I used to hate Fall because it meant months and months of dark dreary weather ahead. But in my quest to be more Zen... Now, I just take it as it comes. Actually, there are some really nice things about Fall.... better sleeping and walking weather, crisp dewey mornings, bright colors and little critters getting ready for winter. Today I popped my camera in my bag and went for a little walk, something I've thought about doing for years but never did.

For the last few weeks, I take a handful of raw peanuts on my walks. The squirrels love them. They're now so used to me coming around, so they run up to me and wait for their peanut. Today is the first day I tried to photograph them... figured they'd run away, but they didn't.

How cool of this to be hanging there for me to take a picture. Wasn't sure if it would turn out... sort of apropro for the upcoming holiday.

The leaves turning in the park...

I love fall. I get depressed at the end of summer, and then fall comes and everything is all right.

I LOVE those pictures! and I love fall too......fall brings us two of my favorite Holidays: Halloween (fave) and Thanksgiving (gotta love a chance to pig out with family  ) I love the leaves turning and I love the cooler weather. I love the darker skies that dont actually rain. and sometimes, I get FOG!

I love the autumn with its beautiful color palette of changing leaves, the brisk crisp cool air, the smell of burning wood from fireplaces and wood stoves. Just wish it stuck around longer than it does....winter comes so quickly and I like things about it but autumn is the favorite season here!

Fall is my favorite season! The changing of the leaves in the mountains here are soooo beautiful. The crisp, clean air! Football is my favorite sport, and it is played in fall. Fall is just the best!

Fall is my favorite season! I love it - the leaves changing, the smell of people's fireplaces, the crisp cool air, Halloween, the cozy sweaters. Fall in NY is kickass. Here are some pics from our trip to the Adirondak mountains last year:

I'm extremely upset that we're getting screwed on fall this year. Sorry to keep bringing it up, but we honestly haven't recovered from that big storm - not much foliage & there's still broken trees & debris all over the place. They're actually contemplating CANCELLING trick or treating this year - too much debris blocking sidewalks, still many broekn power lines just hanging there, some street lights still not working. I'm so sad about it all. :distress:

I do love the change in seasons here, but this year it seemed to go right from summer to some new really dismal prewinter season. This is NOT my fall at all.

Yeah, my friend Ryan's not loving it out in L.A. He doesn't hate it, but he'll be moving in the spring. He does travel nursing, so he can move as often as every 13 weeks, and he can stay in one place as long as 2 years.

Great pics, and it is sad that you're getting gyped out of fall :distress:

It's my absolute favorite season. It's been an amazing fall here in Colorado _ I'm absolutely loving it.

We used to have fall in my hometown - but for the last 5 years, it's less and less to the point where really there seems like no fall - it's perpetually in the upp 70s into the 80s and down there it just seems HOT because the sun just beats down....it's sad - I remember seasons growing up - but they seem to be a thing of the past in my hometown :( Reason numer 843 I'm glad I don't live there anymore.

I love the fall for the same reasons Paula pointed out. there's something about turning on the heat for the first time and smelling the smell of burnt death that makes me all giddy.

I'm not going all Ted Bundy on yo ass. what I meant was that smell from the heater the first time you turn it on...after it hasn't been used in a while...there's a certain smell...not necessarily pleasant, but makes me think about winter. I don't know...I have a thing with smells. I associate everything to a smell apparently.

ok, f*ck it. nevermind.

^ No, I know what you mean. I just don't think I've ever heard it described that way before.

I love the smell of outside in the fall - it's like you can actually smell cold, along with the leaves & the mud & fire.
