Just found out that Stevie was at TP's show in Sacramento last night and served him birthday cake. I had decided that I would go if I knew she would be there, but nicksfix made it look like she was done with the tour.
Honestly, is it too much for the official website to give her fans a slight heads up on these things?
We're having great weather, I'll bet it was a beautiful night.
Now I'm totally unclear on what to do about next week's Berkeley show. I feel like she won't be there, but then again, I don't want to wake up the next day and find out otherwise.
Maybe I'll buy a cheapish GA seat and take the chance.

Oh, and here's the article from Sacramento Bee:
What a way to celebrate a birthday.
Not everyone, after all, gets lucky enough to have Stevie Nicks lead a crowd of nearly 16,000 fans in a rousing rendition of "Happy Birthday."
Tom Petty, who turned 56 years old Friday, made the occasion a two-hour Raley Field party that was light in mood and heavy on the hits.
"I can't think of a better way to spend a birthday," Petty told the crowd as it cheered beneath a balmy October sky.
"We're gonna have a genuine rock'n'roll show."
Petty kept his word, rollicking through a seemingly bottomless well of classics that spanned the singer's 30-year catalog.
Kicking off the night with an invigorating "Listen to Her Heart," (from 1978's "You're Gonna Get It!"), Petty, backed by longtime band the Heartbreakers, appeared happy and playful, youthful even.
Sure, he can't hit some of the high notes anymore but Petty's voice has aged nicely (it's at once wry and weathered, wistful and sweet) and his songs exude an eternal appeal.
Likewise, the Heartbreakers sounded like a band in its prime. It's been 30 years since the release of their self-titled debut and in the decades since, the Petty's maintained a steady core of support in guitarist Mike Campbell and keyboardist Benmont Tench
The current line-up also includes Scott Thurston on keyboards and vocals, Steve Ferrone on drums and, in a sign that all things eventually come full circle, original Heartbreaker bassist Ron Blair. (Blair replaced Howie Epstein who died of drug-related causes in 2003.)
The set included only a few selections from the band's latest album "Highway Companion" but tracks such as "Down South" and "Saving Grace" - the latter, brilliantly bittersweet and tense - sounded lovely and fresh.
Still, it's timeless tunes such as "Won't Back Down," "Runnin' Down a Dream" and "Free Fallin'" that got the crowd on its feet, pumping fist-clenched bottles of beer into the air with every familiar percussive jab, every jangly, hook-laden chorus.
Among the night's highlights was the surprise appearance by Petty's longtime friend Stevie Nicks. In addition to the aforementioned "Happy Birthday" round, the 58-year-old Fleetwood Mac singer joined Petty on "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" (from Nicks' 1981 solo album "Bella Donna") and "Insider."
Nicks, looking rather trim, also shook her start-spangled tambourine and sang back-up on "Learning to Fly" and "Don't Come Around Here No More."
Other treats included a jaunty cover of Bo Diddley's "I'm a Man" and the Traveling Wilburys' 1988 pop hit "Handle With Care" with Scott Thurston nicely handling the late Roy Orbison's vocals.
The three-song encore featured a meandering rendition of Van Morrison's "Mystic Eyes" - one of the show's rare zone-out moments.
The other two closing choices, "You Wreck Me" and "American Girl" illustrate just exactly why Tom Petty remains relevant after all these years.
His songs are, inarguably, classic rock staples - "American Girl" is the sort of tune that can rouse even the most stonehearted listener. But with expertly crafted melodies and Dylan-esque lyrics, Petty's music transcends simplistic, feel-good nostalgia.
More than 30 years in the making, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers create smart music that defies easy categorization and, perhaps more important, still totally rocks out live.

Urgggh!! That seriously bites. And the Nicksfix really should have been on top of that.....but it's not completely surprising that they weren't
Anyone you can call (like the venue) so see if Stevie will be at Berkeley? I don't know how that stuff works...so I don't know, maybe that's a ridiculous question - but ya don't wanna miss her again!

Or you could buy a good seat and go regardless because Tom Petty is incapable of putting on a bad show.

I'm upset too that I missed Stevie. :(
Even though I love Tom, I've already spent money on seeing two Tom shows plus I'm going to two Lindsey shows plus I'm going to Crue/Aerosmith so...I'd rather not spent money on another Tom show if Stevie's not going to be there.

Your loss.
I only caught one of Tom's shows this year - which, to my chagrin, featured Stevie as special guest - but after my two trips to TN to see Walter Egan and also buying tix to see Lindsey, money's too tight right now. If that hadn't been the case, however, I'd have gone to all of Tom's No. Cal. dates.

Actually, I wanted to wear it to the Tom show that I did go to, but I didn't get the idea for it until just a few days before and didn't have enough time to have it made.
And damn did I regret my tardiness. So many Stevie fans... :distress:

Duh, I know you think you are most clever, but I've seen TP a million times. In fact, he was the first concert I went to...1981.
Point is, I've already seen him twice on this tour and I have limited money. So I've decided I'll only go again if Stevie is there.

I swear. you know, I can't not say anything anymore. I just have to say Vicky that you have gone far and beyond being clever in your hate for Stevie. Wow. Real classy response there Jaz. I'm the bitter betty? I asked you in private what your problem was exactly (because I wasn't even aware that we had a problem until this point) and instead of responding to me in private, you go and post this crap on the public forum? Nice one.
Also, I generally refrain from making personal jabs at Stevie on the Stevie forum and tend to keep to the Chit Chat forum. If I do make a negative comment about her or any of her recordings in the Stevie forum, it's typically in the context of a poll where our opinions are being asked (see "Least Favorite Stevie Album" thread or "Bella Donna vs. TISL").
And for the shirt, I posted that photo because I had mentioned it to some people in private and they had expressed interest in seeing it. So rather than sending it privately to each of them, I posted it in a photo thread where, I might add, the response has been quite positive.
As for people not wanting to meet up with me, the only person who attended that show that I wanted to meet was you, because I was under the apparently mistaken impression that we had something of a friendship built.
I should also add that it was not I who brought up the subject of the t-shirt in this forum and my original post was merely to say that Tom's shows are always good and that a great time is pretty much gauranteed with or without Stevie.

Stevie was in Indian Wells on Saturday too. Maybe she'll finish up with Tom's tour before heading to NY for Hulaween.
I'm really impressed by all the details these writers included in the following review. Fan comments, show timeline, full set list, highlights in chronological order...must be big Petty fans. :woohoo:
Was it Petty's last dance?
Sunday, 22 October 2006
By Bruce Fessier and Michael Felci
The Desert Sun (Palm Springs)
If this was Tom Petty's last dance with Mary Jane in Southern California, it was a fond farewell.
Petty and the Heartbreakers, and opening act Jackson Browne, performed for a near-sellout crowd of more than 8,000 people at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden on Saturday in what some have speculated might be his last SoCal appearance with the Heartbreakers.
Petty has only said he wants to devote more time to recording, but his Tennis Garden show had the celebratory feel of a climax to a 30-year road trip with his bandmates from North Florida.
Kendra Klaus of Eagle, Colo., was ecstatic after just the sixth song of the night, the blues classic, "I'm A Man."
"I came from Colorado to see this concert," she said. "I love this man more than life. I had to come out because I knew it was going to be his last concert. This is amazing."
Former Fleetwood Mac vocalist Stevie Nicks got the crowd even more excited by joining Petty on stage for their duet hit, "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" and "I Need To Know."
The scene outside of the Tennis Garden started out anything but celebratory. Hundreds, if not thousands of people were still standing in line when Browne took the stage 20 minutes past the 7 p.m. start time.
"It sucks," said Joe Corona of Cathedral City. "The Eagles concert was fine. Whoever did this was really bad."
Tennis Garden officials began letting people into the stadium through their offices, but the last fans didn't make it through until 15 minutes before Browne's last songs.
Tennis Garden officials couldn't be reached for comment.
Fortunately for the late arrivers, Browne's set climaxed with his final three songs, with his quintet ripping into the 1996's "Culver Moon" and ending with his hits "Running On Empty" and "Doctor My Eyes."
Petty concert timeline
Between 7:20-7:30 p.m.
Opening act Jackson Browne takes the stage at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden. The audience is at half capacity as concert goers search for parking and file in.
8:07 p.m.
Browne introduces "Culver Moon," a song about Culver City. He tells the audience to "try and imagine Indio in the middle of L.A."
8:16 p.m.
Browne and his backing band strike the opening chords of "Runnin’ On Empty." The floor section rises to their feet.
8:21 p.m.
Browne ends his set and receives a standing ovation.
8:23 p.m.
Browne re-emerges for an encore. Launches into "Doctor My Eyes" on piano.
8:28 p.m.
Browne: "Thank you, have a great night."
8:49 p.m.
A beach ball provides temporary amusement for concert goers anxious for the main attraction..
9:07 p.m.
The house lights go down, the audience cheers.
9:08 p.m.
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers emerge from the darkness. The band rips into "Listen to Her Heart," featuring the memorable opening line "You think you’re gonna take her away/With your money and your cocaine."
9:12 p.m.
Two giant video monitors turn on as the band kicks into "Mary Jane’s Last Dance."
9:23 p.m.
Petty: "Feel like singing one?" The band performs the classic "Free Fallin’" with the audience providing back-up vocals.
9:42 p.m.
Petty performs "Handle Me With Care," a George Harrison song from his days with The Traveling Wilburys.
9:49 p.m.
After introducing the band, including longtime members Benmont Tench (keyboards) and guitarist Mike Campbell, Petty calls upon an "honorary Heartbreaker": Stevie Nicks.
9:50 p.m.
Petty and Nicks perform their classic duet, "Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around."
9:54 p.m.
The band rips into 1978's "I Need to Know," featuring Nicks on lead vocals.
9:57 p.m.
Nicks exits stage left to thunderous applause.
10:10 p.m.
Petty pays homage to Chuck Berry with a cover of "Too Much Monkey Buisness." Petty promises that, unlike Chuck, he won’t be performing when he’s 80.
10:19 p.m.
Nicks returns for a second duet, 1981's "Insider."
10:25 p.m.
An acoustic "Learning to Fly" provides one of the evening’s many sing-along moments.
10:29 p.m.
Nicks provides back-up vocals and hand claps for "Don’t Come Around Here No More." Mike Campbell opts for a mandolin instead of a guitar.
10:37 p.m.
Petty and the Heartbreakers close with two of their razor-sharp classics: "Refugee and "Runnin’ Down A Dream."
10:47 p.m.
The band takes a bow as a sea of swaying cell phones light up the stadium. A lone spotlight remains pointed at Petty’s microphone on an empty stage.
10:50 p.m.
After several minutes of applause, the lights go back on and the band re-emerges.
10:51 p.m.
Sounding fresh, the band kicks into a rollicking version of "You Wreck Me," the first of three encores.
11:06 p.m.
Stevie Nicks joins the band for its final number, 1976's "An American Girl," a song as old as the band itself.
11:11 p.m.
Taking their final bow to a huge ovation, Petty says "God bless and goodnight" before leaving the stage for good.
Petty-Browne highlights
Top five concert moments, in chronological order:
# “Culver Moon,” by Jackson Browne. Not one of his hits, but he and vocalist Catherine Russell gave this nondescript city in Los Angeles the feel of a city along Highway 61 in Mississippi.
# “I’m A Man,” by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Another surprise. Petty said he was inspired by hearing the English blues group, the Yardbirds, featuring a young Eric Clapton, do this Bo Diddley classic, and the Heartbreakers would have made Clapton proud.
# “I Need To Know,” by Petty, the Heartbreakers and Stevie Nicks. The mystic princess, dressed in all black, exuded a power she couldn’t have attained without witchcraft with Fleetwood Mac behind her.
# “It’s Good To Be King,” by Petty and the Heartbreakers. Not one of their five best songs, but it was guitarist Mike Campbell at his best.
# “American Girl,” by Petty and the Heartbreakers. Hard to pick between this and “You Wreck Me,” “Running Down A Dream” and “Refugee,” which built up an incredible momentum leading to “American Girl” as the third and final encore, but, the site of Petty singing next to Nicks in a top hat, like a Uncle Sam’s wife on acid, was just a great finish.
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers set list:
# Listen To Her Heart
# Mary Jane's Last Dance
# Won't Back Down
# Free Fallin'
# Saving Grace
# I'm A Man
# Oh Well
# Handle With Care
# Stop Draggin' My Heart Around
# I Need To Know
# It's Good To Be King
# Too Much Monkey Business
# Down South
# Insider
# Learning To Fly
# Don't Come Around Here No More
# Refugee
# Runnin' Down A Dream
Encores:
# You Wreck Me
# Mystic Eyes
# American Girl

And for everyone: will or won't Stevie be there?
I say she will as Tom will want her to be at the last full show of the tour (the Vegas show is only 1 1/2 hours).

Stevie was in Berkeley tonight for her final show with Tom.
She was extra energetic, with high kicks during DCAHNM and little stomps of the feet during Insider.
She also spoke after Insider and said that normally she doesn't talk because she's the guest, but since it was her last night she wanted to say a few words. She said that when Tom called and asked her to play a "few shows", she said of course, but a few turned into 27 shows. Then she talked about how this was her hometown, that it all started in San Francisco. Then she said how amazing it had been to be on stage with Tom all summer and to watch and learn from him, and that God had blessed her.
What a thrill. And dinner/drinks with amber and goldenbraid.:woohoo:

And then you forgot the rest, how she kicked way much extra ass. :blob2: She got stronger, vocally, with every show. And this was the pentultimate. Random people were silently frozen in disbelief when she did her strobe DCRHNM dance. Everyone liked Stevie, but no one knew she was going to kick it out like she did. I felt the energy change from "Oh, Stevie Nicks, I like her!" to "Damn!, I like Stevie Nicks, but I didn't know she could kick this much ass!"
And it's always fun to note the palpable difference of when people hear Insider start, and about 30 seconds later when they realize this is some serious sh*t. They quiet down, there are some disbelieving murmurs...  People fall under the spell...but strangely, my very favorite is when she sings her little voice on the backup for "Learning to Fly" - you can so much hear that it is her, yet it goes so well with the song. It gives the song an even more distinctive qualitah. *little voice, little sweet nasal high Stevie voice! Adds fun to any singing party! *
F*cking Sweeeeeeeeet. Supa Sweeeet. The extra applause when she comes out...priceless...."Everybody likes Stevie Nicks!" - Amber

You're right Amber about everyone loving Stevie. One of the loudest cheers during the whole show is when Stevie comes out. I just love that everyone gets so into her.

I have no voice today. I lost it screaming for Stevie when it became clear she was there.
