I can't get the songs to play, what am I doing wrong? I just get a blank screen.
The player opens up in a new window. Do you have popups blocked?

The new window is just a blank screen. I guess I need a plug-in or something, but the website is not really helpful. I can't register or download anything because Rhapsody is not yet offered in my country.

I tried both Internet Explorer and Firefox, nothing works. I managed to register to Real, going through the Dutch website, but when I click on 'sign in' on Rhapsody.com I get that annoying black pop up screen again. Does anyone at least know what plugin I need? I could try and install it manually.

the plugin file name is RhapsodyPlayerEngine.msi sorry i don't have the URL for it. :(

Okay, I give up. I managed to get the Rhapsody player from download.com. Managed to install and log in using my Real registration info. Then when I search for the Under the Skin tracks, it still won't play. I guess I was not meant to listen to these songs now. Sigh.

I have absolutely no will power. I really admire those of you that do. I went and listened to all of the songs they have posted and now I feel like I have opened up my Christmas present, taken it out, played with it for a few days and then wrapped it back up, before my Mom catches me!!!! :(
( I did however like what I heard!!)

UtS has to be the most beautiful song he has ever written. The lyrics are stunning..
"cry me a river of new dreams".....and "I'll be your shepherd"....friggin amazing stuff.
I love how he left the Landslide lines in TftS. Beautiful.
I could do without the vocal whispering and I really am not crazy about Not Too Late, but I love UST.

same. uts sounds like the lindsey i was waiting for. thank god.
on edit: i feel like it would have been even better if he used the echo only on the chorus. it would have added another element as opposed to using it throughout the course of the entire song.

try for the sun is much more crisp and clean than the version we have. i do miss the vocal manipulation on the gift of screws version on "i dare anyone to say anyone to say we were too young" -- i haven't listened to shut us down yet but yes, try for the sun has had an overhaul.

Listen to the end of Flying Down Juniper with headphones on. A few seconds after he sings the last "let's gooo", you can hear a childs voice say "come here..Daddyyyyy". It is plain as day and so cool! I love when he does random stuff like that. Its sort of like the childrens voices in SGCYM but not exactly, its on child that sounds like he is talking to Lindsey.

Its really hard to pick a fav because im tempted not to choose a GOS song cuz ive been hearing them for the past year, but out of those prbly Try For the Sun, its always had some meaning to me. out of the new ones im torn between Under The Skin and Castaway Dreams. they are somewhat similar. Also, Shut Us Down i believe has to be cut down considering my version is like over 5 min and this one is under four.
Gazza
09-27-2006, 05:52 PM
Shut Us Down needed a bit of an edit imo. That guitar break is so fantastic, I feel like I'm waiting too long to get to that part when I relisten.
There's something beautiful about the way the chorus comes in on Cast Away Dreams. That's still my favourite of the new tracks.

it's not even that this version is bad (which i'm sure you're not saying either) -- i just wish he would have specifically used that element in the track because it added a whole other dimension to the song. it seemed more raw to me, if that makes sense.

do not love Not Too Late.
grew to love Show You How.
i shed a tear or twelve thousand during Under the Skin. lush and tragic. in a good way.
where the eff is I Am Waiting? licensing issue?
love love love It Was You. even if it is about her.
prefer the GOS version of Try for the Sun but will gladly take this one.
Cast Away Dreams is the best new one of the lot IMO.
Shut Us Down is still good, despite the breathiness.
Down on Rodeo is still a masterpiece.
and so is SGCYM.
Juniper. not growing on me.
ps Show You How is also available on MusicMatch On Demand.

yeah, i thought about it too (i.e. excitement) and then i was like, "hey, nope." of course, you're only able to listen to songs for free on that thing 22 times or so and i'm sure that'll be gone by tomorrow or something. so yeah, then i'll be excited for the album to arrive in my little mailbox.

I live in England. I downloaded Rhapsody and found I couldn't register in my country, thus limited to 30 seconds.
Anyway, I logged in with my Realview username and password and it let me in to listen to them.
If you haven't got a Real account, try and create one via www.real.com then give it a go. Good Luck!
So far, I love Its Not Too Late.. Very touching song.
Under the Skin is good but a little 'send in the clowns' if you know what I mean..;)
Juniper goes on a little..

I tried to write out the words for the songs yesterday...not an easy feat when you only get 25 free listens and Lindsey mumbles. Anyway, here are the lyrics for the song Under the Skin. If you do not want to even read the lyrics until Oct 3rd, skip my post.
Under the Skin
I hear your heart..
as you pass through
I know the pain that you feel
I'll shepherd you (that is the most beautiful imagery of him being protective)
Under the skin
Everything shows
Under the skin
Anything goes
For the asking, Under the skin
I know it's hard
Been so hard to find
Your passion swallows you whole
deaf, dumb and blind
Under the skin
Everything grows
Under the skin
Anything goes
For the asking, Under the skin
When the shadows fall on the one way wall and you feel so small, where do you belong?
When you soul falls out and your filled with your doubt, and the silouhettes show, where do you belong?
Lay your head down
No one will see
Cry me a river of new dreams
flow just so free
Under the skin
everything shows, under the skin
Anything goes, for the asking
Under the skin
Under the skin, every grows, Under the skin
Everything Grows, Under the skin,
Anything goes,
Long live the Queen,
Under the skin

Thanks you Nichora! That was very helpful. I have it working now.
Not Too Late is amazing! Can't wait to get this CD... and buy copies for ppl!
Try for the Sun soars!
Flying Down Juniper is on quite a different style altogether, but doesnt it take long to get into the groove. Love the chorus.. The whole song reminds me of the romantic guitar song sung by the lady in the 70s Peter Sellers movie The Party. Hopefully somebody knows what I mean.
I'm being a good boy and not being too greedy ... I'll be leaving Under the Skin for the CD itself.

I didn't play Shut Us Down, just went for the new ones. Now having listened, I'm shocked. I loved the instrumental! I totally agree with being the worst idea ever! Well, that and not sticking Peacekeeper solo version on SYW.
Oh well, it was worth buying the Elizabethtown soundtrack after all.:)
Juniper is growing on me.. I like the 'daddy' from one of his kids at the end.
I like the new Try for the sun version. Maybe not as much as the GOS one, but having heard that one for so many years, its nice to have something else new.
I'm glad he didn't play around with DOR!
I don't know if this albums better than GOS but at I reckon its as least as good. It certainly flows better as a whole. DOR and SGCYM just fit right in there.

Gerald and the other Dutch friends, I think you are the first ones to have the album in the stores tomorrow, right? :wavey:
I am looking forward to your report of what it finally is like. I think I have to wait a couple of days or perhaps weeks for the import.
The editing of SUD surprises me unless the thing is supposed to be a single. But I doubt that is the reason. I don`t see a LB single playing a major role nowadays and I doubt that LB or Warners believe in something different.
I am looking forward to compare these two versions. The alternated TFTS version is a good idea imo as this brings new/fresh aspects to a song I probably wouldn`t have spent too much attention on otherwise, as I have heard that thing too often since 2001.

since a good online trade buddy of mine has a promo copy of UTS in their hands and says it is a great disc (My trade buddy sent me scan of the complete artwork, but I cannot post it as was requested-I however can say the back artwork has LB in a black jacket, wearing a white shirt underneath the jacket, holding a guitarcase while standing in a field with the sunlight from a sunset casting over him.)
Spoiler alert:
According to the sticker on the promo disc, the next single is "Down on Rodeo"
