My stepdad is an UNBELIEVEABLE COOK so among other things we'el be dining on Asparagus with Hollandaise sauce, The best damn turkey ever, and Bananas foster for dessert along with pumpkin pie. MMMMM Like I need to eat anymore, but oh well, F**K it, at least for one day.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone :wavey:
I have to work (for the third year in a row) and so I'm not going anywhere or seeing any family. I'll probably pick up a turkey dinner at Cracker Barrel on my way to work - I cooked my own small one last year, but it was too much trouble...and a co-worker says the CB has a good offering for Thanksgiving...so that's what I'm doing.
Christmas is my big holiday - Thanksgiving I don't care as much about although it would be nice to have the freakin' day off...it's around the holidays I start thinking of getting into another line of work

Happy Thanksgiving to all...
I plan to sit here and listen to my collection of Queen music the next day or so (Deb has to work 7P-7A so no trip for us), as my way to celebrate Thanksgiving and the life of Freddie Mercury.
Thanksgiving has really lost its luster to me without having a parent or grandparent alive to celebrate it with.

Thanksgiving has really lost its luster to me without having a parent or grandparent alive to celebrate it with.
It can also be a hard day for people who have lost loved ones. So I'll be thinking of you.
I personally love Thanksgiving, as it is about family and food and no pressure around gifts. Corny, but I try to spend a little time thinking about what have to be thankful for.
My dad grills a hell of a turkey and my mom is the best cook on the planet, so I will be quite satisfied. Plus lots of wonderful wine pairings. That combined with my gluttonish eating in Boston last week is setting my marathon training way back. :distress:

HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all you fantabulous Ledgies!! :wavey:
I love Thanksgiving but mostly for the spiritual significance to me... almost more of a "New Years" in that it's a time to check my own personal gratitude and count my blessings.
I tend to save the family get-together for Christmas since everyone else lives in other states. I have an awesome cat and dog, tho.... MY family!!
I love that Cracker Barrel idea.... mmmmmmmmmm!!!!! :woohoo:

 I do the same thing around this time of year, then feel a bit sad because I don't appreciate fully what I have year-round. Thanksgiving starts a time of reflection for me - and well as a time of restructuring.
And since all of my family is in another state, I also save the family time for Christmas...but do have my moo, Clancy. She's getting a special treat in her dog food tomorrow...otherwise she'll sit with her nose in my face as I eat my turkey

HAPPY THANKSGIVING, EVERYONE!! :xoxo:
Tonight, most of my "boyfriends" will come over for the Madonna concert on NBC -- we'll order pizza, drink a lot of wine and have fun. I'm thankful that I have these men in my life -- they keep me happy and full of life!
Tomorrow, I'll go to my parents house where my brother and sister and their families will all be, including my four neices and one nephew. Delicious food and lot's of laughter. We are all healthy and have much to be thankful for.
Enjoy, everyone!!

I love mine, too! Gracie usually takes her time and looks over any treats.... just incase. ;)
I also love my cat... Kathy. She's the one more apt to want to share my plate or just reach over and grab the fork. We lost her sister a few months ago so she is spoiled rotten.

have you seen Mary's modified food pyramid? Beer is in the bread group.
A six pack gives you the day's requirement  Therefore, drinking a beer is the equivalent of eating. Nuff said.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
I'm going to grandma's. I'm thankful I don't have to host the dinner this year! I've done it the past 2 years. All I have to do is wash and cut veggies for my veggie tray, and show up at 2:00. I hope to leave by 5:00. Sara will stay with mom and dad tomorrow night, and I have to go and get Sam so we can go shopping Friday morning.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! Sweet potatoes are boiling as I type...making my famous casserole to bring over to a friend's house. I'm also bringing a bottle of merlot, a bottle of pinot grigio, a bottle of vodka and some cranberry juice. We'll be frying the turkey.

Ive always wanted to fry a Turkey but dont have the means. The meat is so moist tho, its YUMMY!
Actually, Im doing a variation on the 2hr Safeway method which requires that you elevate the Turkey on a "V" shaped rack. it shaves a lot of time off that way. and you cant stuff the bird so the stuffing isnt all greasy. I am taking longer than the 2 hrs, I turned down the heat a bit....

^^
My mom always used to buy a Thanksgiving bundle thing from the store -they do most of the cooking for you - but you still have to pop the bird in a bit. My doesn't cook
As for frying - I've never had fried turkey...we were going to have a turkey fry at work (when I was in NY) but the week we were going to do it the main fryer's wife (who also worked there and was the co-fryer) ended up in the hospital :( so I've still not had the stuff to this day.

Yes, we have Thanksgiving as well. Our's is in October (the 9th). But ours is not nearly as big a deal as the U.S. I mean, they celebrate like it was Christmas or something. They celebrate all week long
