sing. I guess that's why she humps everything  When she came out with that guitar and pretended to play it, I thought, this is pathetic and turned to "Show Me the Money" with Captin Kirk and the Dancers. Has anyone seen this game show? It's hilarious!

They also cut out the sound at one point, but I could clearly lip-read "George Bush sucks."

The show was just OK for me. I liked the musical arrangements for the most part. But the stage props were just weird. And not good weird. Except for the Transformer disco ball in the beginning - that thing was amazing.

The Girlie Show is still my fave. She's definitely a guilty pleasure.

EXACTLY why I can't take Madonna or Streisand.
I could not truly care less what their political views are... it's just obnoxious when they feel they must use their "shows" as a platform.
If you don't like what's going on... get off the frickin' stage and DO something!
And stop complaining about "others" that only supposedly take advantage of the less fortunate when you're charging out the wazoo for tickets and other "stuff". You're flying around on these overpriced tours on personal jets with obnoxious motorcades and make ridiculous demands of people wherever you go.
.... and then dare to claim yourself as "one of us".

Sorry... these kind of people just get old after awhile. :distress:
As they say, if you're not part of the solution then you're part of the problem.
These ladies have so much to offer should they opt to use their platform constructively. Instead, they name-call and divide.... and then tell the rest of us how we all need to just get along.
I would not expect them to understand, tho. :distress:

I used to love Madonna, and actually still kind of like her. I have always wanted to see her perform, but never have. I have to say that after watching the show on TV, I'm probably never going to. I'm not into all the theatrics, etc. Plus, wasn't she lipsynching? And she doesn't play many of her older songs any more (which I'm sure her diehard fans are thrilled about) so it just wouldn't be there for me. I don't hate her- I'm just not into that kind of a show.

The horses wiping out on the big screen was pretty disturbing- what was that all about.

The horses wiping out on the big screen was pretty disturbing- what was that all about. I didn't see that part. I wasn't 100% focused on the tv. Of course, a lot of the special effects were post production...other than the dropback and stagelighting...everything else was post. I would think. Those 3-D shows at amusement parks are pretty cool - everything and the kitchen sink flying at your face. They should issue little glasses at concerts so we can all sit there and be blown. I imagine Lindsey's guitar rightthere...that would be something else!

Madonna's been on her high horse (pardon the pun) lately about her recent love for horses and riding (remember how she broke her collar bone, falling off), well the steeplechasing scene's in the bakeground were to go along with her equestrian theme, the riding outfit, top hat, whip and the saddle on the pole. Gross.

I like Madonna, but her ego & personality is severely overblown and annoying.I've never been a fan of her personality -- unlike Stevie, who I'm a fan of on both a personal and musical level.

Mind you, Madonna's done some great charitible work, and I applaud her for that -- she just seems to have such a cold, calculating side.
But I love her music, so I focus only on that.

Johnny Stew
11-25-2006, 03:49 PM
By the way, I noticed a few Ledgies commenting on the footage of horses tripping, etc., and I meant to comment on that.
In case anyone's forgotten, Madonna was thrown from a horse shortly before the release of 'Confessions On A Dancefloor' in 2005, and broke several bones. The footage of the horses (and, for eagle-eyed viewers, footage of x-rays of broken bones) was a wink and a nod to her accident.

But I love her music, so I focus only on that.

I've always wondered about her music versus her writing skills. 9 times out of 10, she's listed as the main writer of her songs. To me, she doesn't seem like an artist who has the capability of writing lyrics and melodies. How much writing does she really do? We have never seen her working on lyrics or anything.

To me, she doesn't seem like an artist who has the capability of writing lyrics and melodies. How much writing does she really do? We have never seen her working on lyrics or anything. :shrug:Despite rumours to the contrary, past collaborators like Stephen Bray, Shep Pettibone and Patrick Leonard have all sworn that Madonna definitely writes her own lyrics, and that she's a talented, intuitive songwriter.

Kind of like the relationship between Stevie and some of her co-writers, these guys have said that they usually brought an instrumental track (or the beginnings of one) to Madonna and she then wrote the lyrics... usually also offering additional ideas for the melody, structure, etc.
I imagine it's the same type of working relationship she has with more recent collaborators, like William Orbit, Mirwais and Stuart Price.

She has written several songs completely solo though... mostly early hits like "Burning Up," "Lucky Star," "Everybody" and "Gambler." After that, she started co-writing more and more, probably realizing the limitations of her own musical abilities (again, kind of like Stevie).

Then in other cases, she's taken a song written by someone else and re-worked the lyrics to fit her ("Open Your Heart," "Papa Don't Preach," "Justify My Love," "Ray Of Light," "Nothing Fails"), ultimately sharing songwriting credit with the original writer(s).

speaking of Madonna...I have 2 requests:

1) does anyone have any of the Confessions concerts in mp3?

2) does anyone have the "Live To Tell" that was the B-side to "You'll See"?
