Just a funny little observation of mine. Look at Lindsey's face on his last two covers..

Maybe he's made the decision that this is his "cover face", looking sad and intellectual.. :-)

I've noticed that, too. lol.
It's too bad, though. He does have an amazing smile.

I think he's carried around a dark side all his career. We all have our demons. Sometimes they escape. He needs to vent that in his art, otherwise he'd be an unbearable freak. He knows that.

That just screams, "Lindsey Buckingham: Grandfather of Emo". Slap a Care Bear shirt on him and some Buddy Holly glasses, with some tight leather pants and voila.

Perhaps he's trying to come across as all serious and parental-like.WHY???
I confess to liking that wee-devil-in his-eyes look (like the one on the couch), so long as he brightens up by the time the 2nd cd comes out, then it dosn't really matter for now...

NO definately not. I really believe hÃ*s tortured artistic side has a lot of integrity in it. His struggle with relationships all his life and his need to work with that in his music is clear. His quirky-almost overthetopquirkiness on solo-albums- side has always been something the rest of the band thought was problematic and obsessive. And it WAS. That whole "I wanna be a big star too, but as a genius weirdo that is a big ARTIST- not only an icon-"-attitude is really him, not a joke or a play. It even has an aggressive side. Pathetic? Maybe. But it has brought to me the best music I know. So I take him as he is. Selfindulged and whiney but soft, intelligent and very original too.

I do think he didn't get to expand the music as much as he'd have liked when being pulled back by the band and someone whose music wasn't widely received when he did get to make what he wanted but I don't think it makes him a tortured artist. to me it makes him a talented guy who happens to not be popular on a huge scale and just another guy who wasn't able to do exactly what he wanted when in the band. No different from a regular person who hasn't been able to follow the path they ultimately want to. my boyfriends a musician at heart but will never be able to, I don't think he's a tortured artist because of this. plus lindsey does like to emphasise how bad he had it in the band. george harrison and his want to write was not treated with much respect by john but again I don't think he tortured because of it. Lindsey seems like a masochist almost. He's had so much opportunity, more than just about every other musician, the way he complains about the things restricting him is almost annoying. I do love the guy's music but don't buy the tortured artist thing one bit. I can't ever feel bad for him in the slightest.
