i watched parts of this. i was glad to see cyndi represented, but no stevie? NO STAND BACK? c'mon.

I know. It's weird because sometimes I don't think she's as big as "I" think she is. Then I run into people and they are like "I LOVE stevie nicks. She's been cool since the day she was born" but then i start thinking she's bigger than she actually is..and this happens. So not right.

did that make sensE??

Thoughts? Opinions?

Right off the bat, some glaring ommissions for me:

Don Henley - Boys of Summer
Stevie Nicks - Edge of 17 (and I truly don't think it's me being biased - this tune is the epitome of a great epic 80's song.) Or Stand Back, for that matter.
Steve Perry - Oh Sherry
Kim Carnes - Bette David Eyes

Also, I think Whitney's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" would have been a better choice than "How Will I KNow." Same for Chaka Kahn's "I Feel For You" and Motley Crue's "Home Sweet Home"

And wtf are Hall & Oates doing in the top 10? And with that song?

Well, the best song of the 80s (actually the best pop song ever written) is not even on the list.....Madonna's Like A Prayer.

One of the lamest lists I've ever seen.

And I agree with you about the omissions.

VH1 needs to quit with the lists and countdown shows. Remember when VH1 played music all of the time? Even in the 90's they had cool shows that were all about music. Pop up video, 8 track flashback, etc. Now we get to hear the same group of idiots' thoughts on everything from decades, videos, pop culture. Seriously, I don't care what Loni Love thinks of Kajagoogoo!

01 Bon Jovi / "Livin' on a Prayer" 1986
02 Def Leppard / "Pour Some Sugar On Me" 1987

shouldve been #1 over Blow-Jovi, since Blow-Jovi is weak.

I think VH1 means "Very Hard to watch 1 hour of this crap"

I'm just glad that they're actually talking about music. Seems like everytime I put it on the channel they're talking about fashion, who's dating who, or they're showing their celeb-reality crap or a freakin' movie!

I too would like to see actual music being played on the channel, but at this point I'll settle for them just talking about it.

P.S. - I think we need to set up a petition to send to VH1 to bring back Pop-Up Video. I loved that show!

Um. Because Push It is f'ing awesome? Yeah. That's right. I said it.

And thank God "It Takes 2" by Rob Base & DJ Easy Rock made it, cuz there would have been hell to pay.

I kept waiting for "Relax" too. They did a little flashback of Frankie Goes to Hollywood fans, showing them before a show saying how cool they were. I couldn't help but snicker when the one guy was yelling "Frankie will last. They said the Beatles wouldn't last, but they did." WTF?

^ What does that have to do with anything? :p

It Takes Two is one of the relics from my roller skating days. I can't help but love it. :D

I forgot to add some more to my list:

"Your Love" The Outfield

"Head To Toe" Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam

"Africa" or "Rosanna" Toto

"Don't Come Around Here No More" Tom Petty

You sure his list isn't "Top 100 Songs Most Likely to Dislocate SortaSavageLike's Shoulder While Reaching For the Tuning Knob?"

Seriously though, there's some great songs on here, but the Top 10 makes me when to vomit something nasty.

I really don't think any of these are worthy:

Hall & Oates "I Can't Go For That" Top 10. :distress:

Squeeze "Tempted" Never heard the tune before this show

Aerosmith "Janie's Got A Gun" Really? One of the best tunes of the 80's?

ABC "Look of Love" Boring

Depeche Mode "Just Can't Get Enough" What?

The Fixx "One Thing Leads to Another" Blah. Overrated.

And Total Eclipse of the Heart & Down Under should have been higher on the list.

So there's no Fleetwood Mac on there? I thought for sure Gypsy would be on there unless I just missed it.

I'm very surprised Bon Jovi is number 1. I would think Michael Jackson would be on top.

I think Metallica's One would be a worthy song to add to the list.

In who's 80's world does Bon Jovi rule???

Come on Eileen or Rio or Everybody Wants to Rule the World or Karma Kameleon or Like a Virgin or Girls Just Wanna Have Fun...these are the 80's to me and you hear them every single time you hear 80's songs.

Depeche Mode had every right to make that list BTW grrr LOL.

NO FM! They were 80's but this wasn't videos...it was songs...I never hear their songs on 80's night actually.

Depeche, The Cure and Duran made the list. That's enough to satisfy me for now.

And WTF @ no Stevie indeed, Stand Back (or Edge Of Seventeen for that matter) is an amazing 80s song.

:laugh: oh, how I love you.

Yes, enough with the countdown shows already, and "Livin' on a Prayer" shouldn't have even made the countdown much less achieved #1 status. What a random pick for #1, I mean COME ON.

I think When Doves Cry should've been #1. Prince (and Madonna and Michael Jackson of course) ruled the 80's; what were these pollsters thinking? Did they even grow up in the 80's? I think they're memories are shot.
