Cool! Funny how people rarely pay heed to a critics review of it, and go buy the record. And then, when they come out with these 'top' lists that are actually right on (hey LB is on it!), people SURE as hell dont pay any mind! haha

Isn't it a little early for an official Best of 2006 list? Now Stevie's "Best Of" can't be listed.
Happy for LB, though.
Where is Jessi Colter?

13) Lindsey Buckingham – "Under The Skin""
WOW!
Let's be fair, this is a very unexpected listing and I'm really    about this. This is not a fanlisting of some blog, but a BIG name in the european musicmagazineworld. It's just friggin' unbelievable this album is picked up on a big scale and got very good reception in the musicpress.
Welcome back Sharon!!!!:woohoo:
Actually, "Uncut" magazine gave UTS a brilliant review. 5 stars. I was looking through the reviews while at the coffee shop and the 5 little red stars just popped out at me...mainly because they didn't seem to have that many other glowing reviews. I completely agreed with their assessment as well...
Oh, and the Scissor Sisters' album is totally awesome fun. I highly recommend it for the dandy in anyone. I dig it.

Me too. I like the album and some of the lyrics are funny gross too. But it has ofcourse no depth like lindsey's.
Could anyone post the Uncut review?

I'll try and post it tomorrow for you Gerald, it's a very positive review.
Uncut is easily my favourite music magazine, so for them to include Lindsey is a thrill for me.
I like Lambchop and Gnarls Barkley personally, I think they both deserve to be there myself.
I have the following albums on the list, but I have to say my order would be completely different to Uncut's (also I haven't heard Bob's Modern Times yet I'm ashamed to say! :o ) And I find The Raconteurs and The Arctic Monkeys a bit blah so they wouldn't be on my list at all.

Well, I've got few of them. I miss Primal Scream and M. Ward. And CERTAINLY Cracker's Greenland
I was blown away by Dylan at first listen, but after a few weeks he's starting to bore the crap out of me.

AMAZING album. Almost as good as under the skin, not quite though.

HA! Yeah. I have little taste. I have quite the eclectic music background if I do say so. (so I've been told anyway...) I just know whats crap, and Scissor Sisters are among that elite.

Well you may have a truckload of taste, but if you can't enjoy musical humour, maybe it's wit you lack.

this list would suck if everybody liked every album on it. i don't like people bossing people around about what sucks and what doesn't.
you can't just... DECIDE. for anyone but yourself.
sheesh.

That is a very ignorant and self-opinionated statement..

Exactly...that's what Scissor Sisters are all about!

Well I'm a musician. I have an extensive music collection...I worked in a record store. I've been called a "humble music snob"--the 1st of its kind! HAHA...Ignorant? Not really. Maybe overly self-opinionated. But so is everyone else here on the Ledge. *wink*

Very true.. :-)
But I'm also a musican and I also have an extensive music collection. So that cancels out you're first two strikes.. Though I must admit I've never worked in a record store. Even though my local one should start paying me with all the time I spend in there..
Anyways...with all my qualifications as a musician, I can't help shaking my ass to 'I Don't Feel Like Dancing'. It makes me happy, and I ain't that what music is for sometimes..?

hmmm guitarist huh? always lying 'bout the size of their ducks. why would you strike such a huge thing alday if you really had the real thing?
No I'm normal sized, I'm not a musician-thank god, and own a lot of music. Not to know better than others, but because i'm a passionate listener.
See? I lied about my size too. understated.:D

well this is goin'to be gross. you have too much to prove, that's clear and says enough for me...again. In this case you sound a little too dumb to hang under a horse.:D
back to topic, it is quite exceptional that a no-selling american record hits so high on a yearlist of a serious UK-music mag. I hope Lindsey will celebrate that with a londongig in january-february.

I thought half the fun of these lists was arguing over what's on it and what's not?
And Gerald I agree, I would have liked to see M Ward on there too, but it's lovely to see Lindsey and Midlake so high on the list.
Edit: the album also got a fantastic review in Mojo (but only three stars in Q - boo!) so perhaps it will give Lindsey a little push to come over here and play a date or two. I hope so.
