My Giants had a total meltdown, but I just got tickets to two of the A's playoff games. Looks like they will be playing Detroit. They are my second favorite team, and filled with eye candy. I will root for the Bay Area over any part of the country.

Anyone else going to playoff games this year?

not making a trip, but I will be watching.

The Twins have the magic number to 2 to clinch the AL wildcard, thus showing that the White Sux were indeed a fluke.

It's funny, I like the Yanks, A's, Tigers & the Twins-So I predict an AL World Series win this October.

The NL just cant compete this year-Mets, Cards (Who may not make it, their lead is down to 3 games), Dodgers or Padres & possibly the Phillies.

Whats really goint to be interesting this week is the NL wild card race between San Diego, the DOdgers and the Phillies. It looks like San Diego has a slight bit of seperation from the Dodgers. so it's probably between the Dodgers and Phillies for the last spot. I have a feeling the Dodgers are going to be the odd team out.

I'm hoping the Giants get their s&#^ together this weekend and kick the Dodgers out of the playoffs. That will be one redeeming aspect to this miserable baseball season.

Teams that have clinched:
- Detroit Tigers
- New York Yankees
- Minnesota Twins

Magic number for Oakland A's - 2

- New York Mets

After them, who the hell knows what will happen.

I cant believe what's happening to the Cardinals!!! If the Astros overtake them, this will go down as the biggest collapse in baseball history no doubt about it! Now the Cards have lost 7 in a row, and the Astors have won 7 in a row.

it will not be the biggest collapse-There's been collapses of 13 games in the past years.

As for the Cards/Ass-Holes, Could care less (Not a fan of either team)

their work cut out for them now that they have lost Pedro for the rest of the season due to injury.

Also, the Astros won 3-0 and the Cards are losing 9-1 in the bottom of the 7th, so they may be tied for the NL Central lead.

The Tigers lost and the Twins are tied 1-1 in the 11th with the Royals, a Twins victory will also mean a tie in AL Central.

Ok so its down to A's/Tigers and Mets/Cardinals. Here's how I see things going from here:

A's/Tigers: I read today that the A's pitching is in a bit of disarray Seems that they're not sure whos going to start game 1 even. I look for the TIgers to win this series 4-3.

Mets/Cardinals: I dont know quite what to make of this one. Both of these teams have faced quite a bit of adversity the last few weeks. The Cardinals haveing barely backed in, and the Mets pitching in shambles. Somehow they both managed to advance. I jsut think the Mets offense will be too much. Mets 4-2.

Jet Carrying Yankees' A-Rod Overshoots Runway

BURBANK, Calif. -- A private jet, carrying Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez and six others, overran a runway at Bob Hope Airport on Friday and was brought to a halt by an arresting system.

"I spoke to Alex. He's fine," agent Scott Boras said.

None of the seven people aboard were injured, federal officials said.

The Gulfstream G-II carried five passengers and two crew members, the National Transportation Safety Board said in a statement from Washington, D.C.

The twin-engine jet was stopped by the Engineered Materials Arresting System, a 200-foot-long stretch of pavement injected with air bubbles designed to collapse under the weight of an aircraft as large as a Boeing 737 jet traveling as fast as 50 knots, airport spokesman Victor Gill said.

"It came to a pretty quick stop," Gill said.

Damage to the aircraft was minor, the board said.

An NTSB official was sent to investigate the 11:35 a.m. incident. The board planned to retrieve the cockpit voice recorder, gather radar data and evaluate how well the arresting system worked.

There was no indication that the jet's crew reported any problems before landing or that the runway was wet, according to Tealeye Cornejo, an NTSB air safety investigator. Investigators will look into whether the jet had already arrived and was taxing at the time of the accident or whether it overshot the runway upon landing, she said.

The aircraft, registered to a Wilmington, Del., corporation, approached from the west and landed on one of the airport's two runways. The runway was closed and reopened at 3:30 p.m. after the plane was moved, Gill said.

Bob Hope Airport, in the San Fernando Valley north of downtown Los Angeles, is used by seven airlines and private aircraft.

A Southwest Airlines jet skidded off a runway and crashed through a concrete barrier at the airport in 2000, injuring 43 passengers and the captain. The flight from Las Vegas went too fast and descended at a steep angle when it landed, according to a NTSB report.

That jet ended up on a city street near a gas station.

SO the Cards are ahead 2 games to 1. Interesting. I wouldnt say they have it in the bag, but the pitching matchup tonight is a rather interesting one. 3-13 Oliver Perez fot the Mets and I cant remember the guys name for the Cards, but I know he's a rookie.

SO the Cards and Mets are now tied 2-2. I swear the Mets Pitching is the biggest train wreck ever. It seems like these 2 teams are battling for the right to get their ass kicked by the Tigers.

Tigers will win the WS, no doubt about it. The Cards and Mets are going to kill each other, unless miraculously one of them goes on an absoute tear.
