I was searching on amazon to see if there was a possible update on the status of Stevie's Best Of album which was "released" November 7th. Of coarse, the site didn't change anything, but a discussion is going on about the album if you scroll down the page, and yesterday, a amazon user posted this in the discussion..."I tried to order this cd and it came up as available January 19, 2007."...interesting, because Stevie is kicking off her tour Feb. 6th. Any thoughts?

Ugh...I'm still perplexed as to why people want her to re-release songs that everyone already has

I could honestly care less about the disc and most likely won't buy it unless it has something on it that I don't already have.

Its a hell of a lot better than releasing nothing like the Gold Dust Tour. At least if she releases this, I think, we have a better chance of getting different songs in the set list. Thats not a bad list of songs either. Long Way to Go, The Nightmare, and Crying in the Night are cool choices for a best of. I Can't Wait, Rooms on Fire, and Talk to me are being acknowledged. And Personally, I would listen to this in the car. Its like having a favorite playlist. Id like to listen to Rooms on Fire then Maybe love, Blue Denim, and If you ever did believe.

If shes not going to release a new cd (which I doubt she is), then I think this is the next best thing!

I don't agree...but eh - we all feel differently.

You do make a good point about the possibility of her putting new songs into the set list...I hope that truly happens and is the case.

I know this will sell and some of y'all are excited about it - I'm just not one of those people

There was a lot of doubt that the track listing was not authentic, was it ever confirmed that the songs you mentioned were the real deal?

I know what you are saying about listening to different songs in different order, but that's why I burn my own compilations. I really don't need to pay the record company to take songs I already have and shuffle them around a little when I can do it myself. I have to agree with Deanna that really, unless there is something new, or maybe even a better quality demo that I already have officially released, I'll pass this one up.

Wasn't confirmed, but it would be a cool list to release. Ive never heard of some of those mixes and I don't have Crying in the Night on CD. I have no problem spending $$ on an artist I want to support.

I think if she went out again like GD tour we would get close to that exact set list. And I am very sick of Circle Dance (Already you might ask? YES), HAEWAFY, and her new crappy BS version of Fall From Grace. If anyone thinks she rocked on that song on this tour you are dellusional, she stood there and BSed the vocal that makes the song.

That's what I do as well - I've got several Stevie compilations that I would prefer to the set-list I've seen thus far...

I think it'll be nice to finally... after nearly six years... have a "new" Stevie album to buy. Even if it is just a "best of."
My hope is that, if it doesn't contain any NEW songs, that it'll at least feature some of the 7" single mixes/edits. And if it's a Rhino release, it's highly likely we will get some of those (just as we did with 'The Very Best of Fleetwood Mac').

Like I said before, some fans will probably pass on this, but it's nice to at least have the choice.

I completely agree. Too bad it wasn't being released before Christmas, I would totally buy this for people for the holiday season.

I have my doubts about that track list to be honest. To call it a "best of" and include those songs really doesn't make much sense from a commercial stand point. I have no problem spending money on an artist I enjoy either, but buying the same songs I already own I think goes beyond that. I wouldn't buy the same DVD I already owned if the movie didn't have any alternate features not included in the previous release. If I did, I would basically just be paying for a new box. Speaking of that, am I the only one who thinks all these SE DVD's are getting ridiculous? How many versions of Lord of the Rings are there? It seems like a new "ultimate edition" of some of these films comes out every year!

I have my doubts about that track list to be honest. The track listing that was previously posted is totally bogus and shouldn't be given one iota of credence.

I think it'll be nice to finally... after nearly six years... have a "new" Stevie album to buy. perhaps you're an eternal optimist but I'd describe the feeling as somewhere between moderately depressing and despondent.I just really want to know what happened between 'already writing songs for a new album" in November of 2004 to 'why bother to make a new album at all' in early 2006.

Maybe somewhere in between.

Besides, I'm still not entirely convinced that she's not purposely stalling for some reason (perhaps hoping that Warner Bros will drop her from her contract, so she doesn't have to buy herself out of it).

http://www.livedaily.com/news/Stevie_Nicks_brings_music_to_wounded_soldiers-11074.html?t=98

Stevie Nicks is taking a break from the touring circuit at the moment, but she's keeping busy with her Soldier's Angel Foundation, which aims to lift the spirits of wounded US soldiers through music.

The singer was in Hollywood earlier this month for rock photographer Neal Preston's first-ever West Coast photo exhibit, after which proceeds totaling $25,000 were donated to the Soldier's Angel Foundation, organizers announced.

Others who reportedly came out to support the cause were Neil Diamond, Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart, the Red Hot Chili Peppers' Anthony Kiedis and director Cameron Crowe.

The foundation, which Nicks started this year, provides iPods to service personnel who have been maimed or wounded in battle. The singer told NMC that she fills the iPods with her favorite songs and then delivers them to the soldiers.

According to a spokesperson for Nicks, the performer will issue a greatest hits album next spring. Any further plans will be announced early next year.
Nicks' last solo album, "Trouble in Shangri-La," was released in 2001. Her latest with Fleetwood Mac, "Say You Will," came out in 2003 and was followed by an extensive world tour and two DVD releases.

Nicks, who currently has only two shows scheduled in the coming months (shown below), toured Australia and New Zealand this year and tagged along on several dates with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

Any further plans will be announced early next year.If Stevie's going to do some touring to promote this, hopefully that means there may be one or two new tracks on it after all... as opposed to it simply being something that the record company has thrown together.

Hopefully those potential "further plans" will include a new studio album.

Hell, I'd be thrilled with a live recording of "Circle Dance." Or even "Rock And Roll."

I read "further plans" as the tour. Which means the mgmt company is gonna wait to post tour info on the Fix until then, after all the tickets are already on sale.

I'm hoping for a Rhino dualdisc hits set with all (and I mean ALL) the videos.

I agree..... As much as I love my Stevie (yeah I know, clown on me for saying that if you will) I can't see myself buying a c.d of songs that I already have 3 copies of. Now, if there are new songs on it, that is a different matter, and if this c.d spawns a long solo tour, then I am ALLLL for it....

Much Love,
Ethan

This is interesting, because back in September when Nodmod posted a link to Mark Needham's site (in this thread (http://ledge.fleetwoodmac.net/showthread.php?t=28814&highlight=Needham)), one of the projects it listed him as working on was "Stevie Nicks - Live at the Montreux Jazz Festival."

Perhaps something from that performance ("Woodstock," "Rock And Roll," "Stand Back," "Dreams") is going to be included on the 'best of'? After all, any of her classic hits that would be included on the compilation are already mixed/engineered, and I doubt they'd go the remixed Ã* la 'Timespace' route again.

THats what I was thinking. Why would those songs need to be "engeneered and mixed"? THeres gotta be somehing else too it. I hope this is not just whishful thinking.
