View Full Version : Crying Over Stevie- Yeah, that's Normal

Okay, I'm right in the middle of writing a massive paper, but I want to stop for a minute because I had a major geek Stevie moment earlier today that only a Ledgie could appreciate (and don't worry- I'm not writing my paper with such run-a-long sentences  ).
So, I was driving to school listening to Red Rock's Beauty and the Beast. I was totally absorbed and thinking how PERFECT this song is, when she got to this part:
"If you know tell her...tell her now..."
and then the "Aaaaaaaaaaaah" after that and...
I started bawling. :o (Amber, are you here?)
Does this ever happen to you? Listening to her and remembering how passionate she was and that one note just had me crying. Now, I may have been overly emotional because of the date today, but this kind of happens to me at other times as well (listening to certain live songs, watching certain performances). What is it about this woman that she has the ability to bring out so much emotion in me over songs that I have been listening to for like, 20 years?
Okay, back to my paper. Thanks for not telling me I'm a freak. :o

...Been there, done that - especially with THAT song. You're not a freak. :p
I've done it with live tracks, especially recordings of shows I'd been to and it takes me back. Plus if I'm PMSing it happens even easier!
Good luck with your paper!

You are not a freak! I completely understand. Especially that part of the song. Desert Angel has actually done that to me a few times ...

Every time, dear. In fact, I just heard the piano demo for Silver Springs that Chris posted in the SS thread - tears. Such a young high Stevie voice. And with almost no piano, such a beautiful melody she made up. It's weird how she barely knows any chords but comes up with so many different kinds of songs.

I bawl my eyes out every time to "Beauty and the Beast" - I also well up to "China Doll", and I always cry to "Ghosts" (which speaks to me in a very personal way)...

Well I was in the car once driving up the ring road through town and I had my MP3 player on random and Spin Doctors had just been on. Anyway, on blurts Sara. I turned it up and was singing away with it. That got me going "SSSSAAAARRRRRRAAAAAA, YOU'RE THE POET IN MY HEART" oh and yes BATB does it too "IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII'VE CCCCHHAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNGED"
if I had a nickel for everytime i wept to BaTB, I would be having nickel soup every night.

I can not often get through the "you'll become his legacy" part on Insider, Live, but if I do it doesn't matter b/c I'll lose it on the the "Weooohhhhaaitheone whoouttaknooooww!" in the third and second verse. It's just too pretty and amazing.
And many others, naturally.

this is something hard to admit, but every time I start listening to angel I get teary eyed. I don't know. It's not like it makes me sad-it's just a reflex. whatever *L*
silver springs, beauty and the beast, storms, Love is, I miss you, etc. etc it goes on and on
I'm also PMS'ing

Oh BATB is my #1 crying song, especially live (although I'm usually thinking about my own ****, not Stevie). Other tear jerkers are Love Is (especially the piano demo), Cry Wolf, and Crystal (PM version).
You are not alone my dear!

We are so screwed for Berkeley. The Petty fans will be there all stoned & mellow, we'll be bawling our eyes out. :o Quiet world of white and gold. BBBBWWWAAAAA!
Yes, I've literally cried listening to Stevie & Mac. Many times:
B&tB: Nothing will ever beat that first Vegas show - literally took my breath away. Tears rolled down my face at the show, and I still well up when watching the vid. The studio version has gotten to me too - for some reason, it's the strings right before "my love is a man who's not been tamed..."
Storms: It sounds like she's crying, which makes me cry.
Blue Water: For some reason, those harmonies hit me right in the heart. I've bawled.
Songbird: I used to work with disabled young adults. One of the kids I was closest to died, and it was right after The Dance so I had just become really familiar with this song. I can't even say any more.
Illume: The first few times I heard it. It's the lyrics, not the music. How we could get out, what we've been through....It's a very dark, angry song, but very sad too.
Thrown Down: The opening guitar notes make my heart ache. You can dedicate your pain to him. Wow.

Yeah, that song gets to me too. "I can't give up the night...." Gah! So good.

Oh yeah baby  I remember that well. I got right up to the front and was standing beside a security guard, and I was just bawling and he's looking at me like, what the hell's wrong with this chick? It's just a song lady

Goodbye Baby/The Tower (which ever you prefer) is another sad one. But I think the ultimate sad Stevie song is "China Doll" - I swear, everytime I hear
'Well Its Been So Long Since I've Been Held,
And He Said -
'I Could Hold You For Days'"
I bawl my eyes out every time. Actually, Im welling up just typing out those lyrics

To be more accurate, I might be stoned and bawling my eyes out. Also perhaps buzzed. :wavey:
Judging from the boots I've seen, Petty fans aren't that mellow. Though they probably will be in Berkeley. Oh, I forgot, you've been to Petty concerts. I stand corrected.

the week of my Mother's death I made the mistake of playing "Storms" from Tusk, big mistake.
Tried to listen to metal the rest of that week, but to no avail I still cried (I cannot imagine what everyone at the funeral thought when I broke down and sobbed LOUDLY right in the middle of the funeral :( )

Well, they're pretty rowdy here, but I assumed there'd be more mellow hippie types out in Cali. OK, well, if they're talking during the song, we'll be crying and screaming "SHHH! Don't you know what this is? SHHHHH!"
