I was just wondering this. I know it went gold in a couple of months, but I was wondering if anyone knew what the total sales figures for this album was. Really though, if you all know the sales figures for all of Stevie's solo albums I would love to find out. I have tried finding the numbers, but I haven't been able to
:sorry:
All help would be greatly appreciated.
Much Love,
Ethan

TISL actually went gold in 2001 just a few months after it was released. It has sold 655,000 copies as of August 2006, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Here are the sales figures for her other solo albums.
Bella Donna - 4 million
Wild Heart - 2 million
Rock a Little - 1 million
Other Side of the Mirror - 1 million
Timespace - 1.5 million
Street Angel - 229,000
Enchanted - 168,000 (x3)

Street Angel - 229,000
Since Street Angel went gold also (according to www.riaa.com), doesn't this mean more than 500,000 copies were sold?

I don't think it actually went gold. I cannot access the RIAA website because Im outside of the US, but someone from Billboard listed the complete sales of Stevie's albums not long ago, and we were all shocked that SA had only sold 229,000...

Today, a certification is based on the number of units shipped to retailers. So 500,000 copies of the Street Angel were probably shipped to retailers at some point, which, in theory, would qualify for a gold certification. But the actual number of copies sold--barcodes scanned--according to SoundScan, is 229,000.
With music downloads taking over and CD stores becoming obsolete, the criteria for issuing certifications is likely to change at some point.

Well, I have no idea about the US, but in NZ certifications are made for album sales only, not the amount shipped - if this weren't true in the US, wouldn't that mean that there are 260,000+ "Street Angel" albums still sitting in CD stores

hi all...just an observation of mine regarding mtv and vh1. does it seem fair that these sites are not accessable to anyone not living in the u.s.? i'm a canadian and i had joined vh1 classics.com so i could follow and request music videos of stevies on the all request hour...does anyone know why we can't even look at their videos anymore? this is the reason i spend so much time on veoh and utube:confused: ...pat
Does Anyone Know How Many Copies TISL sold?
A helluva lot more than either of Lindsey's or Christine's solo efforts!

that's awesome. especially considering the way the music business is these days. what trips me out is that it's nothing for more popular artists (Justin, Christina, Beyonce, etc.) to top 2 million in a matter of a couple of months. I think given the oversaturation of artists and music and the internet and all things considered, it's totally respectable that TISL has sold nearly 700,000 copies. most artists (with the exception of the ones mentioned above) strive to at least go gold.

It seems like a large number. But if you consider how many retailers are in the US (some 8,000 stores), it actually doesn't seem like a lot of extra copies per store.
