After reading the thread in the Stevie Forum about her attending the 40 year reunion of Arcadia High it reminded me of some "famous" grads from my high school:

Matthew Modine - actor - credits include Birdy, Full Metal Jacket, Vision Quest, Married to the Mob and the HBO movie - And the Band Played On. Matt's father ran the local drive in theater.

Jake E Lee - guitarist - played with Ozzy Osborne among others (Brian J will know who this is) You could hear him practice his guitar in his garage a mile away.

Esteban Loiza - Pitcher with the Oakland A's - came over the border from Tijuana to attend school in the States.

and not as famous as the others - Wild Willie Parsons - the Biker comic from this season's Last Comic Standing

any famous grads from your schools?

the only person famous from my high school and where I grew up is Archie Manning. I actually went to church with all the Mannings.

No one. High School or College.

Michael Knight (Project Runway) was wearing an Alderson Broaddus (college I graduated from) jacket in one of the episodes. I thought that was weird, being there are only 700 college students that go there a year and it is in the hills of West Virginia.

Anyone remember that guy from "Who Wants To Marry A Millionaire?" Yeah, he's a Fox Chapel HS alumn.

Jakey Lou Williams is a great guitarist known for his stint with Ozzy Osbourne after the death of Randy Rhoads.

Interesting that I just received a cd this morning featuring Jake E.Lee, the first & best Badlands album-"Badlands"

As for my high school, Only one to my knowledge is Robert Reed (aka Mike Brady of "The Brady Bunch") who sadly died of AIDS years ago.

That's funny... did you know the Modine's? I know his brother Mike, who lives about a mile from me.

I met Matt a few times. He was, how shall I put this, not the most focused student. He managed to attend all 3 high schools in the area. I knew his Dad the best because he used to be a frequent customer at my Dad's store.

Well then Mike and Matt must've been two peas in a pod cuz Mike ain't the most focused person. :woohoo: either.

My high school and others in the area were big on sports so had some folks who went on to the big leagues... Carlos Palomino being the most famous, Nick Neugebauer, Klesko, Maddox as well as a few minor leaguers. We even had one of our cheerleaders go on to become a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader, back when they were hot. It was the high schools in the surrounding areas that had the actor/entertainer-type alumnis; Steve Martin, Michelle Pfiefer, Steven Segal, Gwen Stefani, Mark McGrath, Jason Lee and Will Farrell to name a few.

Edit: That would be when I lived down in SoCali - not here in the Pacific RainyWest

Hey, my mom has a friend who ironed clothes for the late John Wayne and his family. And, her friend lived in Fountain Valley at the time.

Kelly the "lap girl" who wore a toga during Greek Week Races in the "Revenge of the Nerds" movie graduated from my school:) She's the one with long blonde hair and has been in a couple of movies as an extra when she was much younger. They filmed it when she was in college in AZ.

She's now a doctor and has reddish hair:lol:

I don't know anyone else who became more famous from my school.

Roger Taylor from Queen went to my school - he used to take the same bus home as my Mum. We also had Robert Shaw (Quint from "Jaws") and John Rhys-Davies, who was in "Lord of the Rings". Apart from them, another guy won gold medals at sailing in the Olympics, another guy is a chess Grandmaster, we had two members of Parliament and an opera singer, and a guy called Luke who helped me cheat in a Latin exam is now a reasonably big electronica-type music artist. Sadly I have failed to live up to the expectations of my school and have cheerfully amounted to nothing :o

I went to two different high schools. I can't really think of anyone famous from one, but Doug Collins (former NBA player/coach) and John Malkovich graduated from the other. I went to school with some of Malkovich's relatives.

I don't think anyone famous went to my high school, but a few went to my dad's high school....Arlington Heights High School. John Denver, Bill Paxton and Lee Harvey Oswald are three that I know of. There is a story in my family that John Denver proposed to my aunt, but she turned him down. Don't know the whole story on that, but it's really cool. Lee Harvey Oswald went to Heights, but didn't graduate from there.

I know how you feel about cheerfully amounting to nothing. :D To me, my high school reunions are a lot like the movie Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion. 'Cept I would never say I invented Post it Notes. That's very cool your mum rode the bus with Roger Taylor. And that guy helped you cheat on your exam. I had a guy in my computer programming class help me with our end of year project (well, okay... he actually did it for me) and he ended up working for a major Hollywood special effects studio.

Well, let's see...

Bobby Grich (former 2nd baseman for the California Angels & Baltimore Orioles back in the 70s & 80s) He was starting shortstop in baseball (the Orioles moved him to 2b since they already had an all-star shortstop named Mark Belanger), starting QB in football and starting point guard in basketball. Definitely the BMOC the three years he was there.

Bob Bailey (former 3rd baseman for the Pittsburgh Pirates & Los Angeles Dodgers back in the mid-60s)

Jim Pagliaroni (former catcher for the Boston Red Sox back in the early '60s)

Dennis Dummit (former starting UCLA quarterback...in high school he was the 2nd string QB behind Bobby Grich)

Jeff Burroughs (former outfielder for the Texas Rangers)

Sean Burroughs (current third baseman for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays; and son of Jeff Burroughs)

Jeff Severson (former defensive back for the Washington Redskins)

Laura Baugh (pro golfer on WPGA tour back in the mid/late 70s, early '80s) And the only one on this list from MY graduating class

Paul Goydos (pro golfer on PGA tour)

Billie Jean King (legendary women's tennis star)

Pat McCormick (two-time Olympic gold medalist in women's diving)

Bruce Brown (pro surfing champion)

Brad Nowell (late lead singer of the band Sublime)

Camryn Manheim (actress...formerly on The Practice, currently on the Ghost Whisperer)

Bad Azz (rapper, Snoop Dogg's collaborator)

Donald Coscarelli (horror film director...most well-known for the Phantasm series)

And unfortunately, even an INFAMOUS alum:

Jeremy Strohmeyer (molested & murdered 7 year old Sherrice Iverson in a Primm, Nevada casino in 1997)

You've probably met both of them. Robby is the one with the tightest ties here, I think he still lives in Buffalo (at least part time.) He's really active in the arts & music scene here, promotes lots of festivals & shows.

I'm pretty sure Johnny lives full time in L.A. now.

According to one interview just after John moved to LA, he said he was having a hard time fitting in so he was staying home a lot. He had a stalker around the time of Dizzy Up The Girl and has been leary since. He seems to do meet and greets just fine. The one I saw him at, he was wearing a pair of thong underwear over his cargos and said he had been to the local bar the night before getting drunk. He took them from the house entertainment. I dunno, that guy seems like a handful to me. Cute tho.
