Wait, I'm confused. Did your friend mean that Stevie is doing a solo tour NEXT year (2007) AND touring w/ FM in 2008? Or that Stevie is touring w/ FM next year, and your 2008 was a typo?

I think his "bud" is a review of a Liddy show that he read online.

Right, but your "bud" already posted his story and his information in the Lindsey forum and on Seven Wonders. I don't think he needs you to be his spokesperson as Chris can speak just fine for himself. Perhaps you reposted his information to redirect the attention to yourself?

Thanks for the info, Chris... let's hope it's true

Great gossip, Kim! Thanks!

Is it me or is Stevie trying to compensate not making a new record by touring all the time? She's trying to divert our attention.

I don't think it's off the hook to expect La Nicks to tour by herself or with FM.In fact its is rather predictable. The news that would stun me at this point would be to learn that she was actually writing songs and working on new music. Mucho Amore Roberto

Well unless she decides to do the ole creatively spent standby of a standards album ,you actually have to write and record songs to produce a new album and although she says she has alot of raw material ,mostly written on the SYW tour, there is no indication that she has done anyhing (save for a song about Hurricane Katrina which no one seems to be able to obtain any further info on ) in neary 4 years .This is a worse drought than during the Klonopin years ..What happened to the mad songwriter of those glory years of 1975-1983 or even the semi -prolific songwriter of the post Klonopin years through SYW? It is kind of depressing that she would just stop cold but still has the energy to tour in some form every year.

Maybe that greatest hits compilation is coming out next year and she's touring behind that. Which won't result in any different set list or anything.

I would rather have new music also, but quite happy Stevie is performing every year.

I'm not complaining that she tours every year.I'm glad that she is healthy and energenic enough to do it.What bewilders me is that for someone who has said that songwriting is her first love and lamented the years that Klonopin took her creativity is now doing nothing in that area when she appears to have all her wits about her.Maybe it could be that she is too stable and grounded to look off into space and have those wonderful words and melodies come back to her like they did so often once?

I think what Stevie is going to do is kick off with a release of a Best Of with some live track or new tracks and debut it with a DREAMS show in Vegas in March, then start with a tour from maybe late May to late August doing the arena and amphitheatres thing she's been doing. Gold Dust Tour III... Or LONG WAY TO GO TOUR:D

Maybe she will release something...i mean, it's not impossible. Of course, we probably won't find out the full details for a long time, unless something leaks. I just can't see her having another tour having nothing to support. She's seemed to have gained alot of fans and excitment from both The Gold Dust Tour and TP's tour. She has a huge backlog of unreleased songs (as we all know) and she could have been working on something since late 2005.

I think alot of this talk about Stevie doing the exact same setlist for a 2007 tour as she did in '05 is a little silly. Stevie has never done the same setlist for back to back tours. The Gold Dust Tour was different from the TISL tour, the TISL tour was different from the Enchanted tour, etc etc. Of course she'll always do the standards (as she should), but there will be changes in the setlist (whether it be with new material or with older more obscure material).

I think the Gold Dust Tour in general was just something she threw together at the last minute. It was really just supposed to be the Two Voices Tour, but then when Don walked away, she renamed it the The Gold Dust Tour and carried on. I can't see her planning a full 2007 tour and not putting out a new release to accompany it..

... just my opinion

I have been following this woman's career for close to 3 decades .Even long before there was an internet some news of her working in a studio or names of songs or album titles would leak out sometimes years before the actual release or in many cases the songs themselves in demo form .This time there has been nothing .zilch .nada ..Not even a single new copyrighted song since SYW.I don't believe she is working on anything new nor for the most part has at all since the SYW sessions.:distress:

Stevie just loves to keep us all guessing. In a way it is really frustrating, but on the other hand, that is the mystery that surrounds her. I really do hope she has something up her sleeve on this one though.

I really would like to hear the song about Hurricane Katrina since she said it is more upbeat. (I am speculating that is is a song about overcoming life's bumps in the road).

Ding ding ding. If you aren't having tempestuous romances, crazy drug binges, and high drama - what's to write about ? Stevie readily admits she only writes about her own life, or the lives of those very close to her, so what's to write about, really? I know someone is going to holler about her dad, but that is not the kind of thing that one always has the distance to write about so soon. I mean, for Frank's sake, why the hell do ya think she is still writing about Lindsey 30 years later? No better material, one can only assume. I sometimes wish she really had become best friends with Courtney Love. Talk about some drama to inspire you.
Or a least stayed tight with Sheryl. Shattered romance with an athlete, breast cancer, a flop album...Sheryl ought to put ought a great record soon. She's full to the gills with drama and strife.

I really think Stevie loves touring a lot more then working in the recording studio, where Lindsey is just the opposite, although he really enjoyed himself on the SYW tour and on his current tour, although look how short his tour is, so he can go back into the studio in 07. Stevie has had plenty of time since the SYW tour ended to start an album but has opted to play shows in vegas tour with Don Henley continue 2005 touring solo and what does she do in 2006? Tag along on the Tom Petty tour, just there for the ride rocking out giving really probably the best performances she's given in the 21st century. If being on stage performing is what she's into right now, then I say go for it Stevie. Nows the time anyway. She can always decide as late as her freaking 70's that she wants to record again and it would be totally possible, but she probably couldn't tour then.

I don't think anybody meant that it would be the exact same setlist. We were saying a "Gold Dust"-like setlist; i.e., a tour with no new material to promote.

Yes, there will probably be a change or two. Circle Dance will be gone and there will be one or two that weren't part of GD setlist. I don't expect anything more than that, however.

That's totally it! She was once asked in an interview when do you write you best song and she said when I'm miserable. that's so true. I think Stevie has found true contentment in your life... Unfortunately for us, contentment doesn't equal fabulous songs. As much as I'd love another album from her, maybe it's time she put together that autobiography of hers!

Okay, when I was driving home today listening to the SYW disc, this off the wall idea came to me.
Lindsey might tour in 07 for his more rocking CD, and now we have Stevie hopefully touring in 07 and they both share Taku as a percussionist. From what I read on the forums, Lindsey's rocking CD is half done, so does this mean that Stevie will contribute to the other half? (ducking and hiding) :wavey:  :sorry: :sorry:

Or will Stevie join Lindsey on his tour much like she did with Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers? (for that matter, they share Brett Tuggle too).

See what happens when you are stuck in traffic and the mind starts to wander?

So, I hate to post unconfirmed things, but my friend Deana went to a Def Leppard/Journey show last night at the Hard Rock here in South Florida (Hollywood).

She said they had a show date listed on the marquee for Stevie on February 6th. It's not listed on their website yet, so I was just wondering if anyone else has seen any confirmed dates anywhere else around the country yet.

I know somebody said she was supposed to be going back to Caesar's in March, so a Feb date here wouldn't be out of the question if she is planning a full scale tour.

I think Stevie may release a Best Of album in 2007, under the Reprise label, with 10 best of, hand-picked songs, plus the katrina song, a song about the iraqi war (i know stevie wrote a song about this) and maybe 1 or 2 unreleased songs. That seems like a good possibility to me, plus she would have something to support. And doesn't she owe Reprise Records two more albums under her current contract?

I rarely post, but I will now, because I think one thing is missing from this thread. Stevie has said in an interview something to the effect that she doesn't think she can make money off a CD because of all the pirating that has gone on. That was a few years ago, and the RIAA and iTunes has changed the landscape, but maybe she still is of a mindset that touring is simply more profitable than recording.

This is my totally theoretical response to the "Why is Stevie touring rather than writing/recording?" discussion. It seems that a lot of artists that have longevity in their creative lives go through stages when they don't produce as much work. Some of them switch gears from a perspective that's more inward and self-focused to one that's more outward and concerned with external events. I've wondered from things that Stevie has said if she's moving away from a focus on her internal life and what has happened to her and her friends to her impressions of events beyond herself. I guess feelings about bigger events can still be personal, but it's not all about you/her anymore. Maybe she's in limbo. Maybe I'm making this all up, and she'll just happily tour into the golden years. It's just an idea.

What you've said makes a lot of sense. Which shows a new level of maturity and a departure from the angst and narcicism that used to drive her songwriting. Maybe she hasn't been able to translate her new focus into artistic inspiration. I just wish she'd be able to focus on music for the love of music and collaborate with someone who can encourage continued growth as a musician too.

I don't think her not putting new material out is due to lack of creativity. Also, as we all know she has tons of older backlogged material "in the vaults" or in demo form that theoretically she could put out any time. She was able to whip up 4 brand new songs in a month for SYW all that not too long ago.

Personally, I think she is at the point in her life/career where she doesn't want to deal with the record company BS. They are running a business and want "commercial hits". Stevie knows she has a hard-core fan base that will buy her records no matter what they are, but that base isn't big enough to impress the record company execs - thus forcing her to record other people's songs, i.e. Every Day, Maybe Love, Talk To Me, etc... songs that aren't very "Stevie" but the record companies push down her throat to boost sales. No matter what she says in interviews and on stage - she doesn't record those songs because they are so great or because she loves it so much - she records them because in order to put an album out she is forced to by the record company decision makers. An album of purely her material isn't going to sell to the teenage masses who represent the majority of music buyers, thus she has to make compromises with what she can and can't release. It's not all art people, it's mostly a business. I'm sure there are plenty of unpleasant meetings behind the scenes between artist and record company that most fans don't even realize or even have to happen when considering putting out an album.

I could see how after being in the biz over 30 yrs how she wouldn't want to deal with any of that crap and just do what makes her happy (entertain) without all of the corporate/industry BS that gets in her way.

If that's true,(which it probabally is)(I do love everyday, maybe love, and talk to me,by the way.. but anyway, I digress..) THen THERE IS MORE THAN ONE WAY to get your songs out to the fans. She doesn't have to go through the "oh, call the record execs, lets release an ALBUM" this is not 1976 it's almost 2,000 and bloody 7. Maybe its cause Im a younger fan that Im upset by the fact that stevie doesnt , break down, and make an official myspace page, or utalize her web site to put out her music or something like that, like alot of bands and artist do now, (im sure her niece could show her how:laugh: ) I mean, I know stevies a "STAR" (and I love her endlessly) but do you think she could be like sophie b. hawkins (who Yes I know, is NOT in the R&R hall of fame) but her myspace is fantastic. could we get that form Stevie,I DON't THINK SO, Ive heard everyone complain about the site, and some of the older artists like David Bowie PREVIEW new songs on there web sites. and even TOM PETTYs album was advertized on myspace! (probabally a record companys decision, I know, but still...) ANYWAY, my point is, its not like there are not other ways for her to release her music..IF SHE WANTED TO
It's just not what she's about right now. It's not where she is. (as much as I do love seeng her, WE NEED ANOTHER ALBUM. even when I travel to other cities besides phoenix, to see her, those concerts only last for afew hrs, and then NOTHING. At least with a new album, Id have that to play in the car wnenever, or put head phones on and listen to when I am feeling down whenever ya know? as much as she loves touring, its just time for another song.
