She's probably in the Bay Area by now. Maybe staying at the St. Francis in Union Square or the Ritz-Carlton on Nob Hill? She's probably stayed at every 5-star hotel in this city!

I don't think its stalkerish, you work there. I'm serious I'd be walking that floor all day and getting in some major overtime.
If you do meet her, I'd ask her how her stay is and if there is anything she needs and by the way I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!

first i would remind myself that you can't end a sentence with "at" (as a preposition).
so let's start over:
"Stevie is staying at the hotel where I work".
Then I would probably do some innocent hall walking too. Look for signs.
Any other road-dog like people around...
Leaving a nice note is a good idea. Not a big fan of roses myself, but maybe Stevie is.

I'd be walking that floor all day [/SIZE] You and every other hotel worker...she'd be like WTF? I would respect her privacy and not perhaps frighten her. As I mentioned, something simple letting her know I know she is there and can not let the moment pass without letting her know how much I digher would hopefully bring a smile and thought of me to her...that would please me enough. Now, since you only know the floor number you must place a rose/note at each door!!
You must find out the room number...and for goodness sake let us know the name in which she registers...
Good luck and let us know what happens...if you spot her and such.

I just walked past the Fairmont Hotel, which is near where I live at
Anyway, there are three huge buses parked in front. All with their shades down, with three different license plates (Tennessee, Mississippi, Oregon). I thought maybe they were part of the TP contingent?
Anyway, to answer the thread question, I would leave her alone unless you happen to be near her and she catches your eye and gives a sign that it's okay to approach. I completly understand the desire to talk to her, but she undoubtedly expects privacy in a hotel situation.

This is tricky because it is a hotel and you don't want to bother her during her downtime. I mean you could probably get fired if you approached her as a fan. Or maybe not, who knows?
Wow!!!! This is hard! Just do it! This is a once in a lifetime chance!

I would quickly gather enough rope to scale and anchor a board to the building...I would gather a waterpail and any mop I could find...I would hoist myself quickly up towards her window...and sit there very quietly...careful not to call attention to myself...somehow...then I would just gaze...when she slipped from her sweatpants into her fineries...I would pretend to lookaway while gathering every sensual detail to report properly to the pervs. ;)

I used to work for the Marriott, so I know your pain. When Aerosmith stayed there---well I've already told that story. I don't know what department you work in, but if *I* were you, I would ask either the GM or whoever in sales booked her room if you could send her a note. The Marriott was adamant about not approaching or even acknowledging famous people. She deserves her privacy in a hote. But still...it's STEVIE!

Somebody who wants privacy or just isn't in the mood to be approached by a stranger.
Stevie quite easily blew off a number of people who were trying to say nice things to her at the '98 AHI post-concert party. Even when she was getting into her limo, a fan had a nice sign saying I Love You or something like that. Stevie looked at it, then looked away and got in the car.
Not dissing Stevie here. There are just times when she's not going to be responsive.
I think a little note is the best idea because it is unobtrusive and there is no obligation for Stevie to return any communication.

If she is at the hotel, I would probably respect her privacy. No way would I walk up and down the hall way awaiting her. It's her off time and unless she gave me a signal that it was ok to approach her, I would not bother her.
The note and flower is a nice idea.....although I am sure she gets those quite often too.

This reminds me of an episode of I Love Lucy. I can just see Lucy and Ethel sneaking into Stevie's hotel room pretending to be housekeepers. Of course they would be wearing some ridiculous french maid outfit! Maybe you could hide in one of those room service carts (under the table cloth) and sneak in that way. Heeheeeheee!!!!

Because you work there, you shouldn't do a thing unless she came right up to you for whatever reason or was at least in earshot of quiet conversation. Then you could compliment her on her talent and her career.

So all you Stevie fans are saying that if you saw her in public you wouldn't approach her? Where else are you going to see her, walking her dogs down yuor street? I had the opportunity to speak to Stevie TWICE and I was so awestruck and I regret that I didn't atleast say hello.

I didn't say anything like that, and remember we are all approaching this with the idea of seeing her at a hotel where you work. If I saw her in public, I would decide what to do then depending on the situation. I doubt I would disturb her at all if she was at a restaurant sitting at a table with friends.

If she were walking her dogs down my street, I'd definitely approach her. If she were surrounded by her entourage, I'd probably think twice about approaching her. There's no doubt that I'd be awestruck, but I'd always respect her boundaries. I'm fine with admiring her from afar. :woohoo:

Walking her dog down the street is different than walking the floor outside her hotel room. I dunno..a hotel is private, its her time and I would respect that. I also would never approach her if she was sitting in a restaurant eating but if she was sitting at a bar? That is different. I really think she respects fans more who give her a little space.

So all you Stevie fans are saying that if you saw her in public you wouldn't approach her? Well, if I were Stevie (dreamon!) I would want total privacy. In fact I would be a little frightened...wanting to meander down the hall for ice in my nightie...I'd have to send someone else. In rethinking the note/rose bit, while I would want to bring a smile to her face, I would also not want her to open the door and become startled by the sight of it. I guess I would just admire from afar. I would really want her to have flowers and a note though, just to brighten the day, so I would think about sending through a regular florist to have delivered by hotel personnel, or someone would come down to retrieve. And, of course, twistedgypsy, if there was a coincidental meeting where she was in the area and caught my eye I certainly would say hello.

You could do what I did....Leave a photo/album/CD cover for her to sign with the front desk..BUT..I'm sure The Front Desk might not be too happy that you are an employee. If you have a friend that will not roll over on you..that's what I would do and request that she leave it at the front desk at check out for you to pick up without disturbing her..IT WORKED FOR ME!
I got to talk to her on the phone..she was cool..thanked me and told me when she was checking out and I could pick it up.

Go for it!:nod:Palin is a legend! I met him twice in a non-professional environments and he's an approachable guy but it wasn't fanatical, just a hello. I would hesitate with Cleese though and might put Stevie in the same catergory, unless they've made it obvious otherwise they usually seem to not want to be disturbed.
I saw Paul McCartney once but he was keeping to himself and it seemed clear he wanted it to stay that way. So I didn't really meet him but I wouldn't want to, I'd rather have just stayed there in his presence for a good time than have been the one to make him uncomfortable and probably get up to leave. I did speak to George Harrison once but that was accident I didn't know it was him when I asked him to move so I could get through the door. It's much cooler to have had an average polite encounter than to have turned back and gasped uncomfortably.
The point is that I wouldn't seek her out. paul McCartney is my favourite artist so I get the desire to want to communicate with her but chances are it won't live up to your fantasy at all so just quietly enjoy her presence.

I used to work in a famous hotel where a lot of celebs stayed. One time someone I really admired came to stay and I was beside myself. We had been told to treat our guests, no matter who they were, as if they were normal people (unless they asked for special treatment, like running out in the middle of the night for greet tea ice cream or some crap like that, but I digress).
So I was in the garage when I spied this person. He'd had an amazing impact on my life and all I wanted to do was thank him. Then I realized, he had fans going at him all the time, wherever he went. The last thing he needed was to worry aobut one of those crazed fans having the spare key to his room and access to his underwear drawer. I realized that, although it meant I wouldn't get my needs met, the best way I could thank him was to leave him alone so he could feel safe and secure in his hotel room. After all he had given me, I felt so good that in some small way, even without him knowning, I had done a really nice thing for him by leaving him along.
And after that, I was treated with a lovely conversation one day as I was at the front desk. He was waiting for the desk clerk to print out his bill and we just started to chat. Not as celebrity and fan but just as two people. I had not expected it to happen but it was really nice sharing a few words with him that weren't "I love you and your work.." "Thank you I'm honored". Say those two sentences to yourself a thousand times in a row. That is what a celebrity hears when you approach them and say that. And the response is almost automatic. If you are lucky to meet someone famous, treat them like a real human being and not a robotic superstar who owes you something.
