It was Go Insane for a while, then I got OOTC and eventually that over took. UTS is great as well, possibly a new favourite, but I need to give it a bit more time. They are so hard to compare. I actually enjoy listening to OOTC and UTS as a pair, they work well together to me.

I guess that means I'm not voting, yet.

I love UTS, but Go Insane is still #1.

I don't understand why people love out of the cradle so much more than the others in general. It's my least favourite of his. I like the new one but law and order is the best for me.

I picked Go Insane. I liked it the first time I heard it. The other's had to grow on me a bit.

Well, I have not heard "Go Insane", so I can't choose that, so for me, it was a tie between "Out of the Cradle" and "Under the Skin", but I had to go with the latter, because it has "Someones Gotta Change Your Mind" on it

I think Under The Skin is my favorite. There is not a song on there that I don't enjoy listening to.

Also, the more I listen to OOTC, the more I dislike it. It's becoming a bore of an album to me. :o

I chose Out Of The Cradle with Under The Skin a very close second. But...it's ALL good!

OUt of the Cradle for sure. I have Law and Order, but don't listen to it much - but it's ok too...UTS is great - but I still really love OOTC.

Well, I went with the majority so far, OOTC...but the weird thing is just when you think you've settled on a particular album as his "best", another one will jump out and smack you in the head saying "This is it!-This is his best!" That happened with Gift of Screws when I heard it, and exactly the same thing happened when I heard UTS. The amazement never ceases!

Definitely OOTC for me. There isn't a bad track on it. I think it's one of the best records I've ever heard - from any artist.

UTS also just gets better with every listen. Unlike most of you guys, I hadn't heard any of the tracks before,so it's all new to me.

And Gerald, for so long I just didn't 'get' Shut us down. But one evening driving along in my car, I was in the right receptive mood and it hit me!

Based off of these results, it looks like I should definately buy Out of the Cradle.

I'm sure if I was in a crying mood this song could start me bawling!

There is something very sad about Castaway dreams and Down on Rodeo too.

You know I voted for OOTC, but UTS is really climbing up on my list...I'm really really digging this album the more I listen to it.

I'd venture to say that it is now my new favorite Lindsey album :o

I voted OOTC, but honestly, it's a tie between OOTC and UTS. I agree with whoever said that they work well together, mainly because I always have a craving for the other once I've listened to one. Isn't that weird?

There's not a bad song on either two, IMO.

Think I said it, and I agree with you totally. There's not a weak track on either of them. So hard to pick between them for me.

It would be really cool if the electric album planned for next year flowed well with OOTC and UTS because then there would be a trilogy of Lindsey albums that flow :D

I'm agreeing with others on UTS...I did vote for OOtC (because it's perfect), but now I can't really choose between the two albums. UTS is just gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. And there isn't a bad song on it. And I'm obsessed with it. My dad says he prefers "Under the Skin" to OOtC because he thinks Lindsey's songwriting is more complex/lyrically-rich nowadays. I just love both.

Before I voted, I went back & listened to them all...without skipping the usual tunes. I made sure I had the time to listen to each album in its entirety in one fell swoop.

Still, to me, Out Of The Cradle is his masterpiece. He just set the bar WAY high. It's his Pet Sounds.

For me, {still using the Beach Boys/Brian Wilson comparison} Under The Skin is Lindsey's equivalent of Smiley Smile. We all knew there was this album that was supposed to shake the known world being worked on, but things got so discombobulated with some of the songs being morphed into Say You Will, Lindsey's entire lifestyle changing in midstream of making the album, some songs getting released here & there. I think had he actually FINISHED Gift Of Screws and released it in its entirety at a specific point in time---say, in 1998 or '99---(as would've Brian Wilson's original SMile album back in 1967/68), we could've had something that would've knocked OotC to the curb.

The expectation level was just too high for Under The Skin...for as grateful as I am that Lindsey released it, it just doesn't satisfy the expectation.
