That's right Lediges, yet another food thread.
I try to frequent local establishments often, but I don't mind eating out at a chain restaurant once in a while. The food's usually good, but it's also usually more expensive, processed, salted & unhealthy. JMO. That being said, I enjoy food from:
Red Lobster (it's those damned cheddar biscuits!)
Olive Garden (it's that damned salad & breadsticks!)
Chili's
Smokey Bones BBQ
TGI Friday's
Roadhouse/Texas Roadhouse
IHOP (breakfast only)
I do NOT enjoy food from the following. At one point, I've gotten either crappy food or crappy service, or a combination of both, from all of these places. Crappy enough that I will not eat there again:
Applebees
Ruby Tuesday's
Bob Evans
Swiss Chalet
OUtback Steakhouse
Perkins (they gave me bloody chicken)
Denny's (used to love it, but all that grease on the plate is just too much these days.)

The only chain restaurants I eat at are Chilli's and Macaroni Grill...that Bob Evans place just looks so shady:laugh:

Smokey Bones in Atlanta, GA have the BEST waitresses. We were there last summer and my hubby loves BBQ so we stopped at this restaurant several times while travelling. All the waitresses thought WE had the cutest accents and we live in the Pacific Northwest:lol:  They also have great food:woohoo:

i dont normally eat a meal there. Italian is too heavy except spaghetti and i only eat that at home. Its the salad. I still like the breadsticks but they have gone downhill. I love fazolis too.

For dinner:
Ruth's Chris Steakhouse -- hands down, my favorite steak place
PF Changs -- chinese dream food...I'm a huge fan...never turn it down
J Alexanders -- love their bar...a sunday ritual for me at least twice a month
Fast food chains:
Bill Millers Bar-B-Que -- the chicken delight salad is a staple
Jack In The Box -- their iced tea is as everday as my vitamins
Livia and I recently had a FABULOUS capri salad at Johnny Carino's and it was out of this world, so I would go back for that...:wavey:
I wouldnt be caught dead in a Red Lobster or Olive Garden.

I have been there twice and thought it was total salt overload. Must be the endless bread and salad thing. Same with Cheesecake Factory on salt and amount of food. CF also has enormous oily portions, and people love that. Both those places ought to have a vomitorium, it is gorge central. They both remind me of feeding troughs.
I will eat at Chili's, PF Chang, California Pizza Kitchen, and an occasional Roadhouse.

I forgot about Red Robin. We just got our first one here a few months ago - very tasty burgers.
Anyone have a Max's near them? They're usually attached to a Holiday Inn. Surprisingly great food.
We have yet to get a PF Chang, Macaroni Grill, Chick-Fil-A, Bonefish Grill. In a few months, they're opening a Famous Dave's BBQ, and rumour has it a Cheesecake Factory is going into the new addition at the galleria.
As far as fast food type chains, I don't routinely go to any anymore. I do love Wendy's & McD's (grew up on it, can't break the habit completely.) BK is alright, and we don't have White Castle or Sonic or Jack In The Box here.
I still love me some KFC, but the one near my house sucks so I haven't had it in years. I refuse to get chain pizza unless I'm travelling, our neighborhood places are just so much better. Pizza Hut if I have to, but I hate Domino's.

I went to one in Austin one time. OMG, the glaze! I managed to eat one donut and half of a second one before I was ready to throw up and we had to leave. There was so much sugar in those things, I'm surprised I didn't try to kill the mayor or something. People feed this **** to their children and then scratch their heads when they take guns to school and shoot up their classmates!? The mind boggles...

I went to a Soup Plantation when I was in Cali. It was really good, I wish there was one up here.
I'm very much over Krispy Kreme - we only had 2 in town, and they've opened over the last 3 or 4 years. Actually, one of them just closed. Dunkin used to be all over the place, then we were down to 1. But they just opened up a new one near the university. I much prefer Tim Horton's over any of the others, but there aren't any outside of Canada & NY (I don't think.)
Subs? Subway all the way. Quizno's is way overpriced & not very good. Wegman's (our "upscale" grocery store) makes the best subs.
Buffets? Used to love Ponderosa as a kid, but I haven't been there in years. Country Buffet is appalling, the food is so unhealthy & salted, yet so flavorless & bland. I don't want to waste my calories & money there.

Texas Roadhouse, hands down the best chain restaurant because:
They make their rolls fresh and put cinnamon butter on them.
Their house salad comes with egg and cheese on it. Plus the croutons are made on the premesis.
You can get a mouth watering fillet for $15! With 2 sides! The prices are amazing because they have their own cows.
The atmosphere is fun and I've come to be able to pleasantly tolerate country music and some of it I really like. (Ducks falling sky)
Last but not least, they have fantastic margaritas.

I hate peanuts, Mainly because this is peanut season and as the crops are brought in here in 'Hellhole' the peanut dust is clouding the sky and making my asthmatic wife short of breath (It affects me too, but Deb is worse.)
No, they dont have a call-ahead service at the OKC locations (We called about that awhile back), it's just we are never near one at around 4PM when they open.
But there is hope, since a newer location off I-40 seems less packed in the evening than all the other locations (We're planning to hit it on the next trip to 'the City')

Ok, so if a local place has two locations, can we call it a "chain"?
If so, then "Tom's Place"...it is one of those "middle ground" places...it is a great "sit down" place (with an awesome salad bar) AND it has a drive-thru, too. Two SoCal locations...one in Anaheim, one in Placentia...both close to my house. They market themselves as "Gourmet Fast Food".
And, a "local" pizzaria chain with 5 Orange County locations...Zito's Pizza. Once I found them, my search for the "Holy Grail" of pizzas ended. BUT, not all locations have the stationary ovens...a couple of them have those idiotic "conveyor ovens". How Pizza Hut of them!
Faves (in no order, starting with the fast-food ones):
Del Taco
Taco Bell
Rubio's
Baja Fresh
Quizno's
Arby's
The Green Burrito
Chipotle
Panda Express
Baskin/Robbins
Dairy Queen
KFC
Jack-In-The-Box
In-N-Out Burger
Original Tommy's
Fatburger
Wendy's
and, in extremely rare cases (I'm trying to wean myself off of them; but sometimes, they're just too f***ing convenient):
McDonald's
Burger King
Carl's Jr.
(now onto the "sit downs")
Todai (AWESOME Japanese/Sushi buffet!)
Claim Jumper
Chili's (well...DUH!!!!)
PF Chang's
Outback
California Pizza Kitchen
Islands
Johnny Reb's (this may be considered "Local", but they have 4 locations...it's one of those "p-nut shell on the floor" Southern-style cuisine)
Daphne's Greek Cuisine
Stuart Anderson's Black Angus
Applebee's
Red Robin
Olive Garden
Hometown Buffet (I love buffets...way too much)
VERY, VERY rare occasions:
Red Lobster (usually, we prefer to frequent local seafood restaurants)
Denny's
Norm's
Spires
Brian, there's a Fazoli's near my house, but I've yet to try it. Thanks for the recommendation.

I've never hear of Texas Roadhouse. I don't think we have one in Dallas. Sounds pretty good though. My partner works for TGIFriday's corporate offices and we can eat there for half price anytime. I love the Jack Daniel's items. Other than that it gets old.
Probably my favorite chain restaurant is the Macaroni Grille because of that delicious loaf of bread they give you with olive oil. Mouth-watering!! I could eat that all day.
Favorite fast-food is probably Taco Bell because it's cheap, tasty and makes real Mexican food seem healthy. Sometimes I actually start jonesing for a crispy taco with stringy lettuce and cheese that falls apart after a single bite. And the bean burrito is surprisingly delicous and goes down easily despite the way it looks.

Fazoli's is great. Their 6 layer lasagna is great, as is the turkey panini sandwich & the classic platter.
Another restaurant that opened recently in the OKC metro, it "Steaks & Shakes", which my sister (A CA resident) recommended, so we ate there. Great old-fashioned burgers & fries in a retro setting. I'm not much of a desert person, but their milk-shakes are pretty damned good. (We just noticed another one has opened in Midwest City after driving my sister to the airport last Saturday for her trip home.)

Isn't it always? Papa Johns wouldn't be what it is without the garlic dipping sauce. Chick-Fil-A wouldn't be the same without the Polynesian Sauce.

Texas Roadhouse
Cheesecake Factory
TGI Fridays
Buffalo Wild Wings (OMG, their wings are to die for)
Longhorn Steakhouse
Charlstons
Union Jack Pizza
Fast food:
Wendys
Panera Bread
Chicago's Pizza
McD's (gotta be in a mood for it though)

Speaking of sauces, Texas Roadhouse Snake Bites with their horseradish dipping sauce. Damn good! The Snake Bites are cheese and chopped jalapenos breaded and deep fried. With that sauce they are one of the tastiest apps ever.

I go to the Olive Garden in Framingham, Mass. The Mrs. prefers Macaroni Grill.
For steaks, I like the upscale chains like Ruth's Chris and Capital Grill.

They have this chick pea/pesto spread for their wonderful, dense bread. To die for. I met the owner and he said he found that spread while in Italy in some restaurant in a mountainside cave. That sounds crazy but that's what he said! Nice guy. The service is incredible, they make you feel like royalty.
On edit: You could always start at Lucca and have your bread and appetizers and then go off for your veal elsewhere. Then, you can go to Mike's or Modern for dessert!
