I just saw this movie the other day, and I enjoyed it a lot. It is about the current Queen Elizabeth, and is set around the time of the death of Princess Diana.
It really makes you think you are behind the scenes watching everything happening among the royal family and the elected government. Unfortunately, there is more demand for things like Saw XVII and Lindsey Lohan crapfests, so it isn't playing in that many theaters.

I want to see it! I love Helen, and the previews look great. It's playing in theaters near me, luckily... I try to ignore those Hohan crapfests. :p

Helen Mirren is amazing (as always). It's a great movie. I had some problems with how they depicted a few of the characters (like the Queen Mum), but it's one person's interpretation of what might have happened that week.
Tony Blair undoubtedly loves the movie as it makes him look like the big savior.

What was wrong with the Queen Mum? For me, the only scene in which I thought, "Well that didn't happen" was when Tony Blair went on his sudden tirade about the goodness of the queen and irresponsibilty of Diana to his staff.

I want to see this! But I must say - Hohan isn't that bad..Mean Girls was really good and funny!!
Anyway...The Queen is so intruiging to me - it's on my "to see" list for sure!

Wait wait wait - Helen Mirren is in this too? I just saw "Elizabeth I" on DVD last week, and at first I thought you were talking about that. So now she's played both Elizabeths...
"Elizabeth I" was great, for those of you who haven't seen it. It picks up where "Elizabeth" (the Cate Blanchett version from the late '90s) left off and follows the queen until her death. Although there is some overlap as the Blanchett version is somewhat condensed. Mirren is great in it - and she won an award a while back. An Emmy maybe? All I remember is her saying on air that she almost fell "ass over tits" while climbing the stairs to accept it.

I thought they portrayed the Queen Mum as callous and somewhat clueless. I also didn't like how they had Tony Blair be the one to get us to have sympathy for the Queen instead of letting us get to that place if we so chose through her own actions and words.
It's a really good movie, though. I think that week following Diana's death is one of the most fascinating ones of my life.

Very unforgettable week as it ended with the death of Mother Theresa.
Definitely one of those times when you know there are no such things as coincidences.
