View Full Version : Disrespectful and Rude

I was just looking through the forums and I noticed the signature of a member. I find HomerMcvie's signature saying "Homie - He doesn't want to get eaten by Stevie's flying vagina of death" mean and in bad taste. I've seen his signature in a couple of different topics but mainly in the Christine Mcvie one. I'm guessing he likes her more than the other Fleetwood Mac members, which is perfectly fine but his signature is very rude. I dont think it would be very nice if I changed my signature to something like "Marge - I dont want to get eaten by Christine's flying penis and scary looking man face".
Sorry to complain, but I just think HomerMcvie's signature is very inappropriate to have in a Fleetwood Mac forum.

Calm down! I don't think his signiture is meant to be taken seriously. And as far as it being in poor taste, since when has this board ever been tasteful?
Racy comments are constantly being made. I guess I have just gotten used to them. I love Stevie and I really don't know what Homie is implying with his signiture, but it doesn't bother me...

Yea, it'd be different if Homie had an actual picture of a vagina in his siggie, then it would definitely be removed. I once posted a picture of a vagina, rather unknowingly because the picture was soooo blurred I couldn't really tell what the heck it was... and it got removed from the thread. There were a few people torked off about that one. Oops! hehe... but I'm still here. Nobody talks to me, but I'm still here... JUST KIDDING!! ;)

Hi Blondie,
Welcome to the board. I am sorta a newbie myself so I can understand where your coming from. It was also a little confusing coming to the board seeing certain comments made because sometimes I wasn't sure how to take them or certain posters. After awhile you just get used to it. I don't post much but I lurk a lot and from my understanding Homie isn't a Stevie fan lol. I love Stevie too but I can't honestly say I am pissed or offended by his siggy. It was a joke because I remember reading the thread it came from weeks ago .However, you certainly have your right to feel offended. But that is just how it is on this board. You might see some comments you don't like but overall most of the people here are cool and move past it. The only time I ever get annoyed or pissed is when I see some poster's being rude and disrespectful to others. Hopefully, you will continue to post.

Damn, I hate to break my own personal rule of not posting here, but folks, just so you know (and as far as we can tell)- this character is also known as Tusk85. He's TROLLED Chris' own website for sometime now. Complete bitter POS troublemaker. I even have his real name and addy somewhere(athough I'm too sleepy to find it right now{I woke up on the couch, ready for bed, and found a PM warning me of him being over here}).
Wouldn't you think he'd be smart enough to quit using the "85"?

By the way, Homer's signature comes from a quote that was made by a Stevie-obsessive. It's not about Stevie. It's a thing from the wanabee/totalworship-steviefans. Whatever you think about Homer, we disagree mostly because I love LB and he CM, it'll be a riot to hang out with him in a loserbar getting loaded. It's something I've planned to do in my life once.

Um, here's a thought. It's disrespectful and rude to create an entire thread for no other purpose than to say that another Ledgie (and especially one with a whole hell of a lot more seniority and cred than you) is being disrespectful and rude. Just a tad hypocritical, don't you think?
Got a problem with his sig? Tell him, not us.

The ledge is like a high school cafeteria. You’ve got the cool kids table, the not so cool kids table, the freaks and the geeks. You just have to figure out which table you feel the most comfortable at, pull up a chair and sit down. Every once in while a kid from another table will walk by, look over at you, without lifting their head mind you and give you a wink and you realize, we’re all in the same place so we might as well all get along. :wavey:

Yep, he did. I even have it(the "okay") saved as a Word file, just in case it got deleted.
And, as I've said before, I had NO intention of using that as my sig. I was JOKING about using it, then one thing led to another, and the challenge was on!:D Never challenge Homie.....remember that, kids!;)

The suggestion to use the "Ignore" feature is a good one, and it comes straight from the User Guidelines here at the Ledge.
There are also a few other points that I'd like to highlight from those guidelines....
In general, the main "rule" for posting on The Ledge is the Golden rule--"do unto others..." An attitude of respect toward each other and the members of Fleetwood Mac should be maintained always.
(R)espect for others should also include a respect for ALL of the members of Fleetwood Mac, past and present.
In expressing your devotion to one member of Fleetwood Mac, please try to avoid belittling the accomplishments of the others.
We also have very definite rules against "harassing, deriding, insulting and mocking" other Ledgies... behaviour which a handful of people have turned into a sport here lately. My suggestion is that a few folks either straighten up and/or take their sadism somewhere else, or the mods are going to start weeding out the offending parties.

Sorry. This totally absurd vaginathing was started by a steviefan. Not by people who have other faves. It was even held against me -as a joke- a tasteless one, because I love Stevie.
And Johnny Stew, I should have reported that as an insult immediately back then. Actually, you explained where the dumb quote came from as I recall. You're very doublehearted when it comes to insults over here.

Johnny Stew.... you're very doublehearted when it comes to insults over here. That's not true, because I do often contact Stevie fans and remind them to rise above the childish taunting and mocking that's far too often thrown their way. But, really, why should anyone have to constantly "put up and shut up"?
You were an innocent bystander in that particular conversation, of course, but then the little "flying vagina of death" comment directed your way was pretty innocuous.
You hold your own when it comes to debates and arguments, so I can't imagine you were seriously offended by it.

By the way, the fact that I walk a thin line when it comes to being playful during arguments and discussions, doesn't mean I can't be offended by stupidity. Especially when it's not directed at me, but towards my fandom.

As long as we're pointing fingers, let's not forget that Stevie fans themselves are not above childish taunting and the hurling of insults. This entire thread, for example, was created for no other purpose than to call out an individual on something someone perceived as rude, when it would have been better to simply send a PM. Or how about another recent incident when someone resurrected an old, long dead thread for no other reason than to publicize their dislike for another member. Or how about the derogatory comments made about Bekka in the post Rumours forum?
So let's not play the part of the victims here, people. We're all guilty. No fan faction is immune to it.

So let's not play the part of the victims here, people. We're all guilty. No fan faction is immune to it.I've never said anyone was completely innocent, but through simple observation it's easy to see that Nicks fans aren't typically the ones firing the first-shot in these little insult games. Comments from that camp are typically made in retaliation. You and Homer, for example, have often had intentionally inflamatory comments in your signatures... which are visible every single time you post... knowing full well that you'll get a rise out of certain people. So when that happens, why act surprised? If you weren't hoping for a reaction, you wouldn't bother.
That doesn't make it right, but it should be expected.
It's the old "if you fight back, we'll escalate our taunts -- and if you don't fight back, we'll treat you like an easy-target and keep taunting you anyway" bull****.
There are other ways to have fun and get attention, without resorting to mocking and ridicule.

I've never said anyone was completely innocent, but through simple observation it's easy to see that Nicks fans aren't typically the ones firing the first-shot in these little insult games.
Especially these Nicksfans-defense-posts are really tempting. I agree with the rest of your post, but this part is awakening alot of "tongue-in-cheek"-ideas in me. I bet Homer suffers from the same disease.

You and Homer, for example, have often had intentionally inflamatory comments in your signatures... which are visible every single time you post... knowing full well that you'll get a rise out of certain people.
Often? I had the teapot picture - which as I've already explained to you was based on a comment I had made poking fun at her hand gestures and really wasn't meant to be inflammatory - and for a short while I had a line that said "resident Stevie-bashing threadjacker" - which was directed more at myself than at anybody else.
Unless there was some other sig. picture or wordage that I've forgotten about, I fail to see how that qualifies as "often."

You know what, I don't have the energy for any of this anymore.
Or maybe it's just that I don't have the desire to muster the energy for any of this anymore.
If I try to explain another point-of-view... try to get to the root of the animosity... I get called on symantics and the teeniest of details, and ultimately we get absolutely nowhere because no one wants to budge or be a bigger person.
Apparently Nicks fans deserve to be mocked and ridiculed.
Other fans deserve respect, but they don't.
Other fans can take pot-shots at them, but they can't take pot-shots at anyone else (whether offensively or defensively).
Now we all know the rules and we can all just play along and convince ourselves that this isn't the same way 13 year olds behave.
Check, please.

And apparently it's perfectly fine for Nicks fans to pull the "S/he started it" routine and be excused for their actions.
Whatever, have fun with your "weeding."

From what I can tell Homer may suffer from many diseases, which may or may not include cobwebs on his private parts:p , but tongue and cheek comments and a good debate are welcome by this Macfan. What I have a problem with is people that constantly go out of their way to insult and always have to let you know that they have some irrational hate for Stevie. You know we get that without them making their lame jabs every time. I could easily make degrading remarks about other Mac members, but I can appreciate everyones contribution to the band and I show respect. Is that really that hard to do?

Please someone out there! Teach me. Now! What's irrational hate for Stevie? Is there rational hate for Stevie too?
no. there's only one thing here. that's a natural countermovement on the extreme forms of Stevielicking here, including wannabe-her. It has nothing to do with the poor girl herself.

Well ok so some people can be a little annoying with their "stevielicking" ( haha nice choice of words for this thread) but is it any worse than when people go on and on about other members or start drooling over Lindsey's member  ; do they have to put up with people constantly chiming in just to make negative and rude comments? Whatever the reason for it , it just gets old.
I personally would'nt take any offense to the comments if they were actually amusing or somewhat clever instead of just mean spirited. That's just me though, I have a warped sense of humor:sorry:

I have toddlers in my house and we encourage the use of correct words to describe anatomical parts.

How many Ledgies does it take to screw in a light bulb?
Eight: One to actually change the light bulb and seven to argue about who the Hell left the old light bulb on for so long.
And, am I the only one who found it oddly funny that "Stevie's fly vagina of death" and "bad taste" were used in the same sentence?

I'm grabbing better pictures tonight at karaoke (I must do Gold Dust woman - wondering how long it'll take me to paint a spoon gold...) and I'm applying more powder to my dress and writing on my ass "Mick was here" and "So was Joe" and "Marshall, Will and Holly were on a routine expedition" and so on in best I can with the powder.
And I'm wearing these panties:

I used to love their fish sticks, until I bit into one, one day, and found a fish eye. It scarred me for life.

Since this thread is going nowhere I'm going to lock it. It is in the Stevie forum where normally fans of Stevie congregate. But she is an easy target for those who aren't fans and who seem to really get off on getting a rise out of those that are.
Also, the thread was started to point out the behavior of another, please just PM a mod when you find something offensive. It's not appropriate to post publicly like that for reasons that should now be obvious.
