OMG!!
A new Stevie release!! Well, not new material - but a new compilation!! Is this going to be the current VBO, taking over Timespace?
Wouldn't it just be bloody awesome if Stevie recorded a new song for the album :blob1:

I just hope it is not a rehashing of the singles from radio, etc...Throw in some rarities or something. But hell, I am happy with any new release.
Wow, Lindsey, now Stevie, quick someone pinch me. :blob2: :blob1:

Sounds like it will be a straight up hits collection, geared towards casual and new listeners -- no remixes, rarities, or bonus tracks. Here's what Stevie said about the collection in 2005 while doing press in Australia.
So I should remember to tell you that there's a Best Of retrospective coming out to tie-in with the (Australian) tour. But there won't be any new tracks. When I came off the road six weeks ago, I just didn't have the time to do some new recording. And anyway, I didn't have any new material until I started writing this song about New Orleans.
I doubt this new song about New Orleans will be included.

Does WEA now own Rhino?? I don't understand the rationale for releasing this under the Rhino imprint when I thought Stevie had signed a 3-album deal with Warner/Reprise some years ago. Does this count as one of the albums under her contract?
Regardless, I don't really see the logic in cobbling together yet another "best of" package, especially since she's only released one studio album since "Enchanted." And she had only released one studio album after "Timespace" before "Enchanted." And considering that every "casual fan" probably already has "Timespace," will a few TISL tracks be enough of a lure to buy this new set? The only way I can see this working is if she threw in some of her rare collaborations such as "Magnet and Steel," "Insider," "Lay Down Your Arms," "Mohammed's Radio," "Dreams (Deep Dish)," etc. But with the exception of "M&S" and "Dreams," these are a bit obscure to be included on a "Best Of" compilation. Plus obtaining the rights to release these is probably not exactly simple. Oh, and what about including one or two orchestral numbers from Melbourne? Or some dance remixes?
Anyway... I'm going to be pessimistic. This is going to be a last-minute, half-a$$ed effort produced by the label and released in time for the Christmas holiday season. If this involved any thought or input from Stevie, I'm sure she would have given the collection an original name like "Timespace" or "Enchanted." And we all know she's been too busy touring Australia, touring with Tom Petty, etc. to really do this properly.

I would think so. The Warner Music Group (WMG) is the parent company that owns everything, including Rhino. WEA (Warner-Elektra-Atlantic) is part of the Warner Music Group and primarily handles international distribution.
Oh, and what about including one or two orchestral numbers from Melbourne? Or some dance remixes?
I wouldn't expect anything new. But who knows. I'd expect something like The Very Best of Fleetwood Mac, which Rhino put out. So maybe there will be single or alternate versions of some songs.
This is going to be a last-minute, half-a$$ed effort produced by the label and released in time for the Christmas holiday season.
The holiday season is exactly why this retrospective is being released. Greatest hits packages are quick and easy money makers, requiring few resources from the label or the artist. It sounds like Warner wanted to release this CD when Stevie was touring in Australia, but obviously that fell through. The release of Lindsey's new solo album gives them the perfect excuse/opportunity to issue something for Stevie's as well to maximize sales.

I think she'll throw Sorcerer, Everyday, and POTU on it. She should call it like Timespace II or GH II something that's a follow up from Timespace. She should also throw in an exclusive melbourne symphony performance of sorcerer or fall from grace...no wait, Rock and Roll. And release it as a single:laugh: I think she should do a somewhat short summer tour. And a Leno taping:laugh:

if this is, in fact, to be released by Rhino, don't expect much. most of the greatest hit compilations I've seen by them just use a stock photo, very little packaging and so-so tracklist, usually only 9 or 10 tracks.

On Stevie-Nicks.info, it said that after being delayed a couple of times, The Best Of will finally be released, meaning maybe Stevie did some new songs/press photos for it in the meantime...

Plus, "best of" packages are an excellent and inexpensive way to reinvigorate sales for an artist's back catalog.
Given that it's been almost an entire year since Stevie first mentioned this release and the fact that she didn't have time to record anything new for it, it is possible that she's since done so. I'm not holding my breath for that, mind you, but it is possible.
(Myself, I would be thrilled if we were graced with a recording of "Circle Dance," whether live or in the studio.)

3. Edge Of Seventeen
4. Stand Back
5. If Anyone Falls

If they include "Planets of the Universe", do you think it will be the Tracy Young remix, since that was the #1 and the Grammy Nominated version?
Do you think that they will include "Sometimes its A Bitch"? It was a single, and Stevie probably isn't personally having anything to do with compiling the release......

while I agree with you, you may not consider how effective GH compilations are for boosting artists in several ways. I know I have become huge fans of people after buying a GH package. granted, we already have what 2...3...for Stevie so this may be overkill, but never doubt the advantages.

I know this might be asking too much, but it would be really cool if one of these remixes ended up on radio. Stevie can really show her stuff to the world on The Nightmare. But of course, can you imagine if Crying In The Night was officially released to radio? That would be fabulous. :D
Actually Crying In The Night would make sense to promote since Lindsey is going on tour with his new CD and hopefully a FM tour in 2007.

YES, IT SHOULD BE! This is my pet peeve. So many artists with a large catalog have re released their albums with bonus tracks but nothing from Stevie. Why? Too busy touring, singing the same songs she's been singing for the last 25 years. I hate to say this but I'm gonna say it anyway: I think our girl has gotten lazy or perhaps uninspired or maybe a little of both.

Some things are out of Stevie's control. A record label will do what it wants to do, and really, a new Best Of is well overdue. Most people did not purchase the Enchated Box Set, so really, they are all listening to a 15 year old best of - which does not include some of the great songs from 1991 till now. I think it is a good idea. And if it includes the Buckingham Nicks track - it will be more of a complete look at Stevie's career. Basically, the label wants money...
I too want to see all of Stevie's back-catalogue re-released, remastered with a bonus disc of demo's/outtakes, but hey, atleast Stevie is doing something

Stevie can't control what the label thinks will sell. This looks like it will be a nice collection with all of her major hits (in their pop radio form) and enough rarities to make it hard for fans to resist.
The very label just released Ultimate Prince which did the same thing. They added in some remixes that hadn't been on CD before and the fans were forced to buy it.
This collection is far from complete, but with the most noteworthy recent singles and her very first single Crying In The Night making its CD debut (say it with me "from the legendary Buckingham Nicks album") I don't see how this could hurt.
Also keep in mind that Rhino almost *ALWAYS* precedes proper album remasters/reissues with a compilation. As a matter of fact, that's what happened with Fleetwood Mac.

unless it has some awesome packaging, I'll probably pass.
wait. who am I kidding? I'll buy 2 or 3 copies.
indeed, Stevie could record a fart in a jar for a CD release and us Ledgies would purchase it and then argue which would have been better, A long wet stinky fart or a tight constipated 'toot' fart
I'll purchase it none-the-less...Really hope noone I know sees me purchasing it though, Hate to have to damage my metalhead image

This is going to get confusing come November, but it looks like both will share 15 tracks and then each have an additional 3 "exclusives".
I have access to the wea.com site, but I couldn't find this information. Where on the site did you find this?

Okay, I found this on VH1.com's web site. Another venue to order the CD. But what is up with the track list being a secret? I mean, you would think they would post it as soon as they start putting up these pre-order pages.

Come on Nicks Fix, we want to know !:]
Just found this on MTV's site too. http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/nicks_stevie/artist.jhtml#/music/artist/nicks_stevie/albums.jhtml?albumId=1355292
But of course no track listing yet.

OMG!!
A new Stevie release!! Well, not new material - but a new compilation!! Is this going to be the current VBO, taking over Timespace?
Wouldn't it just be bloody awesome if Stevie recorded a new song for the album :blob1:
i wouldn't wanna get TOO excited now
but if Stevie's going to do TimeSpace part deux...I would expect at LEAST 2 NEW songs.
Like I said over at the sevenwonders board - Its being released by Rhino, so Im expecting Timespace + Everyday, Sorcerer, If You Ever Did Believe, Maybe Love and Blue Denim
And I doubt it will even have new photographs
if the album had new pics in it THAT would be enough for me to buy it........but i don't want a CD full of SINGLES.
i think she needs to polish off at least 2 demos, 2 new songs and then the rest of the album can be 'classics' :D

Shouldn't this Fall/Winter instead bring the release of a Bella Donna 25th Anniversary remaster with a bonus outtakes CD????????!!!!!!!!!!
ooooh woah
i think Stevie definitely needs to commemorate that
re-record BD live a double CD (a combo of BD and her TS pt 2 + 2 new songs)
complete with DVD and poster :D :D :D

farking A..............7" remix of LWTG
i would piss my pants

I'd have to go with some Timespace plus a couple of Enchanted tracks with "Fall From Grace" and "Sorcerer" thrown in. Maybe she'll dust off one more of her demos and throw it in fully produced.
I'd rather have a full on new CD with all new material. This plus the Gold Dust Tour is going to turn her into an oldies act if she isn't already one.

Stevie is definitely not an oldies act yet.

blasphemy.
the Gold Dust Tour did nothing, but enhance her fanbase, I think.
but, she does need to get some new material...even if it's one or two songs on a soundtrack or something...soon.

Exactly.
I agree, there's a chance to have some new material on the best of, and in any case the greatest hits would be a good base for a new cd.
