I love the tv threads that take on a life of their own. :wavey:
I was all ready to watch my nightly 25+ yr old rerun of "Charlie's Angels" tonight when SUDDENLY my new nightly viewing habit has been exchanged for reruns of "Growing Pains"!! WTF!!
Growing Pains?? WHY was that show so popular and on as long as it was?
Was it like part of the "Diff'rent Strokes", "Facts of Life" trilogy or something??
And WHY does everybody know who was on Saved By The Bell? :woohoo:

How was it different? It wasn't lol...
I was watching reruns of Full House at the gym this morning (someone else put it on) and wondered the same thing, "how the hell was this show popular!?!" I used to watch it, now I can't figure out why - it's SO bad

WTF!! :shrug:Don't worry... the i Network is just doing a two-week "teaser preview" of 'Growing Pains,' which will become a regular part of their daily lineup sometime in early 2007.
'Charlie's Angels' will be back in its regular timeslot on December 4th.
In the meantime, there's a 5-hour 'Angels' marathon this Friday, November 24th, from 6pm (EST) to 11pm.

Haha, it's not appeal, it's his grossness that is funny. But they really dumbed down that show too so it is now mostly sexual and potty humor. Which is funny but LCD (lowest common denominator).

That's the funny thing - I used to totally watch most of these!! With the exception of Family Matters and Martin which I hated. But other than that? ITA.... last night I caught myself actually watching a rerun of Growing Pains! Suffice it to say, there was NOTHING else on. ;)
It was also the episode with Dana Plato doing the "Madonna" character trying to seduce Mike. Let's see.... years later he's "born again" and she's been dead for years. yikes.....
For some reason, I also found her "Madonna-wannabee" MUCH more entertaining than that debacle NBC was showing. I'm sure Madonna fans loved it but ......

Your intuition astounds me.
They can't put them out because of the music copyrights. SCTV had the same problem, actually... They used a bunch of music and didn't bother getting the rights at the time, so they had to change/cut things when they finally got around to putting out the DVDs. They'd have a really hard time doing that with WKRP.

well you know what Jewel says. "follow your heaaaaart, your intuiiiSHIONN *sexy video scenes*"

There was way too much time spent hating on Martin in this thread. No one (but me) thought it was funny? Damn I feel trashy.
As for sitcoms that had NO business being on the air/popular:
Who's the Boss
Growing Pains
A Different World
Blossom
Mad About YouWord. Well, except for Mad About You. Zet's a cute show.
I never understood Who's the Boss. Why was everyone so anxious to get Tony and whatsherface to sleep together? They were both totally ugly and uninteresting. It was like watching your parents 'getting it on'.
