Friday I needed to indulge in a little retail therapy. So here's my list:

Went to the Skechers store and bought a nice comfy pair of MichelleK mules.
Hit the Mac store for some Studio Fix.
Hit Neiman Marcus for some Lancome Absolue day, Definicils black, Flash Retouche in Rose Lumiere. Also got a sample of Orlane B21 Extreme Line Reducing Care Eye Countour.
Then I headed over to Tower Records to see what kind of bargains I could find. Everything is still only 20% off right now but I've got my eye on a few things for when it gets better than 20% off. So I got Eurythmics Ultimate Collection, The Best Of Joe Jackson, The Best Of The Fixx and The Motels Essential Collection.

^^^ Love Paula's signature!!!

I just bought myself 3 or 4 cami's, and some long sleeved shirts to go over them, bought Sara the same except she got a couple of sweaters, bought my bonus daughter and myself each a candle, and bought both of the girls their own throws in their favorite color, so they will leave my purple one alone! I've been shopping a lot lately. Oh ya, I bought Sara a Halloween costume.

Oh, it'll be even more gorgeous when it's spun into yarn. The state it's in now is roving, which is part of a cleaned, processed, & dyed fleece. It has to be spun into yarn. It's way more satisfying than I ever imagined to spin yarn.

Seriously, I love yarn. The color, the texture- mmm. Flickr has only made my yarn porn thing easier- I can stalk people's albums and drool at stuff like this.

Well, first she started out as wanting to be an oompa loompa... I wanted to do that sooooo bad! Then, she wanted to be "bloody murder", whatever the hell that's supposed to be! ahahaha... then she changed it to a ballerina, because her sister said she was going as a goth ballerina. Thank God you got the diet soda. ;)

JK - I do the same thing. I'm so used to diet POP (yeah, that's what we call it here, so back off) that regular tastes gross to me. I am the jerk who had been known (when I was eating this kind of stuff) to order the double cheeseburger & large fries with a Diet Pepsi. :D

The last thing I bought (for myself) was a CD called Steel Cowboys.

The last thing I bought before that was a CD called Steel Cowboys.

And before that was a CD called Steel Cowboys.

First I bought it from an Amazon third-party seller, but it never arrived. Then I bought it from a different Amazon third-party seller and they sent the wrong CD. Finally deciding that Amazon Marketplace is cursed, I bought it from a seller on Ebay. Let's hope the third time's the charm.

Last gift of the holiday season - a sweater for my best friend. I spotted it last night at Macy's, 40% off plus I had a $10 coupon (cuz I'm cheap.) So I get up to the register & they point out to me that the coupon's only good until 1pm. But it's good tomorrow too! But only until 1pm.

So I was at Macy's before work at 9am today buying the damn sweater (and a pair of socks to make the $25 minimum  ) B*tch had better like it.

I hate Gap. I know -that sentiment belongs in another thread -but bear with me. I feel in love with a GapScent called Sueded Musk. LOve. Ok - well because The Gap is an asshole they've discontinued the scent....I called all Gaps in a 100 mile radius to me in Colorado - no one carries it anymore...

Finally a Gap in Albuquerque had lotion left...I cleaned them out  6 lotions and 2 Body butters....and I'm sure they thought I was nuts at the register...but I'm so bitter they've gotten rid of this heavenly scent....

I get complimented almost daily on smelling good...I'm gonna miss my Sueded Musk when it's gone :distress:

SO anyway - tons of lotion was my last purchase, but two Amy Tan books :D

I'm looking at pre-ordering some new February music releases (Symphony X, Symphorce & Helloween) and maybe some animes (Wolf's Rain, Samaurai Shamploo & possibly more).

I did receive the new Whitesnake "Live-In the Shadow of the Blues" double disc import, which I was going to purchase...But my sis Lesa sent it as a X-mas present.

Deb ordered some Sasha Miller books from Barnes & Noble with her X-Mas gift card that my sister Lesa sent.

I ordered the DVD "Click" yesterday since we both have heard positive reviews about it. Also ordered "Dogma", "Queen of the Damned-Widescreen version", "Harold & Kumar Go to Whitecastle-Unrated edition", "Waiting" & "Spongebob Squarepants-The Movie". Planning on purchasing "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" for Deb since she loves that movie.

You've taken the crown away from Strand for being the biggest homo here on The Ledge at this moment in time. He had it for a few days, for telling us about his singing at the piano dressed in a ballgown. But the visual of you in legwarmers obviously trumps that. So good for you, congratulations you fabulous bitch. :xoxo:

Amber - those shoes are awesome. The first pair of boots are cute, but awfully furry - not that there's anything wrong with that. The second pair is f*cking hot, but you're correct in your assessment that you'll never get them over your calves. :p And you really should watch Steel Magnolias. Shirley MacClaine is the **** in that movie.

I bought two books yesterday - Alice Hoffman's new one & Dreams From My Father by Barak Obama. I also bought an orange case with armband for my mp3, and some lotion & crap from L'Occitane to try. If I love the products, I will have to kick Livia's ass for telling me about their website. ;) Also, my custom wood blinds for the bedroom/computer room should be arriving any day now.

Amber - those shoes are awesome. The first pair of boots are cute, but awfully furry - not that there's anything wrong with that. The second pair is f*cking hot, but you're correct in your assessment that you'll never get them over your calves. And you really should watch Steel Magnolias.

Also, my custom wood blinds for the bedroom/computer room should be arriving any day now.

Oh, my, I didn't even see that jaz had gotten legwarmers. Oh, my.

Speaking of legwarmers, that is kind of my theory behind the poofy short boot - you know how legwarmers make your legs look slimmer b/c they are poofy around your ankle/lower calf? Yeah, like the boots I just got.
Thank you for backing up my theory about the most awesome boots in the world that I will never have.

Wood blinds - awesome. I hope they're not too darkening of the ambience. Nah.
I saw Obama promoting his book, should be a good read. He's very charismatic.
Ignoring L'Occitane mention, will not go to website, lalalalalalalalaI can't hear youlalalalala.
I love Alice Hoffman, and I need an armband for my shuffle, oddly enough. It is hard to jumprope with it hanging around my neck. Too bouncy uppy.

Okay, this one is kind of silly, but whatevs. You know how "all" the girls, and some of the boys (that's you, Jaz), have the moon necklace and/or the pyramid necklace?

I've always wanted one, too - the moon one even before stevie cause it is my planet. But I have never quite bought one, for some reason. I couldn't decide, because a lot of times I don't like having the same thing as everyone else, or something.

Anyway, even though I said I'm never buying anything again....:p

I was at whole foods yesterday, rounding out my grocery shopping (where, incidentally, I totally stayed within my budget and bought only things I had planned to buy - miracle) and they always have these crystals hanging up in the "more frivolous cool things section". I always kind of stop, because they are mesmerizingly sparkly. So I just take a moment to gaze at the sparkly beauty.

Then after the initial rainbow light awe, I noticed the shapes of the crystals.

Then I saw a moon shape, in crystal. I got excited. I was like "ooo, I should buy that and make a necklace, then I'll have a moon necklace! How much is it? $6! Sweeeet".

Then I looked around more, and....there was a pyramid crystal, too! They are both the perfect size! I had a quandry, here, b/c the pyramid was $13. I knew I couldn't get just one. Because there was only one pyramid left, and the other moons were $7.50 instead of $6.

In case you couldn't guess the end of this story, "I had to get them". :blob2: I never recalled seeing a moon or pyramid in the crystal section before, also, I was hankering for a bead project. I swear, I have a jewelry sickness. Thank goodness I can make a portion of my own. Anyways...

So now not only do I have them, but they are different than everyone's, not too derivative of Stevie's, and I get to make my own necklaces out of them!
Look for that shortly in the "DIY/crafts" thread. Crystals don't photograph well, though. :(

Lastly - yes, I know crystals are kind of cheesy, but I don't care because they are sparkly and pretty and wonderful and magical.

Also? The guy only charged me for one, so my horrible buying transgression only cost $13, instead of $19. Still, when you get to that $20 mark, you start to feel guiltier. But $13 is almost like only $10. See? See the flawless logic? :p

I tried to take pics to show you, but they didn't work out. And y'all might be hearing of me eating hot dogs all next week. So worth it.

How many of those suckers are there? Eleven? Twelve? Some crazy number.
It's ridiculous.

'Course, pretty much all straight to video sequels suck majorly. The only one I own is Brother Bear 2, which was better than I expected but still not great. Much as I love Patrick Dempsey, he's no Joaquin Phoenix and didn't quite cut it as the voice of Kenai.

I just looked on Amazon.com and apparantly Catherine O'Hara did the voice of some character named Kata in BB2. I have no idea which one that is and I just watched the damn thing yesterday - perhaps one of the "moosettes"? No listing for Eugene Levy, though.

Oh, ok, maybe I was imagining Eugene. I would totally not surprised if she was a moosette! That's so funny. She's done a lot of voicework lately, which is a little annoying, since I'd rather see *her* in a movie, rather than a cartoon with her voice.

I'll have to see if I can rent Brother Bear. I just looked it up on imdb... Male Lover Bear??? lolol. I'll see it for that name alone!

When our Dad died in '77, we had zero income to survive upon excluding the death benefit from Dad's Social Security, so until my Mom was able to be medically cleared to work we survived on M&C, liver, Denny's Stew, bolonga & cheese sandwiches & pancakes.

It's not hard to re=string, you will figure it out - if I can figure out anyone can ;)

I had an acoustic years ago, and I learned some chords and even a few songs (It's Late and After the Glitter Fades among them) but then I just started ignoring it. Sadly now as I sit with my new guitar it seems I don't even remember the basic chords I learned years ago. Hopefully it'll come back to me.

I was just thinking the other day how I wish I'd not sold the guitar, but now I'm more excited because this puppy is much easier for me and my small hands to play.

A roof. Finally. Gave the guy 6885 on Wed. Night. Will give him another 6885 next Saturday when it is done.

*coughchokesplutter*

:distress: Sorry, that's quite a hit.

I'm getting a lamp today, it's all handmade and stuff from this cool shop by my house. It screws into the wall, which I need because I don't have a bedside table spot for a lamp, really.
It's all light wood, in a kind of upward turned half bowl shape (so it can be flat against the wall), then it has a part cut out and replaced with pretty sort of textured handmade paper looking stuff, whitish but with colors streaked through. So the light bulb sits behind that and the light shines through that part. It's the perfect size and shape for basically the only free spot on the wall above my bed, which is right over the part of my bed where I am when I read. Uncanny. I love that.

Yeah, esp. for working out. I filled the thing up, though, so I'm gonna have to delete songs that I don't absolutely love soon to make room.

How many gigs did you get again?

And yes, working out is great with the mp3 player...like I don't remember what I did before I had mine. Oh that's right, I wasn't working out then :p

--Well I'm about to go BACK to that music store because as it turns out they did have cables left - and I don't have an amp, but at least I can buy the cable..or cord or whatever it's called.

This $75 deal is rapidly getting more expensive

^^^^ hehehehehe. "ab lounger".

Anyways, look, look, I got the lamp!!! The cutout part is actually made of glass, not paper. Der. I'm really excited because before I had a naked light bulb on a cord that I just draped over the back of my headboard. :distress:

You can see how there is only exactly that much room between the top of my bed and the picture. Spooky.

Well I killed this thread the last time, lets see if I can do it again

So I just went down to a little music shop that's closing down :( I went simply to get a cheap pair of drumsticks....

And ended up buying an electric guitar

I couldn't resist...the guitar, case, strap and 3 extra sets of strings was given to me for only $75.

I'm not a guitar player, but I'm excited...all I need now is an amp and my neighbors will rue the day they pissed ME off :p

dude, are you my twin? there's a music store around here that's going out of business and i'm planning on buying my new guitar from them. hopefully i can get a great deal like yours!!!

Are you my twin? I'm getting one from the pawn shop! Okay, wait, that isn't the same...plus we've established you're my doppleganger, totally different.

Whew, thanks for looking at my lamp, you saved my life. Did you note it's exact perfect size? :p

ooo, I have songs to listen to from the other thread. Thanks for reminding me.

Oh, my, I started laughing so hard, have you seen that South Park? With the evil fish, and aunt flo, and nice Cartman (and mean Stan and Kyle) from the alternate universe? I just pictured you being the nice Cartman/Amber...with the goatee and all...and I'd be all "who's this as*shole?"

No, but I thought of it while I was talking to you, so, you know. I've been looking forward to Eliza's TA with the band...

Well with the guitar, GG and XF love, maybe...then again you think Mia Kirshner is down to get wanged...so then again, maybe not :p

Dude...it was kind of sad though because this music store has been in business since just after World War II. So on one hand I felt horrible that they're going out of business and I was taking advantage of the situation...

On the other - I got a $350 guitar, case, strap, 3sets of strings and picks for $75. So really...I'm doing this: :blob1:

I wound up with 5 more Rumours albums. I swear I am going to kill my sister one of these days. She collects soundtracks, preferably on vinyl, so she goes to all these little flee markets every weekend, and every god damn time she stumbles upon a Rumours album, she brings it with her. She knows I can't make myself to throw them away. She has a weird sense of humor, that girl. Can you believe I now have thirty-one copies? I swear, one day I'll end up with all 30+ million copies sold worldwide.

I came home last Sunday night and this is what awaited me. She, ofcourse, was already asleep.

yeah, same with this store. it's a family biz that's been around for decades, and they just can't compete with guitar center & the internet. it seems a little opportunistic, but they are going out of business and need all the money they can get, so

what kind did you get?

I think it is funny your sister does that, and it kind of has a really cool effect with a bunch together like that. It would be fun to see all of them up with good lighting. I mean, the cover pic itself is gorgeous.
I only have two vinyl copies.

A few days ago, I got myself a ton of stuff on sale. I got a pair of skinny jeans from Old Navy, on sale for $18:

http://www.oldnavy.com/Asset_Archive/ONWeb/Assets/Product/457/457574/main/on457574-00p01v01.jpg

I'm so excited that I've finally found a pair of skinny jeans that look good on me. Though, I've been losing weight lately, and all of my jeans are kind of falling off my ass. Thank goodness for belts and long tops. I also got a long black beater tank, and two pairs of black flip flops. I love Old Navy's flip flops, and last year, I could not find a pair in black, and thus, I was miffed. So I bought a pair right away, before all the little rich bitches get 'em  I also went to Wal Mart, and got a cool Poison t-shirt, a Sailor Jerry-inspired top with sparrows on it, and some black leggings. The leggings are very Peg Bundy, but they're cute, so whatev.

Also, I went to Payless when they had their BOGO sale, and got these cuties:

Yeah. I love shopping, especially when things go on sale. And my mom gave me a $15 iTunes card for Valentine's Day, so I bought Motorhead's "Ace of Spades" album with that, since I had the vinyl, but nothing I could put on my iPod.

I think I'm gonna go sale-hunting tomorrow, too. Woot.

That's a big f*cking roof. of course, I have to remember that's Cali money. In Buffalo the entire thing would probably cost $5000.

Maybe. It's not a huge roof. I think they are charging me more because of the driveway. Plus it is some new stuff that is mostly used on industrial applications. Best roof I could get. No biggie. I had the money set aside anyway.
