Ok. I just cried watching that.

Loved the lyric changes!

BATB from the OSOTM and Timespace tours are my favourite performances. Something about the drone in Stevie's voice makes it all the more sad :(

I opine:

- off night for all involved
- love the intro music
- love the ad libbing and lyric switcharoos
- love the wind blowing effect
- Stevie's lucky she has any hair left at all

I thought it was interesting- love the lyric changes (even though they're highly sad). This is my favorite Stevie song live- if anyone knows of any other live performances- please post them! I can't seem to find any on YouTube (other than Vegas performances).

The OSOTM ones are great. Do you have any of those?

No, I've only seen RAL (my favorite) WH (my second favorite) and various Vegas ones.

The one from Houston, TX was up on YouTube not long ago, but I think it got taken off. I have the audio if you would like it?

Any one else hates it when Stevie adds words that weren't in the original album recordings?

"exactly how to leave"
"that it is not mine and it never was"
"timeless are the creatures who survived it"
etc....etc...etc...

I can't watch Live at Red Rocks because of it, it seems she does it less now though.:]

You're joking right?

That's what I love about the live performances, that they are different! I'm sure pretty much everyone here feels the same way. Those are the performances that are special. They capture the time and the mood that she was feeling at that point in her life. Silver Springs is a perfect example of that.

I so wish she did it more now.

I agree. I love it because it's like she's telling us just a little bit more.

I don't mind the lyric switches. I just hate when she does them "speaking".

She started out sounding like she was sick. Got better towards the middle. I prefer the Vegas BATB though.

Ah, off key Stevie. This was my least favorite tour vocally, but the set list and costume changes were good. :woohoo:

Absolutely!!! I love the adlibs, changed lyrics and even the little mistakes that Stevie makes in the live performances. At the Dance show in Chicago, Stevie completely forgot some of the lyrics to "Stand Back" and Lindsey and Christine were laughing. I love listening to that performance because it brings me back to that evening. If Stevie wouldv'e just looked down into the crowd -- everyone was singing them for her!

I like the lyric changes. I always love it when she ad libs. This version is just okay to me. Her voice sounds good. The klonopin didn't seem to be affecting her too badly on this night. Also, fortunately BATB is a relatively quiet song musically which is good as I felt that at times the Timespace tour band overpowered Stevie with their loudness and she tried to oversing them. That was back before she used an ear monitor.
One of the ultimate performances of this song is this one, IMO.
Kudos to the videographer. You know who you are:

No. I love it and think that is part of what makes Stevie Stevie Nicks. It bums me out she doesn't do the ad libs as much anymore. One spectacular ad lib that comes to mind is the end of Sisters Of The Moon from the LA show that became the Mirage Tour video. Another one is from the Japan tour '77 when she flings herself to the floor at the end of Rhiannon.

^^ exactly. If she didn't adlib, we wouldn't have "take me like the wind child" or the whole" Oh you know your dreams unwind, still it's a state of mind" "take me like the wind baby take me with the skyyy-yiii-yyiiiiiii...all the same....all the same etc" And how boring would THAT be!!!

as I said earlier...I like the switches. just stevie-STOP speaking them!!!

I usually like most of Stevie's lyric changes/ad-libs.... but there's one that I cringe at - in BATB -

after the big dramatic IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII've changed......

... or at least I'm trying to change.... {yuck!}

I feel like that just takes away from the drama/meaning of the original lyric....

sometimes less is more... in this case... I'd definitely prefer less.

I feel the same way. The previous line is so powerful and climactic. For her to minimize it with "or at least, I'm trying to change" really deflates the moment. The other line I'm not too fond of is "my darling lives in a world that is not mine and it never was."

I'm all for ad libs but only if they work with the music.

I love her adlibs. Yes, even the lines that are spoken and totally random and barely fit in the song. I feel like it gave us a peak into her inner thoughts at the time. I don't like it when her adlibs became part of the song (i.e. the Rhiannon ending and OTR "Mick said" part)...I still love those parts, but they don't seem as special as they once were. They became predictible.

There are loads of proffesionally edited clips from the Timespace tour splashed all over the net. Those ones with the frozen image at the begginging are particulaly annoying. Does anyone know anything about these? Are these from are "Timespace Live" video that never ended up being released like so many e.g. Melbourne?
