NEW YORK (Reuters) - Celebrity
Paris Hilton was arrested in Hollywood early on Thursday on suspicion of drunk driving, Los Angeles police said.

Police pulled the hotel heiress over and tested her for intoxication after seeing her drive erratically, Los Angeles police officer Robert Andreno told Reuters.

"She was arrested so, yes, she failed the sobriety test," Andreno said.

Los Angeles police spokeswoman Marjan Mobasser said Hilton was stopped by traffic officers in the Hollywood area at about 1:20 a.m.

The 25-year-old heiress to the Hilton hotel and real estate dynasty has achieved celebrity through saturation media coverage of her hard-partying lifestyle and a growing number of television appearances.

She is best known for her hit reality show "The Simple Life" and for a sex video that showed up on the Internet.

Earlier this year a judge ordered Hilton to stay away from a Los Angeles party planner who accused her of bombarding him with angry phone calls, shoving him and threatening his life.

I say that I know no one including myself who at one point in their lives could not be guilty of the same thing. I would not wish that on them, myself, or anyone else - no matter how much I did not like them.

I will say this - how stupid is she not to have a driver

Why is it, that there are people that can afford chauferrs but don't have them and then there are us poor souls who would give anything to have our own personal driver to drive us home after drinking :(

That doesn't make it right - most people just don't get caught..but it's still not the safest thing.

This story totally made me smile. Of course nothing will come of it, she'll get off scott-free- and continue being a boil on the butt of humanity.

Well, she was right at the limit on the nose so it was a misdemeanor. I'm not entirely sure what that means but I agree not much will come of this. Just a stupid headline to waste more of our time since we just can't ignore it.

Ah, I also heard that she claimed to have had only one drink - but if one weighs 20 pounds as she does even one drink can push you to or above the limit. Still - stupid headline to waste more time on indeed. God I hate myself

Yep, I resisted for about 1 1/2 hrs. It's hopeless. And someone her size, one marg could probably put over the limit, if it was one of those big ones with mostly booze, which they probably all are if u r Paris. Technically a marg is tequila, triplesec, and some lime juice, not that mix junk they try to pass off as a marg. Hmm, I'm suddenly thirsty!

True - but that has nothing to do with whether it is hypocritical to laugh at her

But, yes, take a cab if you can.

It may be hypocritical but it's still damn funny. She has everything - and doesn't have to lift a finger for it - one little hardship that gets splashed all over the headlines? She can handle it.

I stopped having any sympathy for these gals when I read and saw photos of them giving the paparazzi (sp?) pizza and beer and various other things...seems to me they WANT the attention

She blew a .08 on the breathalyzer, just made it to legally intoxicated. Wonder who she'll blow to get the charges dropped. Ba-da-bump.

Perez Hilton is reporting that she only had 1 margarita.

Coming soon: Paris Hilton public service commercials about how one drink can make you impaired and get you busted for DUI. It will probably be the highlight of her career.

what I want to know is, after ALL the DANG PICS taken of her at parties, why has she only gotten the DUI now? Is it because the PD are taking the heat because of the Mel fiasco? I just think that the celebs need to re-think their partying ways and their previous seeming immunity

I don't know about other places, but I was watching the local LA news while making a bagel in the morning in my office's break room and this was it. For ten minutes, nothing but talking about her arrest. I kind of wanted to stick my head in the microwave, but realized that changing the station on the remote would be easier.

At the very least, this news story will help those taking their written drivers test in California to know what the legal limit is.
